Hertz - New York - Lafayette Street Arvostelua 

My rental was at 9am, and the car was not available until 11:50am. The long delay significantly compromised my plans for the day. I will not be using this location in the future.

No car was available at scheduled time.

I had to wait for 3 hours.

It was NOT the fault of the people at the location. They were friendly. Hertz finally delivered some cars from its "distribution center."

I've filled out 2 Hertz satisfaction surveys (or lack of satisfaction); no response.

The employees were courteous and friendly on pickup and return. I didn't have to wait long to get my car. It was the type that I wanted and it worked very well.

Very disappointing experience, especially as a long-time Hertz President’s Circle customer. At pickup, I received a notification saying my car was ready, but I then had to wait around 40 minutes because the vehicle had not actually been cleaned or fueled. I ultimately left without a full tank. To be fair, the staff at the Lafayette Street location were professional, kind and apologetic — they themselves seemed unaware that customers were being notified before vehicles were actually ready.

The experience got worse after the rental. I had explicitly declined the PlatePass All-Inclusive toll option, yet I was later charged $101.97 on the basis that I had supposedly activated the transponder. I did not activate, open or touch it at any point. Hertz Customer Service acknowledged my dispute but refused to resolve it and directed me to PlatePass instead, leaving me to spend additional time disputing a charge tied directly to a Hertz rental.

Between the 40-minute pickup delay, receiving a car without a full tank, the erroneous toll charge, and the time required to chase multiple parties afterward, this was far below the level of service I expect from Hertz. I have been a loyal customer, but this experience has seriously made me reconsider renting with Hertz going forward.

The vehicle was not ready when promised, nearly a two hour delay. The pick up process was very clumsy and not handled very professionally. The additional services I had requested we’re never applied specifically the prepaid tolls.

The staff was friendly polite and efficient the car was terrific drop off and pick up was seamless and quick I definitely use it again

Car was reserved but I waited 1 hour to get a car because they said that there was no car available that was fueled. Someone went to get fuel to bring back to re-fuel the car. 7am on Sat with early morning plans but we had to just sit there for 1 hour to get a car.

There were no cars at the location when I arrived for my reservation. Several people ahead of me (who also had reservations) could not get a car for 2.5 hours. I was fortunate to have waited only about 30 minutes, but the car I was given was not cleaned nor filled with gas -- it smelled heavily of smoke. I wanted another car that was smoke-free, but none were available and I was told if I wanted to wait for one, I'd need to go to the back of what became a very very very long line of frustrated customers. So I took the car.

Please note: The staff were very kind and trying to be helpful. They explained that this happened EVERY FRIDAY at this location -- that there were never enough cars on the lot for all the Hertz customers with reservations (including Gold members like myself). This is a systemic problem with Hertz's reservation and distribution; not a problem with Lafayette Street in particular. If the agent knew that this shortage of cars occurred every weekend, then this is a predictable problem that could be solved with better planning and redundancies on the part of Hertz at a corporate level. Do better.

System was down. Pickup took over an hour. Bad experience

I wasn't happy with the car.

I had to wait to two hours to get my car. It reeked of cigarette smoke. No one who worked at the office was friendly or helpful. They all seemed exhausted, resentful, and disinterested.

Hertz is my go to car rental company. They have been consistently reliable in both customer service and the quality of their vehicles. I use Hertz for both my personal and business transportation needs. Definitely 5*!

Car was not available until 2 hours after reserved time, and then only car available was a large SUV, so we had difficulty getting senior in and out all week. Needed step stool.

Very bad customer service booked my car to a location which was closed on the day of the pick up then customer service arranged a new car for me and they said they were on the same rate, but that declined to give me a refund once I return my car and I had to pay a much higher rate when I already reserve my car on months in advance for a cheaper rate

The staff at the Lafayette Street location are always helpful, and it's quick to pick up and to return. If you're looking for a big selection of vehicles or other bells and whistles, maybe not the right fit for you, but if you're looking for a dependable Hertz location that provides good service, a great option.

Vehicle wasn't the size I requested/reserved. The vehicle I received was very small and very filthy. Staff was great, Hertz Customer Service not so much.

Hertz is a scam and the worst business I have ever used

Vona @HERTZ Great Neck NY.....had our car ready when we arrived & helped us connect our playlist since we were having difficulty......she could not have been more helpful

Given a car almost on empty, overcharged for gas, no lenience with 4 year president circle member using points, charged $350 for one day rental
