Abandoning Livedrive.
After 11 years of continuous use, I am ceasing our company's reliance on livedrive, because we no longer can. We have been noticing the failure of random files to fail to upload to backup for about a year now and recently have experienced one of our off site terminals to fail to connect with livedrive. The error message reads 'Cannot connect to Livedrive. Please check your internet connection.' Oddly enough, a Google search using those two sentences reveals zero results. There is nothing wrong with the internet connection (I am using it to write this review). We will now migrate to Microsoft onedrive.

Gelegentliche Datenverluste + LogIn Issues
Die Grundidee von Livedrive ist gut: im UI ein Laufwerk wie jedes andere, das Daten mit der Cloud synchronisiert. Das hat mich vor 10 Jahre ueberzeugt und seither habe ich den Service genutzt. Preislich liegt das ja ganz gut.
Allerdings gibt 3 negative Erfahrungen, wobei die erste (Datenverlust) dazu fuehrt, dass ich LD nicht weiter nutzen werde.
1. Datenverlust: ueber die Zeit, sind mehr und mehr Dateien beschaedigt worden, und entweder unlesbar, oder bei Bilder fehlt ein Teil des Bildes / ist Pixelmuell. Ich habe das ueber mehr als ein Jahr mit dem Support zu adressieren versucht, aber auszer "wir arbeiten immer noch daran" ist nicht dabei heraus gekommen. Eine finale Rueckmeldung habe ich nie bekommen.
2. Die offline (=lokal) gespeicherten Daten sind unzugaenglich, wenn man offline ist, wenn man nicht zumindest kurz fuer einen LogIn Online gehen kann. Denn das LDr Laufwerk existiert dann schlichtweg nicht in der Windows Oberflaeche. Das mach das Offline Speichern von Daten bzw Anwendungsfaelle, in denen man nicht staendig online ist, ziemlich sinnfrei. Das ist insbesondere deswegen bedeutsam, weil zumindest bei Nutzung mobiler Netze haeufig die Windows LDr APP Verbindungsprobleme hat (also kein LogIn moeglich ist), waehrend man sich im Browser problemlos einloggen kann, was aber dann keinen Zugang zu den Offline gespeicherten Dateien ermoeglicht (sondern nur erneuten Download, was bei groeszeren Datenmengen wenig attraktiv ist). Das mag ein Problem des TelCo Providers sein, aber aendert nichts daran, dass es unsinnig ist, nur fuer den LogIn eine Serververbindung zu benoetigen, wenn man ansonsten auf lokal gespeicherte Dateien zugreifen will.
3. Die LDr Server sind relativ langsam. Oft kann man nur mit 50-100 kb/s herunterladen (tageszeitabhaengig), auch wenn die eigene Verbindung nachweislich mehrere MB/s zuliesze.
Alles in allem technisch also leider nicht wirklich gut umgesetzt.

I used Livedrive for 10+ years. In the early years, they were a good choice. Integration with windows explorer and sync between multiple devices. But later on, I started discovering not all files are kept on Livedrive, and their tool is not detecting that. So, because of the huge amount of data, it is not easy to check how many times this happens. Well, I know now. I lost 10% of my data. They have been "studying" the problem for more than a year. This was just to keep me going AND paying. Then, they concluded is was because the file never reached them. Well, that is easy, my computers are always online, at university, at work. Time enough to upload. But it is their tool that failed to upload. A LOT OF DATA LOSS. installed Onedrive, microsoft is now way ahead of them, much more features AND cheaper. Livedrive is a sinking ship trying to get still as much money as possible. Stay away.
I cannot access my account and want to cancel account
I cannot access my account. Despite many emails I have not received an answer or was contacted. I cannot call because my english is not good enough for a telefone call. I am a customer since 2019 and because of the above I want to cancel my account. My payment is due 10th of April, but I don't want to pay anymore for this horrible service, which is non existent!

