Hertz - Houston - South Main Street Arvostelua 

Awful. False claim by employee on return that there was excessive dog hair. Insisted on charging $75 unless either (a) I vacuumed it out myself -- but he refused to let me use the vacuum that sat literally one foot from my car; (b) or his supervisor overruled him -- except that his supervisor wasn't there and the employee did not know when he would return. Took photos and provided evidence in to Hertz Central and they agreed to address employee and issued small refund.

Booked, confirmed & checked in at Houston Medical Center location for Saturday June 13th. Arrived at date/time to find the office closed (despite signage on the door of the office saying open 9-12.
Customer services agent then confirmed that they'd moved the booking to Houston Hobby, and that an email would be received in 10-15 minutes. Upon arriving at alt. location, the staff confirmed that the agent had lied - no car available, and booking not amended.
Returned to original location (Med. Ctr.) first thing Monday a.m. where the staff confirmed that my booking had simply not been provisioned - as they had not checked for Sat. bookings, since they were closed... despite Hertz confirming 2 weeks previously. Would not honour my booking and we were left without a vehicle.
We subsequently made an alternative booking with Alamo - who were excellent throughout.
I continue to wait for a refund, with Hertz unwilling to provide details of how to escalate my case or provide details for their complaints process. (Even the start chat button on their website does not function) I have been left with no option but to reclaim via credit card.

Extremely disappointed with my experience at Hertz. I arrived around 4:30 PM to pick up the vehicle I had reserved, only to be told that my reserved car was not available. The lead associate said my only options were to pay an additional $20 per day for an SUV or take an electric vehicle at the same rate. This was frustrating because I had already accepted an upgrade through text beforehand and should not have been pressured into paying even more.

Since I could not justify the additional charge, I sat in the lobby trying to find another Hertz location or rental company with availability as it approached 5:00 PM. Right then, a woman returned a vehicle, and I overheard the associate tell a newer employee to quickly vacuum it. The newer employee hesitated because it was nearly closing time and suggested giving me another Jeep Compass that had already been cleaned earlier. At that point, it became obvious that I had not been told the truth about vehicle availability.

The situation became even more unprofessional from there. The newer associate mentioned that the returned vehicle smelled like smoke. Instead of giving me the freshly returned vehicle, I was given the Jeep Compass that smelled strongly of marijuana. When I brought up the odor, I was told it was “just the cleaner,” which was clearly not true.

To make matters worse, the employees openly argued and complained about each other in front of me. The lead associate also went into the back to discuss me with the other employee, which felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable as a customer.

Overall, the experience was dishonest, disorganized, and lacked professionalism. I expect much better customer service and transparency from Hertz.
