We sadly had to close our accounts with Santander ( August 2025) after many years with them due to restrictions on accounts for overseas customers.

From my initial visit to Santander, I was made to understand the kind of transaction that I was about to enter into. All terms clearly explained and information provided of what is expected of me prior to receiving any approvals. At the time of the application, key questions were asked ensuring I understood the process. The applicant process was quick and transparent as to what the next steps were. Can’t fault Santander on anything. Marina was super helpful!

I made a complaint on three grounds to this company associated with my attempt to close a US dollar account.

They were related to long wait times on the phone, a defective App and locking my account for spurious reasons.

They replied with an email that rejected my complaint and read like a company that was in complete denial of its failings.

Just as an example, their Android App is rated 1.3 on the App store. I had multiple problems using it. How can any professional company be using an App that is rated 1.3 by it's own customers? This is ludicrous and shameful.

Santander have grossly under-performed for me. Avoid if you want timely, serious support.

I received a text to confirm by responding if a transaction was one I had made - at this time it was not - I thought I had responded however I did not do that properly.

I get a call in the early evening to confirm if the transaction was mine. The security fraud advisor stated I need to provide more details so they can let other banks who hold my data know on my behalf. Low and behold I get a call ten minutes later to ask if I had made activity with a different bank account I own.

I am obviously still processing what is going on. Ok the security cannot work 24/7. The severity is moderate when taking into consideration how sophisticated scam artists can be. As well as the speculation that had I of left this case for money to leave my account, it will take longer to resolve, and even get money back - if I can get the money back at all.

So thank goodness Santander know exactly what to say and do in a situation where I would not have. Luckily, the other banks I bank with are also on top of their work!

Excellent Service, Telephone Banking works exactly as it should. The Team was very helpful and the KYC and Application form was very straight forward. The App works perfectly and i was able to register for Internet Banking fast. Exactly like a Bank should be.
