Have been using PHPstorm for 10+ years for PHP development and DB management and comparing it to IDEs from another vendors it seems to be most convenient and feature-full for me. Sometimes I do have trouble with project reindexing, but the good working strategy is to skip the update for a couple of months and do it only after a few patches :) The last thing that significantly improved my workflow is the HTTP client and its development in recent IDE versions. So for a reasonable price you can get an instrument that successfully replaces a bunch of others, but is not overloaded with useless features at the same time.

After many years of use and with the last (expensive) hike in price I have decided to move away from Jetbrains product suite. Constant problems with indexing where attributes are not recognised (angular). The issues are always there and hard to resolve with each update. I have moved to vscode where I'm not having to debug the IDE and its free.

While they might be expensive if you live in a lower income country the tools are some of the most pleasant and hassle free I have ever used for programming. Which often is the reason I decide to keep my subscription active.
I would recommend them, but also research them yourself. The best parts outside the IDE's are the perpetual fall-back licenses and the up to 40% discount you can receive from them for being a long term customer.

The tools they release every year seem to be progressively laggy. Trying to use multiple studios simultaneously is virtually impossible, as they consume all the available memory on your computer. I've also experienced constant issues with lost indexes. Additionally, their licensing system is not user-friendly. I have a license from my company and a private one; since I use two different studios, I'm constantly having to log in and out when switching between them.

Hi,

I noticed a few annoying bugs in PyCharm recently.

1. While opening the project folder, a new folder created in Explorer doesn't appear in the PyCharm window.
2. Newly created files like Github Readme don't appear in files and dir structure.

I managed to solve these problems by restarting PyCharm but this is a 1-star service for me with these bugs.

JetBrains replied to my review one day after posting it assuring that they are working on solving reported problems.

I find that a 5-star service because although PyCharm has some bugs the developer cares about customers and works on customer satisfaction from their products.

Products are fine (I use phpStorm from time to time) but their commercial policy sucks.

For instance, if you're a freelancer working as a sole trader, then you can buy licenses at a discounted price. If you're a freelancer working under your own company, privately-owned, no other shareholders, no staff or whatsoever, then you pay way more.

If you bought the "personal" license, which according to their policy can be used for commercial purposes too, then they refuse to provide you with a compliant VAT invoice, and kindly offer to upgrade to their "company" license which is nothing more than the same product at a 250% price level.

I get they are trying to differentiate their pricing depending how deep your pockets are, but they are using the wrong parameters to classify their customers. I hate this kind of practices, and will gladly buy from a competitor instead.

Using pycharm all the time.
Dislike that they put VAT over the price.

This company does not respect anything, removes your annual reduction of 40% on the price overnight under a false pretext and without having asked for anything! No possibility of negotiation with closed customer support that makes you understand that it is like that, and that you have to pay full price, even if you have been a customer for 4 years.

Excellent company, fantastic tools that just works and make you really productive. I also asked for a financial help from jetbrains as I wanted to keep using Jetbrains Academy for upskilling but since I have to pay two rent at the same time it was a bit difficult for me to pay immediatly for an other annual subscription. They understood my situation and gave me 3 month for free. This is really appreciated.

Wer sich das "All Products Package" kauft um zu prüfen, was er wirklich benötigt wird bei einem Downgrade nur 1 Produkt mit dem entsprechenden Abschlag per Jahr bekommen. Meine Empfehlung ist: Nur das kaufen was wirklich benötigt wird und vorab prüfen, ob andere Produkte nicht ebenfalls das Erforderliche können.
Manche der Produkte sind ganz brauchbar aber manche eben auch gar nicht bzw. werden mit OSS Produkten sogar besser gelöst.

Although JetBrains ReSharper is a useful product, there is a really annoying and time wasting problem with their software that was first raised 14 years ago and has not been resolved.

JetBrains have basically refused to address the issue which would be really simple for them to fix. If they don't care about their products then neither do I.

Every time I try and fix an issue with something in a JetBrains product, it is so difficult. They hide everything that the tool does from you, the documentation is awful because it only gives the easiest happy path answers.

Stop using big clunky tools from Jetbrains and move on to better software.

I'm a new customer and let me write about what you would expect from JetBrains.

First thing, they offer 30 days trial on their IDEs. This is really nice because it is more than enough time to evaluate the IDE. It was enough for me to consider getting a year of subscription after the trial ended.

I had some questions regarding the IDE itself (technical) and about getting a subscription but for a different email. All questions have been answered (via email) within 1 business day, sometimes faster. Their customer support not only answers inquiries, they also provide helpful links for further reading if you'd need to. To me, that's top-notch customer support.

Regarding the IDE itself, I'm shocked that this beast runs like it's not a heavyweight. It starts within a few seconds. To be honest, comparing to VS Code, I don't see much difference in performance, and JetBrains' IDEs are packed with so much productivity features that I consider it a heavyweight.

I also liked the fact that when I used another account (logged out the old account and logged in with a new one), it retained the settings of the IDE. I was scared that it would reset the IDE settings because I switched to a new account.

My favorite features of JetBrains IDE:

1. Find Usage / Go to Declaration
- this works even on a dynamic type language like PHP. Really helpful especially for large projects!

2. Inspect/Analyze Code
- this is without a doubt my most favorite feature. This alone is worth the subscription!

3. Retains current IDE settings even when you logged in with a new account
- removes the pain of reconfiguring the IDE again. It can even sync to your other devices!

4. Easy to switch accounts

5. Powerful plugins
- I think every useful plugin exists in JetBrains! You can also easily disable plugins you don't need.

6. Perpetual Fallback License
- if you subscribe for at least 12 months, you'll automatically get a PFL. There are just times that you're too broke and won't be able to renew, no problem, you can keep using the IDE.

Conclusion:
I definitely recommend JetBrains IDEs especially if you're a professional. They just make programming a lot easier! You won't need any other IDE, everything is here. Easily worth the subscription.

then i moved to Rider for unity projects and it was easy and friendly user

then i webstorm for angular and it was awesome

The customer support in the last year has really gone down hill. Reported issues are not being responded to in a timely manner. I have one that has not been responded to for 3 weeks now.

Used Intellij IDEA with Java for two university classes. Loved it. Good product, keep up the work.

Pretty good system for project management, they have some free options to get started too.

Excellent products. Great support. Please, go on forever :)
