Howdens - Porth Arvostelua

At the start of our renovation Jack came out and completed measurements for our new kitchen. We went over to Howdens porth and they picked what we wanted based on the measurements Jack had done.

Upon delivery, there were parts of our kitchen missing that we had paid for- resulting in a delay in our kitchen being fitted, with us still having to pay the builder. The builder we had spent half of his time paid by us running back and forth to Howdens Porth to rectify the mistakes with multiple trips to collect the missing items, this is unacceptable.

In addition to this, an added expense of a plumber moving the gas meter was added to our long and never ending bill caused by his mistakes. When completing measurements, he was made aware of where the gas metre was, yet still planned the kitchen without the gas metre in mind, resulting in the cabinets not fitting- causing ANOTHER delay in the renovation. After a complaining email Howdens agreed to rectify this by paying the plumber bill, however this shouldn’t have even happened in the first place!

After this, we thought nothing else could go wrong, but boy was I wrong it seems that was just the start. Luckily, I was at home and my builder called me in to see the splash backs before he finalised them. I was convinced there was a plastic coating on them, as they weren’t the splash backs I had ordered. My builder is a joker so at first I thought he was pulling my leg, but he certainly wasn’t, they were the completely wrong splash backs. My partner rang the branch where Jack blatantly lied and said we were at fault- completely contradicting himself on our planning photos where the splash backs we had chosen to match the worktops were on there!
This was corrected after yet another complaint, the new splash backs were delivered at 4.30pm on a a Friday, meaning further delay on my kitchen and a waste of an electrician as he couldn’t complete the electrics without the splash back in place, meaning a weekend with no electric thanks to this mistake!

Another mistake made my Jack was the dishwasher, he had planned it all however upon my builder realising, we had paid for a dishwasher that we didn’t have room for! Instead, we had to pay more on top of what we had already paid for a fridge freezer!

Finally, due to all the mistakes they owed us a considerable amount of money. But because of the way they work out their prices- customers only see what they want you to. They emphasise on the fact you have x amount of discount, rather than the actual prices of items because they never show you, even on the monitor in the store. Therefore I believe they owe me a lot more money than I’ve actually had back- but if I’m honest I cannot be bothered and I am glad to be rid.

On a positive, I do love my kitchen that it’s finally completed after all the mistakes and unprofessional finger pointing. I have used Howdens previously - another branch and had no problems.

Apologies that this review is very lengthy to whoever is reading, however after spending a CONSIDERABLE amount of money (I’m talking thousands) for a new kitchen, I am very disappointed in the Porth branch

The quality of the products was not a problem but we had to go back to the store on more than 1 occasion as not all the ordered items were delivered. There were also incorrect items sent which were not ordered and this needed rectifying.

Excellent service as usual from the Excellent staff

The manager in the the porth branch was really rude, to me and my customer, if I could give a minus I would.

It was only a small kitchen and the designer created 2 voids, so I completed a survey and suggested some alterations, only to have the manger tell my customer that I didn’t have a clue what I was on about and it didn’t fit.

After 2 phone calls where he was abusive on the phone, i gave him the measurements of my suggested alterations and it fitted.

I have 35years in carpentry and kitchen fitting and I will never use porth branch in the Rhondda again.

Bought 7 oak veneered doors two with glass five shaker style on unwrapping the doors one of the glass panel doors was dented and scratched contacted Porth branch for a replacement got it back home unwrapped it damaged again. Unwrapped other five doors another two dented and scratched. Returned them to store didn't have any replacements in stock. I've had a carpenter twice to the house to fit them and had to send him home. Very disappointed again think something needs to be done with either the transportation or storage of these products

I used Howdens many years ago and was pleased. My recent visit to Howdens Porth was very good as well. Good personal service by Ally on the desk, from taking the order, adding items later and finally delivery. Good communication and knowledge. The products are good, as a bonus.

Excellent service + great customer service. Any problems quickly resolved

one word Brilliant the staff at Porth depot has been very helpful we revamped our kitchen new doors and side panels and drawers what a transformation then we replaced our bedroom carpets with engineered real wood flooring all from Howdens were very Happy and not a builder was used best part.

Supposed to be “trade” price when their more expensive than full blown retail, stair parts are cheaper literally anywhere you look even Travis Perkins are cheaper, and couldn’t even produce zip bolts!!!
Kitchens are cheaper or the same elsewhere in retail shops only bought kitchen from here as the units are pre built and do last from experience and was sort of an impulse buy living close to a branch.
Howdens need to just open up to public as retail because this so called “trade” only pricing is a gimmick.
Also Howdens are notorious for getting orders and deliveries wrong, my father a chippy of 50yrs used them only when he really had to because of this, plenty of cheaper competition for joinery and stair parts
Look online.
