Great Service for setting up Internet Banking
Great service from Anu today. I had my initial call, Anu called me back within 5 minutes as promised and proceeded to take me through the process of setting up internet banking whilst taking time to to check receipt of e mails and codes to ensure process was completed efficiently. Greedy Santander International
Why do I have to deposit 75 thousand pounds into an existing account to keep it, because I am not in the UK, I have had this account for approx 20 years before this Santander lot took over the building society I was with.
They now want to charge me 40 pounds per month to keep this account.
No info was sent, even though they claim there was.
An avarious Bank, who obviously are only interested in high movement accounts. AVOID THIS BANK

Outstanding Customer Support at the Santander Work Cafe Jersey
I visited the Work Cafe today to urgently request some statements. Michael was incredibly helpful and patient - when I explained that I couldn’t access the statements due to switching phones and being unable to reinstall my app, Michael sat down with me and guided me through the process of reactivating and reinstalling it. He then clearly explained how I could access my statements moving forward. Michael is a real credit to the company - thank you for the excellent support :)

Good telephone support.
I had a long wait on the phone to get through to a person but I was glad I waited. Anu was very patient and helped me resolve my log in problems.

I recently closed the account as I needed the money to cure my daughter. When I arranged the transfer I was told that the money was going to be sent in sterling and therefore the receiving bank was going to exchange it. However this did not happen and the exchange was made by Santander and the rate used was far below the market rate and this made me lose over 300 euro which for some are little crumbs but for my situation it meant a lot. I did write to ask explanation but the answer was closing my login access and NO REPLY at all. So honestly after so many years of holding the account, and never had any problems, this was a very sad and ungenerous ending and proved to me how humanity has been replaced by interests and careless. I would definitely not want anything to do with this bank anymore and will advise all my international friends to stay away from it.

New fees and charges not communicated to clients
Santander International decided to implement an expensive monthly charge for not maintaining a specific minimum balance. That is understandable. However, they did not email customers to advise them of this, which is not acceptable. This is a stealth charge that occurs monthly without prior direct advice to existing customers.
This will provide good non-funds income to the bank, but will serve as a large red flag to customers to avoid such fees by moving to a bank that directly advises clients in advance of any such changes.
I received no letter from Santander advising me of ther changes, no email, and no mobile call, despite all of my contact details being correct and up to date within my account profile with them.
New fees or charges, when unannounced to customers in a direct manner, show that the charging entity is attempting to raise income in a manner akin to the vehicle financing commissions currently under investigation in the UK. Class lawsuits could ensue.