Something has gone wrong at Live Drive
Something has gone wrong at Live Drive. They used to be a respectable company but now they are a bucket shop.
I received an email saying my account would 'auto renew' when the contract ended in 1 month's time. I decided to turn off 'auto renew' so that I could think about whether to renew or not. However, there is no option to turn off auto renew...hah!
In the email they had sent me there was a link to 'cancel'. I went through that process assuming the account would be cancelled at the end of my paid-for term. Nope, it cancelled immediately. They revoked my login credentials and, presumably, deleted all my data. And they will not respond to any emails about the issue.

Since 2016, I reinstalled AirLiveDrive about twice or thrice a year, just to see if it got any "better" (aka if it worked at all).
But for the last 8 years (!!!!) AirLiveDrive managed to connect to my 16TB MEGA cloud about... 2 times. And even then I could never open a file, any file. And it stopped "working" in a minute anyway.
Only thing you get with AirlLiveDrive is : "Error connecting Mega". And that's all. No log. Nothing. Good luck with that....
Because of that, I have to pay 30 bucks a year, and use Raidrive, which never failed me once (worked perfectly with Dropbox GDrive then MEGA, the three storages I used along the years).
Sincerely sorry for all the gullible who gave money to those AirLiveDrive crooks who have been advertising for 8 years a mapped access to MEGA that clearly NEVER WORKED.

*** ZERO STARS *** I can finally review this AWFUL, DIRE, DREADFUL company. Now that I have finally got rid of them, it took them MINUTES to delete my account -- no warning -- no message. JUST GONE. These people are not only incompetent but HORRIBLE! I have been FIGHTNG / PLEADING / BEGGING / BESEECHING them to recover lost / non-uploaded / "corrupted" files -- FOR YEARS. I have had over 1000 files (including IMPORTANT LEGAL DOCS and chapters of a PhD thesis) which have "not been uploaded" (and so lost -- FOREVER!). Don't be fooled, though. Of the tens of thousands of files "uploaded" -- I cannot estimate how many are "corrupted" (in my case, PDFs and DOC(X)s files). They APPEAR there -- but, you try to open them: Absolutely F****D -- and USELESS. I have been made mentally and physically ILL by my experiences with this shower!
Within 10 mins of filling in the form saying I want to quit ~~ Then I get a popup saying "account not found." Presumably they are "deleting my data" -- as if I had not downloaded all this first -- DESPICABLE!!!!! I CANNOTBELIEVE HOW UTTERLY TERRIBLE these people are!! *** PLEASE BE WARNED """

I have pointed at the "L" drive ("Livedrive") and searched for files ending in "ld" (that is ones NOT uploaded) -- this shows a TINY portion of the over 1000 files LOST forever due to "not uploading". PLEASE BE CAREFUL -- HOW DO YOU KNOW that they've "not uploaded"? Are you supposed to TEST EVERY file EVERY time you change and resave? It HAS BEEN A NIGHMARE. TRULY!!!

LOSS of MANY files has caused me heartbreak, as well as mental anguish. Loss of chapters in a PhD thesis has made me ILL.
I have wasted LARGE amounts of time trying to recover data that should just "be there." All to no avail. Your "technical team" sends messages such as:
"With regard to the investigation itself, we have added your account to a tool we have in place that will search all of our servers to determine the status of the files on your account. This can be a lengthy process depending on the amount of data, as soon as we have an update we will contact you.
~~ A "lengthy process" indeed ~~ NO ONE has contacted me with an "update" AT ALL.
In my experience, Livedrive is an ABSOLUTELY AWFUL, ABYSMAL and USELESS service provider.

Ah, the old trick of "we did reply" but it's gone in Spam/Junk.
I HAVE RECEIVED NO SUCH E-MAIL confirming closure of the account, not a minute later, not two hours later.
I restate: I have over 1,000 files "missing". Of those which ARE supposedly there, MANY are "0kB" -- in effect, completely lost.
LIVEDRIVE is -- in my opinion -- based on my experiences -- COMPLETELY UNFIT for PURPOSE. I've been paying £10 a month for years. YOU HAVE LOST MY DATA.
Any then you have unilaterally closed my account. ** I HAVE NOT RECIEVED ANY NOTIFICATION ** A window popped up pretty much immediately after I sent the "leave form" saying "CANNOT CONNECT TO LIVEDRIVE".
All I can say is -- other potential customers -- BE WARNED -- and TAKE HEED!

