I will never return to HCA Florida…
I will never return to HCA Florida Jacksonville Neurosurgery and Spine for treatment. I gave them 2 stars because their medical treatment was very good. However, the billing processes are broken. They were intolerant of my good faith payment efforts. I always pay my bills which is reflected on my credit report. I have no late payments. I received an invoice but had questions which took time to answer. I mailed a 50% payment for my bill. I am on disability and could not afford to pay it all in one payment. I know they received and processed my payment because my bank requested my approval which I gave. For some reason the payment was not completed but my card was nowhere near its limit. They did not contact me to resolve the problem. They just immediately sent it to collections after only one attempt. That's not a good consumer finance practice. As a former business owner I know the best practice is to wait and run the card again. The collections agency called and said I had not paid. They made me feel like a deadbeat even though I had done everything right. I paid the second 50% leaving my balance at $0. Then the collections agency charged me for the original full amount without my authorization. Now I had been charged double! I called the practice, HCA Billing and the collections agency but just got the runaround and outright misinformation. One HCA billing person listened to my frustration but it was too late. The damage had been done. I had to spend weeks resolving their mistakes. One quick call could have avoided hour, days and weeks of work, collections agency charges and emotional stress.
