So phoned customer services yesterday I wanted to transfer my ISA to them but mine matures in 14 days. It was the 5 year isa.
He said i have a 30 day window to transfer in. So i thought great i will open it.
So I told him I will open it online and set the transfer in after my ISA matures. He said yes its straight forward. Went to do it this morning it can only be done in Branch and you need to book appointment. Train your staff to give correct information I hope they listen to that call He needs the feedback.

I have been with nbs for a good few years transferred to the monument branch as was easier for me staff are always polite and have helped me when needed ive never had any issues they also have more staff than my other banking branch and if need appointment you never have to wait long

A difficult company for fund transfers after maturity. I have a cash ISA which should have already been transferred at a higher rate of interest into another bank. Instead of completing the transfer to the other bank, Newcastle BS have transferred the funds into a very low interest savings account and are stalling that transfer by hiding behind supposed HMRC rules. The transfer is simply a straight cash ISA to cash ISA transfer. I have never had this with any other bank.
So investors, be wary of this bank. When you want your money transferred/ returned; they will force you to wait whilst they sit on your pot for free.
I wonder how many other Cash ISA transfers they are holding up. It will make them a fortune

my father passed away and i am dealing with his estate to help my elderly mam. we attended the branch in Hexham to close his ISA , Mam didnt wish to have 2 ISA's.
They had both just renewed their ISA's in March for £20,000. They showed no empathy and mam signed the form for £20,000 to go into her bank, this was also after getting a solicitor to verify this.
no one agent advised us that deductions would be taken off, they took off £260.57 without informing us.
My dad died, it wasnt as if he was requesting the money to make a purchase,
But my mam is entitled to the full 20k.
i emailed head office and Andrew Haigh the CEO but got no response.
Bereavement is hard enough but taken money from a deceased estate is not acceptable.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble. They took time to explain everything and it was all done with a smile. The branch was very clean and welcoming. A very good experience.😊

I have been waiting on a withdrawal from my account since 27th April and the entire process has been a complete nightmare. Every single response takes multiple days, so what should be straightforward has been dragged out for weeks.

I’ve been made to jump through every possible hoop. Despite having a secure online account with an option to update personal details, any changes simply sit as “processing” before reverting back with no notification or explanation whatsoever. Be very wary of this.

I was then asked to send HARD COPIES of my ID, proof of address and bank statements through the post, only to be told they then needed additional time to “scan” the documents before sending out some sort of verification code. The whole system feels completely outdated and unnecessarily overcomplicated.

Communication has been terrible throughout and it genuinely feels like the process is designed to make withdrawing your own money as difficult and time-consuming as possible.

After 6-7 years as a customer, I’ve now requested that they withdraw all remaining funds and close my account entirely. Absolutely shocking experience. Avoid at all costs.