I have used Livedrive for a few years to back up old files. I went to log in today and got the message 'account suspended'. No reason, no explanation, and no means of getting in contact to ask why. Very frustrating.

Be carefull they lose your files
I have been a client since 2010. As a photographer I use this system as a second archive. I have back ups at external harddisks and on the Livedrive Briefcase cloud. Things didn't run smooth and files didn't get uploaded sometimes. I had to always double check and do it again. There are some holes in my archive, but not of the things I double checked. But the big problem now is that Livedrive lost the uploaded files now too. I mean I uploaded photos, it has been confirmed all the 27 mb's (example) are there, but it won't download. These pictures are worth money and my external harddrives are not all alive anymore so I have a big problem. I talked to their support for a month about this issue online (no phonecall possible) and they keep saying it is a lenghty process or we are sorry, but I cannot accept this. Awful Service, Unhelpful Staff, Poor Procedures
Been a customer for almost a decade, I've finally had enough though and cancelled. Yet despite them confirming the account would be terminated and I'd not be rebilled, I have been charged again (along with a 70% hike in fees). They are now not responding to support my tickets, perhaps because I was too honest when sharing what I thought of their service.
The briefcase portion has worked fine in general and I had thought the backup portion was working fine, although it seems it hasn't been and I've been paying for a service that doesn't work for 10 years.
Recently I tried to restore all my device backups and was unable to do so, software would just hang and rarely do anything. I obviously contacted support, who rather than actually try and resolve the issue just fobbed me off with excuse after excuse after excuse. Couldn't even be bothered to perform the most basic troubleshooting.
They even trying to get out of assisting by saying that the T&Cs stated these files shouldn't still be in the backup system as the devices they were backed up from up were no longer connected to Livedrive (Which completely defeats the point of a backup service!!!!) Well they had died a death, so of course they were not. The T&Cs didn't state that when I signed up, nor did they ever notify me about any changes to terms and conditions. My files were clearly there in their system, they just couldn't be bothered to help. I managed to restore a subset of my data, after troubleshooting issues with their software myself, but haven't been able to obtain everything.
Even if the software was functioning properly, it won't allow a bulk restore of a devices files, you have to go and restore individual folders which is a horrendous experience and quite frankly ridiculous for what is meant to be a modern piece of software.
If you are a current Livedrive customer, I'd recommend checking you can actually restore your backups and then move elsewhere ASAP, espcially if you are a business.
If you are thinking of becoming a Livedrive customer, just don't and save yourself the time and hassle.
I've ended up using Cloudberry Backup Free alongside an AWS S3 bucket and I've replicated their backup service for about 10p per month of storage charges (yes, 10 PENCE) for what Livedrive now want to charge £14 a month for (and their service doesn't even work properly!)

Pricing has gone through the roof
I've been a customer of Livedrive for a decade and in the past it's been keenly priced, especially the 5-year subscription option. Now that's gone, and at next renewal I'll now face a 169% increase in cost per year. 'abyss' commented in May on an almost doubling in price - this is not far short of a tripling!
They can't blame this on Brexit, the Russians or global warming. Storage isn't getting more expensive. And it doesn't need too many costly humans demanding 10%+ pay rises to upload my data.
As someone else has commented, these sharp hikes in charges now make Livedrive's offering very poor, and I'll be looking elsewhere when my subscription runs out.
They also REFUSE to take an account off of auto-renewal. Even Norton who always seem to do everything possible to grab more customer ££ allows you to turn that off. There's a sharp business practice for you!
And I see they never respond to any of the comments here about these price increases. It's all just corporate greed. A sorry loss of a once great, good value company.
