From good service at Mundays to a deeply distressing experience with Knights

I was a satisfied Mundays client before Knights took over. My experience since has been appalling.

Despite my understanding that Cala would fund my legal fees—and Cala paying my replacement solicitors—Knights pursued me personally for disputed additional charges.

I complained in February 2025. Knights promised a final response by 7 April. I have received no substantive final determination.

I then discovered a County Court judgment through an enforcement notice, having received no claim papers. I am challenging it.

Disputed charges, an unresolved complaint and unexpected enforcement: a deeply distressing experience. I would not recommend Knights.

Katie and the team at Knights were absolutely brilliant in helping me navigate a really difficult and unexpected situation with my daughters’ schools. Katie was calm, clear, responsive and genuinely supportive throughout, which made a huge difference at a very stressful time.

I always felt that she understood both the legal position and, importantly, what was at stake for us as a family. A big thank you also to Christian for his initial advice and steer at the very start, which was incredibly helpful.

We have recently bought a house, the process for which is complex and confusing. We were lucky enough to be represented at Knights by Rachel Byles, who's guidance and support were outstanding. Her explanations of the process and it's often confusing requirements were clarity itself and her patience with our many enquirys exemplary. There was never a moment when we thought we were not being well served, or that she was not proceeding with matters as quickly as she could. Overall, it was an extremely professional performance on her part which made our participation much easier than we expected. The selling process had many curve balls, all of which were out of our control, but Rachael carefully explained and communicated with me every step of the way. Every aspect of the service provided by Hannah and Louise was great, from first meeting Hannah (on the strong recommendation of friends) to the completion of my property sale, with great speed and efficiency, at a fair price for their excellent service. They were very respectful and listened carefully, but were also very clear with their advice. Neither pushy nor deferential, simply outstanding professionals in a well run professional company.

If you are considering Knights for family law, then please consider another firm.

If you do use them and are allocated Mel Loxley, please ask for someone else.

Loxley represents my father in law in a divorce and has bled him dry. She continues to rack up enormous bills which he can't afford and has made him sign something which gives Knights first dibs on his divorce settlement which means he will end up with very little.

None of this would be my business except today Loxley wrote to a third party and made a series of false and defamatory allegations against me even thought I am not a party to proceedings. I'm aware that some lawyers use dirty tactics but this was a bit extreme. I will be following up Loxley's unprofessional conduct with her firm but quite frankly I am disgusted by her behaviour and it's not the first time she has pulled this sort of stunt.
