Pepijn Tigges Surfcoaching Arvostelua 

I embarked on a renegade surf trip to the Maldives in March 2023. Everything about this trip felt different to my previous surf holidays, this was an elite experience and the coaching was another level to what I have previously experienced.

Pepi is a professional surfer, he competes for his country, it’s his life and when he’s not competing, he’s coaching.

Other coaches in the past don’t have his experience and knowledge, there’s a huge amount to learn in surfing and when you want to push yourself to that higher level, you want a professional….Pepi is that coach.

He can watch and analyse instantly what is going right and wrong, but not bombarding you with too much info and instead giving you a step by step guidance to follow. As anyone knows who surfs, you can be given too many instructions, which doesn’t work and becomes frustrating when you’re trying to remember and carry out. He completely gets this and makes sure you follow a step by step plan that works for you and allows you to work at it with him patiently guiding you.

There’s a lot of coaches out there who can give you basic guidance, but if you want to take it to the next level from intermediate upwards, you need a professional like Pepi.

His video guidance is so vital to improving and I’d say to anyone who wants to progress is to get him to analyse your videos. It’s so so helpful.

Also his knowledge on boards and what’s best for certain types of waves is also very useful. Even though I have a good understanding of what boards to use in certain waves, he helped explained the different aspects of board designs, as I’m sure you’re aware there’s lots on the market nowadays and his knowledge stopped me getting a custom. This is until I improve a lot more, which I will do under Pepi’s coaching in the future : )

I spent 10 days on an epic surf coaching trip with Pepijn in the Maldives and both the location and coaching experience was top class.

As I mainly surf a wave pool at home I found it a bit tricky in the ocean. However, Pepijn carefully tailored his coaching for what I needed as well as teaching surfing fundamentals in an easy to understand way. I made good progression on the trip and was given a PDF of coaching points I am still working on at home to continue my surfing journey.

Pepijn is a top guy, he always had time for our group in and out of the water and has a clear passion and talent for teaching.

If you are thinking of working with Pepijn I would not hesitate to book a trip/coaching session.

During my 10-day surf coaching trip in the Maldives, I had the opportunity to be coached by Pepijn. Whilst I had been working with a different coach for the entire year leading up to that trip, I must admit that Pepijn's coaching surpassed my expectations. His explanations were incredibly clear, and suddenly everything about surfing started to click for me. I finally understood the precise actions I needed to take on the wave in order to achieve the desired results.

Not only was Pepijn a surf theory genius, but he was also the coolest person to hang out with. He possesses a warm, thoughtful, and encouraging personality that made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall I made some serious progress under his guidance, and now I can't wait to plan another trip with him!

De coaching trips is echt perfect als je vast zit met je progressie en de volgende fase van je surf wilt bereiken! Ik heb in één week meer geleerd dan in 1,5 jaar surfen met losse lesjes. Echt een aanrader! Perfecte boost om zelf verder te gaan.

Naast dat Pepijn ontzettend veel surfkennis heeft, weet die het ook heel goed over te brengen. Ik heb zelf niet eerder zoveel geleerd over surfen in een week. Zeker een aanrader voor iedereen die serieus aan de slag wil met z’n surfen. Daarnaast is Pepijn ook echt een goede gast, gezellig en heel relaxed.

6 daagse surfweek gedaan in Vieux Boucau. Pepijn weet heel veel van surfen en weet het heel duidelijk over te brengen, doormidden van heldere voorbeelden en kan goed differentiëren. Een week les gehad heeft me veel meer geleerd dan 3 jaar verschillende leraren.

Very nice, honest and calm instructor. Gives good feedback suited to your level. Group size was not too big. Pepijn is always open for suggestions. Great overall experience, learned a lot!

Met Pepijn op coaching trip is super. In een week veel geleerd. Pepijn geeft handzame tips waar je direct mee aan de slag kunt. Hierdoor heb ik progressie gemaakt in het surfen en is het mij duidelijk hoe de theorie nu precies werkt. Het aanbod van coaching is passend bij je niveau en de sfeer onderling erg goed. Bovendien was de accomodatie en locatie ook super. Ik zou het zeker aanraden!

I recently did a surf coaching trip with Pepijn in the Maldives.
He did a great job of analysing the surf videos of everyone on the boat, and in a very positive way, clearly explained how to improve the things that we each needed to work on in very detailed and easy to follow tips.
I was amazed, that already on the second day I could see remarkable improvements in everybody's surfing, mine included .
Pepijn is a great guy and you can see that he really enjoys coaching people and helping them to improve their surf skills, I can totally recommend him as a patient and attentive coach, I'm looking forward to surfing with him again in the near future.
I have continued to follow Pepijn's pointers and continue to see my surfing improving with every session since my coaching trip. Thanks Pepijn 🤙

I'm an average intermediate surfer and Pepijn coached me on a Renegade surf trip in Maldives twice now.

It's pretty clear that he's done a lot of thinking and work behind the scenes as the whole concept of surfing is broken down into bite sized chunks of information and techniques that are actionable and relatively easy to remember.

