No longer provides quality and timely service by an Audiologist
I would have given this provider 5 stars until a month ago. My current rating (3 stars) is an average of then and now (1 star).
I have been a client at HearUSA in Glastonbury, CT (which is owned by Signia) since 2022. At that time, they were in my insurance company's network, and they had an Audiologist (Doctor of Audiology) on staff. He left after a few years (without notification to his patients), and was replaced with a "Specialist" (not an Audiologist). The replacement, however, was highly experienced, and I received quality care for about a year. Because of changes in my hearing, after a trial, I purchased the highest technology prescription hearing aids available. The price--$9,000-- was more than double the cost charged by other providers, but it should have been covered by my insurance, and included unlimited service appointments and parts for 3 years; hence, the higher price. (Medical practices charge less for the HAs, but visits for programming adjustments are not covered by insurance and patients must pay $65 or more per visit.)
I learned the following week that 2 days after selling me the HAs, the Specialist left HearUSA for another position (in sales with a manufacturer). He did not tell me, at the time I bought the HAs that he was leaving in 2 days; otherwise I would not have bought them.
The HearUSA office in Glastonbury, CT, does not intend to replace the Specialist who left--with another technical staff member with any credentials. So now, the only professional staff member is a technician, who thus far has not been able to adjust my new HAs properly. Because he has double the client load as previously, having assumed the full load of the one who left, it is impossible to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time. Previously, I could see someone within a week or less.
Moreover, HearUSA is no longer in my insurance company's network, so I will not be reimbursed the $9,000 that I paid.
The quality of the company has gone downhill since 2022, first by no longer having an Audiologist on staff, but also by decreasing its remaining technical staff by 50%.
I had recommended this company and office wholeheartedly initially, but now I would say: Avoid it at all costs.
