I bought a Ford Grand C-Max from these dealers on February 28th with a written assurance that the car was fit for purpose with all parts working and no issues. Nine weeks later the engine has blown and the car needs a new engine. Independent investigations by garages and the AA found the faults were present at point of sale. Having been advised by a solicitor to offer Motor Trend Ltd some options for resolution, I sent an email outlining the situation. I also sent text messages. I received no reply and eventually phoned them. Their attitude was very different from the charming façade they employed when they sold me the car, although they did accept liability in a recording. [Always best!]
Their attitude was they didn't believe me, but after I explained about breaking down in a very dangerous place on a dual carriageway A12, having the police have to shut off the roads and tow me to safety, and the AA having to recover, I think it may have hit home. The garage now holding the car, along with my solicitor, are now waiting for a decision on how Motor Trend would like to move forward, but it appears there's another excuse at every turn. I had the car less than 3 months and it had a whole list of serious issues at point of sale. Warning, steer clear!

My son bought a Golf GTI last year from this dealer, with the added assurance that the dealer committed to an AA cars standard. At the time of purchase the car also came with a 3 month AA warranty and 12 months MOT which the dealer arranged. Shortly after purchase I booked the car into VW for a DSG gear box oil service they they discovered the rear coil springs were broken and had leaking shocks.

I reported these issues to the dealer as there was doubt over the warranty coverage, and it transpired that the cover had not been put in place, this was however rectified, but I found this disappointing and frustrating to when the AA initially told me there wasn’t any cover.

This led me into the level of cover, as whilst I was aware it was for 3 months it transpired it was basic cover, and not the cover the other I was sent in emails from the dealer. I did challenge this and they informed me, what I consider quite rudely I was told in the garage it was base cover.

Anyway moving forwards, the work required to bring the vehicle back to a safe and drivable standard was approved by the AA under the warranty and work was completed upto the claim value of £1000. The work however cost £1356, which meant I had to pay the difference.

I wanted to flag this with potential buyers as whilst the car looked nice when purchased, I have concerns and question marks over the standard of the MOT as these issues should have failed the MOT. Also, their cars are supposed to be AA cars standard, which again raises questions ??

I would suggest a full independent inspection prior to parting with any money with this company, who also advertise on Autotrader
