Pathetic service!
Lost my files for both of ongoing cases, even after i sent them proof by email about both N180 packages arrived in time by post they still managed to strike 1 case out of the court without even telling me.

The winning case also could have brought over £2000 but it felt like I've been pushed to accept only £500, so i did just to get over it now after 2 years of fighting with the company i sued.

Lost only £200 applying and could have win over £2000 on the stricken out case.

If I could of put 0 stars, trust me I would have! How disappointing for such a big organisation to be so poor. From hours on the phone lines, to unclear notifications of the status of a claim, it is jus not ok! Sort yourselves out please.

was on hold for 30 mins to deal with a technical log-in issue - was told I called the wrong number and was given the correct number to call - fine. Then called this number and reached an agent after another 30 mins queuing, only for this agent to transfer me to another line after a 5 second conversation which had a queue of 29 people. Terrible service.

Needs a minus 10 rating option.

Ive spent £100 on postage...
Ive had to resend my claim form twice as they claim they lost it...
I had to send two postal orders in, no idea where one of them has gone and no refund offered!...
They sent the incorrect form for me to send in regards to a Request for Judgment...
Ive sent the correct one in via post, they have lost it...
Ive emailed it 5 times, no reply...
Ive emailed it to the complaints team, no reply...

Ive now had to go to my MP to take this to the ombudsman.

It is truly shocking and corrupt and they have potentially damaged an extremely serious claim. It has been exhausting and extremely stressful. This cant be how a court runs, can it??

I would give no stars if I could. It doesn't deserve any! The system is totally broken like the rest of this country, it seems. I was being pursued by a well known predatory debt collection agency on behalf of ParkingEye for an alleged £2 parking fee on 9 October 2021. I had paid in coins but the machine didn't record that, only card on a specific app. I submitted my defence via MCOL. I was asked if I wanted to use my existing Gateway ID so I said yes. It gave no other details. When I got to the end, I realised it was my old address from which I'd moved in January 2021. There was no way of changing the address. I could not get any assistance and time was of the essence to submit my defence. So I set up a new Gateway ID with my current address (which MCOL had used for the claim.) I emailed MCOL with all the info and asked them to change my address. I went on holiday the next day and forgot about it. I had sorted it as far as I was concerned. I received absolutely nothing by email or post. The first I knew there was a problem was when Barclaycard reduced my credit limit from £6k to £1.3k virtually overnight. When I looked at Clearscore, I saw I had a default CCJ for £336. The info was clearly at my old address. I've sent in a complaint but heard nothing. I'm not prepared to pay over £330 for a deputy judge to review my case but without guarantee of any change. I have no faith in the so-called justice system so why would I throw good money after bad? I now have this CCJ having had a previously blemish free record. Predatory parking and debt collection companies are able to weaponise the court system against the general public because the government systems do not work. This is an absolute disgrace. Yet another example of ordinary people being let down by government departments.

I wished to amend a pleading and was told I’d have to pay in excess of £300. (This is for a small claim!).

Furthermore, the case was listed for hearing with a too-short time estimate. When I pointed out that the time estimate was too short, I was told I would have to make an application and pay a fee for this as well. Contacting the court to advise that a time estimate the court has conjured up is inadequate is assisting the court with an administrative task. A party shouldn’t have to pay for this!

I remember the days when access to justice used to be affordable. No wonder the country is in such a state when barely anyone can afford to enforce their legal rights. All by design, I fear.

Cannit find my claim. Enter all the details ' claim not found ' MCOL advised to re register, fill in a form they sent and they can merge the claim. You have to log on via Govt Gateway. Thats worse than useless. Have 2 Govt Gateway accounts ( told to do this )

There was virtually no guidance provided when filling out the details required for the form.

My defendant was a well-known international brand, and I put down its main corporation as the defendant's name. I was unaware of the fact that this brand had several limited companies for each of its different operations (all of which operate from the same address), and they had specific limited company for the part I was making a claim against.

I spent 45 minutes on hold with Money Claim Online only to be told that I'd need to pay them THREE TIMES the original cost of submitting the claim to slightly alter the name of the defendant. The claim was submitted yesterday and has certainly not been processed yet. Ridiculous.