Can honestly say that his coaching has taken my surfing to the next level. Not so much in terms of immediate results, as surfing is still incredibly hard and takes ages to actually get better, but more so that now I have a clear idea of what it is that I need to do on the wave. I'm now able to deconstruct my surfing myself and spot mistakes and understand what the fixes and mechanics of various movements are.

TLDR; Pepijn teaches you how to fish instead of catching one for you ;D

Tijdens mijn sessie met Pepijn Ben ik in 2 kleine uren meer te weten gekomen dan ik kon verwachten. Hij laat je zelf stilstaan bij je proces en geeft je de duwtjes in de rug waar nodig. Alle uitleg is heel simplistisch en makkelijk op te pikken, dat werd ook meteen duidelijk toen in het water alles omgezet werd in resultaten. Hij onthaalde me met dezelfde stoke die mij de sport lief maakt en dus alleen maar aanstekelijker werkte. Ik kan niet wachten op de volgende sessie om terug mijn ervaring met de zee te versterken!

I had a private coaching session with Pepijn in small, but clean waves. Initially I was not sure if the waves would be challenging enough to improve my technique, but from the beginning Pepijn took the pressure off and told me to just catch as many waves as possible. During the session we had two breaks to discuss specifics of the technique, immediately underpinned by looking back at videos of my surfing. This helped a great deal to concentrate on specific elements of my technique and to immediate improvements during the session. After the coaching on the beach, I received lots of videos allowing me to look at my common mistakes and Pepijn provided a lot of tips also in writing to help me focus my next session with small steps that will lead to progression. All in all a great experience with a very nice surf coach who’s explanations are clear and easy to follow.

Vorig jaar ben ik begonnen met surfen en liep al snel tegen de onlinecursus aan. Een prettige en duidelijke cursus met veel video’s. Heel fijn om dit thuis in alle rust te bekijken, zodat ik steeds weer kon bedenken waarop ik mij de volgende surfsessie zou willen richten.
Toch wilde ik ook een keer live les van Pepijn. Met enige spanning weliswaar, omdat ik nog zo veel te leren heb. Pepijn is echt een fijne gast, stelde me direct op mijn gemak en liet me voelen dat mijn niveau niks uitmaakte. Het ter plekke terugkijken van je eigen surfacties met daarbij de heldere tips van Pepijn, maakte dat ik er ter plekke mee aan de slag kon.

Kortom: ik neem zeker nog vaker een les bij Pepijn.

Overigens ben ik onlangs weer opnieuw begonnen met de online-cursus, omdat ik nu op een ander punt sta met surfen en er nu andere dingen uit haal.

Op zondag 29 januari heb ik van Pepijn en Martijn een masterclass gehad in surftechniek en in de training om jezelf zo goed mogelijk voor te bereiden en het verbeteren van je beperkingen op surftrainings gebied. Erg goede dag, heldere uitleg en heel veel praktijkoefeningen gedaan in de gym. Ik raad zo'n masterclass zeker aan als je jezelf wil blijven uitdagen om beter te worden.

Pepijn asked me to paddle out in conditions that I doubted beforehand, but it ended up being a really good north sea snow surf! In these two hours we had two intermissions in which Pepijn took his time to explain what I can improve (even whilst it was freezing and snowing!) His explanations were very comprehensible and calm.

What I liked best is that he expressed beforehand that its all about making mistakes, so to not put any pressure on myself. That helped me relax and actually enjoy the surf aswell. Very happy with what I've learned in just one session already. Enough to work on in the future!

It was a great day to learn from Pepijn en Martijn. Theory was directly converted to practice. Good personal tips and examples to immediately improve your surfer skills. Curious what next events are coming up definitely want to be part of this. Keep up the good work guys.

Voor het eerst een surf coaching sessie gehad bij Pepijn waarbij ik werd gefilmd. Ik had mezelf eigenlijk nog nooit op camera gezien, maar enorm inzichtelijk. Veel goede tips ontvangen, en erg gezellig met Pepijn. Kijken, wijzen, draaien (on repeat) :)

I enjoyed the masterclass at Live PT from Pepijn and Martijn. I received a lot of useful feedback witch I can use in my surfing. They gave me specific tips and ideas to improve my surfing. didn’t have time to try it in the water.. but warmer weather is coming soon!

Eind januari 2023 heb ik een masterclass surftechniek en fitness van Pepijn gevolgd. Gaaf om te zien hoe gedreven Pepijn gedurende de gehele dag was. Pepijn heeft een combinatie van de theorie en de praktijk, in samenwerking met Live PT Scheveningen, tijdens deze masterclass goed neergezet.

Went to the masterclass in Scheveningen with Pepijn and also Martijn van Delft in LivePT Scheveningen and was excited to get so much tips and advice in one day. I do a lot of praktice at home now (like minimum of 10 degrees seawater) and will go on surftrip to UK end of April. Pepijn thanks for all your positive energy !!!
