Disappointing conveyancing experience
The sale has now completed, but unfortunately my overall experience with Layzells was disappointing.
I instructed them in April to handle the sale of my leasehold property and associated lease extension. I appreciate there were other parties involved and that not every delay was within Layzells’ control. However, I frequently found myself having to chase for updates, establish what was outstanding and push matters forward myself.
There were also several avoidable issues, including incorrect/old tenant details on legal documents, the wrong sale price initially appearing on the TR1, incorrect contact details being used for DocuSign and repeated requests for information/signatures that had already been provided.
The communication and proactive case management were particularly frustrating. I had to repeatedly ask for clear timescales and confirmation of what remained outstanding, rather than feeling that the transaction was being actively managed.
To be fair, they ultimately got the matter completed and dealt with the various lease and freehold requirements. However, the journey was unnecessarily stressful and protracted.
For a professional conveyancing service, I expected better attention to detail, communication and ownership of the transaction. I would not use Layzells again.