Absolutely awful, negligent, incompetent service.
Their site discourages asking for updates, I issued, got a part admission and sent back N225a immediately £9.90 Royal Mail next day signed for, accepting, weeks passed and no update, I contacted and was told it was being processed, weeks passed rang again and told send in again it had been lost, told to send in as Urgent UNPROCESSED, I then get an email from Case Management (should be Miss Management and told its in the queue and another 4/6 weeks before an update. Its a joke they make a serious error and the Claimant suffers, its not even fair on Defendants. Do they care ? Not a Jot.
If I hadn't chased it was going nowhere because no one follows anything up very poor Management and Supervision. Use your Local County Court.

Just obtained my second CCJ against Virgin Bank in 12 months by using the money claims paper system. Currently working on 3rd claim because they dont seem to learn from their mistakes

Strongly advise against using the online system. The paper system works.

Just ensure you follow proper process. First send defendant a complaint with deadline for response.
If no joy, send your letter before action by special del. Clearly outline your grievance and required outcomes with a 15 day deadline for response.

If no joy, complete the N1 with your particulars of claim in which you provide more detail: what happened when.
Include your evidential bundles in duplicate: evidence to back up your particulars of claim eg proof of defendant's receipt of LBA, copy of complaints, responses, LBA.

If no defense put forward, use relevant form to request a judgement the minute the deadline lapses.

The process and crucially its appeal process is run by imbeciles, my claim was struck off because MCOL failed to send me the questionnaire I needed to complete for the case to proceed, and no amount of calls, emails, and letters ever got me anywhere. Worst organisation I’ve ever dealt with, and that includes NTL.

Sent a claim that I owe a bathroom installer money even though he’s ruined my bathroom.sent the paper form back Saturday 2 hrs after receiving by recorded delivery as struggle online after a tia mini stroke.7 days on trying to find out if they’ve received it no communication nothing.Forget ringing them it’s impossible no matter what time you call.Bear in mind if you are seen as not responding you get a ccj and potentially take your house.All this stress has left me not wanting to be here anymore quick enough to take your court fee.Have we not been through enough with a potential full start from scratch new bathroom maybe needed on top of paying a £10k loan we got for the bathroom this court needs shutting down immediately the reviews speak for theirselves,

Don't waste your time and money. Nothing will be recovered by CCJ. They only exist to take your money. 5 years ago made a claim against rent loss. For 5 years heard nothing, not even an email.

I think there should be a Tort action against this company for deliberately setting up thier appeals procedure so that all appeals are in thier favour. Additionally an investigation should be conducted on the judge and his financial records and the lifestyle fully investigated for potential monies received by parent companies or third parties from this company or employee's.

Nearly 2 years later and finally get no reason for the final result after paying out to the courts. Literally incompetent muppets happy to take your money

Two of my claims were struck out without even getting a hearing, Judges are utterly unfit for the job, had to report two of them to the JCIO, they take £465 off you but do not refund. The portal is pathetic, you can not see what the defendant replies to them with. I have asked many times for things to be amended they do not reply on email, I have sent the same requests in the post, not sure if I will ever hear from them. The justice system is geared up for criminals . The country is a disgrace! No wonder people take matters into their own hands, as the police or courts do not protect innocent people. I have been ripped off, stalked, harassed, social media accounts taken down, fraud committed, perjury and the list goes on, I started this claim in November 2021. Now having to go through it all again with a new claim. Im fuming and disgusted.

Completely pointless system. Nothing gets updated during the process leaving you confused about what is happening. Most of the time when you try to fill in any of the required fields with information, you just get an error message and are left wondering if this will negatively effect your case. Honestly, the system may as well revert back to the traditional paper only method if this is the best digital solution anyone can come up with. Terrible.

The online portal is completely unfit for purpose. I am trying to respond to the defendant but just get the message there are technical problems and try later. I’ve tried multiple times, each time filling the form out again. I just get the same message.
I haven’t been able to read the defendant’s full response either for the same reason.

The Civil Money Claims Portal Is a Shambles – Justice Denied by Design

I tried to manage my legal claim through the official online portal, as required — all I needed was to enter a username, password, and claim number. But the portal is completely broken. It doesn’t load properly, the sign-in button vanishes, and nothing works, even across multiple browsers and devices.

This isn’t just poor tech — it’s a complete failure of the legal system. Claimants are locked out, unable to request judgment, and left in limbo while court staff shrug and say “use the portal.”

How are we supposed to meet legal deadlines or access justice when the system gatekeeping it doesn’t even function?

People are losing cases, missing deadlines, and being put under extreme stress. This isn’t justice — it’s digital incompetence on a national scale.

Fix the system — or stop pretending the UK has accessible justice.
