Unfortunately my experience has been extremely disappointing

I purchased a van from National Van Sales which developed problems almost immediately after purchase.

Around two months later, I currently have a financed vehicle sitting on my drive which remains unrepaired and, in my view, not in a condition to be driven. I continue to be financially out of pocket while the dispute progresses.

NVS have recently responded publicly to my Google review stating that my finance provider investigated the matter “in full” and reached its position based on the facts.

The problem is that information I have subsequently obtained through Subject Access Request material appears to contradict aspects of the information provided during the investigation. That evidence is now being challenged through the appropriate complaint process.

There has also been another rather interesting development.

I contacted the AA directly regarding AA branding/material associated with NVS. The AA confirmed to me in writing that National Van Sales is not affiliated with the AA, and the matter has been referred to the AA’s Brand Protection Team.

This is one of several matters I currently have progressing through the relevant organisations.

I’m deliberately sticking to matters I can evidence and will update this review as the respective investigations/complaints reach their conclusions.

For now, unfortunately, I could not recommend National Van Sales based on my experience.

I am sharing my experience with National Van Sales Ltd so other customers can make an informed decision before purchasing a vehicle.

I purchased a vehicle from them for £11,050 on 24 July 2026. Within only a few days of purchasing it, the vehicle developed problems. I contacted the company and returned the vehicle to them.

I was later informed that there was an ECU/electrical problem and that the ECU had been sent away to specialists/manufacturer. At this point I had already lost significant time and experienced disruption because a vehicle I had only just purchased was not usable as expected.

Because the problem occurred so soon after purchase, I made it clear that I no longer wanted to keep going through repairs and wanted the matter resolved with a refund.

One of the most frustrating parts of my experience was arranging to return their courtesy vehicle. I spoke with a member of staff that morning and, based on that conversation, understood that I could come down and the refund could be processed. After travelling and getting to around one hour away, I was then told that the refund could not be processed that day.

This resulted in more wasted time, travelling and fuel on top of the problems I had already experienced with the vehicle.

The company later told me that they would not cancel the deal at that stage because the vehicle had originally been left with them for repair, and that they intended to repair it once the ECU was returned.

From a customer’s point of view, this whole experience has been extremely disappointing. I bought a vehicle expecting to be able to use it, not to deal with a serious fault within days, repeated communications, travelling back and forth and uncertainty over getting my money back.

I have emails and communications relating to my experience and the timeline described above.

I would strongly recommend that anyone considering buying from this company does their own checks, gets everything confirmed in writing and understands exactly what will happen if a vehicle develops a fault shortly after purchase.

I hope National Van Sales resolves my case properly, but based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend them.

So i put a deposit on a van £299 was told the van needed a new mot and service which would take them upto 10 working days.As a favour they were going to organise a loan van for me which I thought that was really nice.Well the day I was due to collect the loan van they told me the other van had outstanding finance on it from a lease company and they were unable to sell it so they couldn't loan me a van.Well I just checked there website and low and behold theres the same van up for sale with finance still owing on it.if I was you please avoid this company as they tell you lies and you really dont know what your buying from them.Please make sure you goto a proper outfit not one that toys to sell vans with outstanding finance

Do not trust this company. I phoned twice to confirm vans they were advertising were there and still for sale. Drove 120 miles and after walking round their site was told they can’t find them. Advertising vans to get you there to then try and sell you more expensive vans once you’ve made the effort to get there. Avoid at all costs
