Safestore - Burnley Arvostelua 

I want to start off by saying the staff at Burnley are fantastic - they've always been super helpful and friendly when I've interacted with them and I found using the unit to be pretty convenient.

However, I think the wider company engage in a couple of practices which are unfair to the customer.

I found the initial deal really reasonable. After a year, the price went up (as expected) as the deal came to a close. The company then "did a review of pricing" around 10 months later and the price was increased by ~11%. Another above-CPI increase within the space of a year was rather unpalatable!

When it came to leaving, the notice period policy makes it practically very difficult to act on. The policy — buried in a link within the terms and conditions rather than the main FAQ — states you must give notice at least 14 days before your invoice date. But with a 28-day billing cycle and multiple dates on every invoice (issue date, charge period start/end, and invoice due date), it's genuinely unclear which date you're supposed to work backwards from. If customers can't easily identify the correct trigger date, they'll miss the window.

In my case, by the time I realised I needed to leave, my invoice for 30/05–26/06/26 had already been issued. I've had to pay a full month's storage plus insurance for a period I won't be using the unit at all. I'd have accepted paying for the 14-day notice period: that's fair. Paying for the entire billing month, including insurance, because the notice window is difficult to track, is not.

The policy itself may be legal, but combined with how it's communicated (or not), it feels designed to catch customers out rather than inform them. I think adding a line to the invoices about the notice cut-off or making cancellation policy more easy to find and clearer on your site would really help customers avoid this confusion in future. Unfortunately, due to my leaving experience, I don’t think I’ll use Safestore again nor would I recommend them to others.

This was my first time using a storage company, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I walked in the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, which immediately put me at ease.

They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions with patience, and made sure I felt confident about the whole process. Nothing felt rushed, and their helpful attitude really stood out.

The facility itself was clean, secure, and well-organized, which gave me peace of mind about leaving my belongings there. Overall, the excellent customer service made what could have been a stressful experience feel simple and straightforward.

I’d highly recommend them to anyone, especially if it’s your first time using storage. Thank you for making it such a positive experience!

I received quotes from 3 storage companies and Safestore was the most expensive. However, I received a call from Chloe who invited me to go and see the units and we discussed rough prices. After visiting, she brought the price down and advised re insurance/boxes etc. The whole experience was pleasant, friendly and professional with no pressure. Although I ended up not needing storage, I would definitely go back to them in future. The service was excellent, the building clean and well organised and I felt that Chloe is a bonus to the organisation.

Hired a storage unit too store my belongs and even though the website states i can access the unit up too 10pm I find myself not being able to access my unit after office hours. What is the point in a storage unit you can't access 24/7 or even the 10pm stated on the website will be closing the account ASAP and moving to a different company one that allows 24/7 access and will never use safe store again

Your store however continues to be a disgrace with this content. A poor attempt at trying to divert your poor poor behaviour and customer service.

Used the Burnley store this morning to drop of a DHL parcel. They guy on reception Hanon was outstanding, he was welcoming, professional and efficient. A credit to the company and his pleasant attitude made a great start to the day.
