Teachers and staff are great. Changing the platform after school starting was not great. The new platform has way too many glitches and didn't need changed after all these years. Some parts of it are not as easy or transparent than the old platform.

Best decision I ever made for my child
I have been apart of the K12 system for going into the seventh year now this next coming School season. It's been the best decision we ever made to utilize this opportunity and be a hands on parent with my child's education parent. I like that I'm able to see if he has confusion and stop him and help him rather than him just getting his answer wrong or struggling I'm there to help before we move on. They offer a variety of face to face outings, counseling, engaging clubs in a wide variety of areas. It offers multiple ways of engaging in socialization with other peers his age daily. Again K12 was there for us when we needed education at home for our child and we haven't looked back since.

This year felt unorganized
I don’t care for this years tech updates they were very confusing especially always having to “clear the cache”. Last school year was much better and easier going. The kids don’t really get to engage like they did last year. They have sessions with the teachers but it’s not for the full time. I don’t care for them being put in “tables” to work alone for half of the class, it seems pointless. This year it seems like there was very minimal teacher engagement with the class. This school year felt very unorganized and for those reasons I may be removing my child from OHVA.

History/ Government classes need to reflect all aspects of History with THE TRUTH.
When having college campus visits, there should be transportation support for those that need it.
When students graduating, OHVA should have ample information about internships, apprenticeships for ALL CTE fields.
Foreign languages should have live classes with an instructor on every level

Such a great safe experience for kids
The teachers are very nice and don't have any means to accuse students of threatening behavior like they do in the public schools. My son didn't like the public schools much and wanted to join online schools since he was in the 8th grade which I should have done for all of the children. Thank God for online schools!

We have been having nothing but problems with the computer and system all year which affects his grades. I like having him do it at home but it would be better if the computer actually worked on a consistent basis.

The program use to be better
I dont like how the OLS was changed and now my children dont have fun ways of practicing what they learn.
I dont like that one of my children's teachers was mean and made it difficult for my children to ask for help.
I dont like that when my child's therapist and psychiatrist had me reach out for educational assistance that my child was shut down without even having the opportunity to hear concerns or fully evaluate her. My daughter has difficulties in learning and I felt no one cared

School experience
The teachers have been amazing this year. My son has really enjoyed this school year. Any help he has needed was given. Teachers like Mrs. Congemi have made this year amazing. She really does go above and beyond for her students.

Overall a very good program
Overall a very good program. My daughter has been going here for 5 years and my son just started kindergarten. My kids will be attending again . The only things that I'm not too pleased about are the way we log the hours honestly I'm very forgetful I have 5 kids and I don't always remember to log hours. When I do go to catch up it's kind of inconvenient how they have classes in there that are not necessary to be on there it used to be a fast easy process now it's like I have to skip over all these unnecessary classes that are on there for no reason and it makes me click the wrong things sometimes. Also the new system I still haven't gotten used to but that may be because I'm not that tech savvy. Lastly the amount of work kindergarten has compared to my 8th grader is pretty insane . My son has speech problems so he gets very frustrated having to read through all his work and finds it unfair that my daughter gets done hoursss before him and to have a 5 year old sit through all that work isn't easy . He has a lot of melt downs and is easily frustrated by the process. But like I said overall we have enjoyed OHVA k12 so much so that we are renewing. It's just going to take some getting used to with the new set up.

Younger learners—particularly those with speech or reading challenges—can find the structure demanding, and it’s tough when siblings finish at such different times. Your son’s frustration is completely valid, and we know how hard it can be to support a little one through those moments. We’re continually reviewing grade‑level expectations and student support needs to help make learning more manageable and developmentally appropriate.
