I am in shock at my experience.
I am in shock at my experience.. I applied for a loan and it was approved in March, I had signed and submitted all required documents for my loan.
Last week, which was in may, my approved loan was denied and the reason stated was that I had not submitted the required documents.
I reached out to mpower, explaining that I had sent all the required documents except the ones that will be available after my visa is granted. Mpower reached out and this time the narration changed from lack of required documents to change in policy.
To begin with when I was told lack of documents there was no mention of the documents I had skipped, now the narration was changed to internal policy was changed and they cannot tell me the policies that was changed.
An agent that called I believe said these policies where reviewed about two months ago(if I had heard and understood her correctly).... My loan have not even been approved two months ago
I was told that I cannot make another application because mpower have stopped giving out loans to international students in Canadian Universities for an indefinite timeframe.
To be honest, I don't even know what to say or believe, at first the narration was that my documents were incomplete now the narration changed to internal policy review

Most Unethical and Inconsiderate Experience Ever
This company approved and certified my loan with my school. They never raised any concern but ended up cancelling my loan in my last week of semester, claiming issues with my documents, yet they had reviewed and approved them, and the loan was under disbursement on stage.
Trust me, you are better off with other companies, even with their terms. I got the same loan but am paying wayyy less!
I am also compiling documents to report their ignorance to the relevant bodies.

Applied in good faith; denied a month later due to retroactive policy changes
I submitted my application on March 8, 2026, and waited nearly a month only to receive a denial on April 6th citing "internal policy changes due to geopolitical circumstances." MPOWER's Canada student loans page was updated on March 31 over three weeks after I applied.
When I followed up in writing asking specifically when the policy change took effect and whether it was in place at the time of my submission, I received a reply that did not answer either question. Instead, I was told all applications are reviewed under "the most recent eligibility criteria" with no acknowledgment of the timeline discrepancy I raised.
As an international student planning graduate studies in the U.S., I relied on MPOWER's stated eligibility criteria when I applied. Being subject to policy changes made after submission without any clear communication or direct answers makes it very difficult to plan financially.
I remain on the waitlist and hope MPOWER revisits this. But prospective applicants should be aware that eligibility criteria can change during the review period without notice.
