Halfords should be ashamed
Halfords should be ashamed. On 20/07/2026, I told customer services that an autocentre had misdiagnosed my car, costing me £269.99 unnecessarily, and that the manager Ian had verbally abused me. Customer services dismissed the misdiagnosis and failed to address the manager’s conduct.
After customer services failed to respond satisfactorily, I wrote to Halfords’ head office on 09/08/2026 about the autocentre’s misdiagnosis, the manager’s verbal abuse, and my other concerns. Once again, my report of the abuse was ignored.
On 28 September 2026, I emailed Halfords CEO Mr Birch about how customer services and head office had handled my concerns regarding my car’s misdiagnosis and the verbal abuse I experienced from autocentre manager Ian. I explained that, as I approach my 80th birthday, I should not have been treated this way. Six days later, Mr Birch has not replied. In my view, this suggests that Halfords’ customer services, head office, and CEO protect one another, rendering the complaints process futile.

⭐ Five-Star Service That Restored My Trust
Fantastic service from Lee and Neil at Halfords Llandudno
I honestly couldn’t recommend Lee and Neil at Halfords Llandudno highly enough.
I’d visited two other garages before going to Halfords and walked away from both feeling disappointed and lacking confidence. As a woman, I feel at car garages that I’m not taken seriously when it comes to cars, and unfortunately that was how I felt on these occasions. One garage couldn’t even guarantee which tyres they would fit because they were changing suppliers, which immediately lost my trust. At another, I was left waiting for around 25 minutes, so I simply drove away.
Then I pulled into Halfords Llandudno and met Lee. From the moment he greeted me with a warm smile and genuinely friendly manner, I felt completely different. He took the time to listen, explain which tyres needed replacing and answer all my questions without ever making me feel silly or talked down to.
When I returned for the tyre change, Lee and Neil were both absolutely fantastic. They were friendly, chatty, professional and had me laughing, they actually made getting my tyres changed fun! 😂
By the time I left, I honestly felt like I had known them both forever. That’s how comfortable and welcome they made me feel.
Most importantly, they restored my trust. I now class Halfords Llandudno as my local garage, because I know I’ll be looked after, listened to and given honest advice.
Lee and Neil are an absolute credit to Halfords. Customer service like this makes such a difference, and I really hope they get the recognition they deserve. 👏

Work done poorly if at all
Booked in for a tyres and a brake fluid change, could have done the fluid change myself but one of those jobs that is much easier with the car on a ramp and the price was reasonable. When got the car back they had not reset the service indicator and it was obvious that none of the caliper bleed valves had been touched. When I questioned reception about if they had really changed the fluid and could they check with the technician that had done the work they came back after a while to say the technician was concerned about breaking off the bleed valves so just sucked out the fluid from the top. I said what about the fluid in the lines and he admitted that would be old. Halfords this is not a fluid change and what sort of mechanic would consider this ok. I am even concerned that they really did as much as change the reservoir fluid. Will test and verify but will be seeking a refund either way as they have not done what they were paid to do.

Got a free mot with the motoring club…
Got a free mot with the motoring club which I got when buying a battery as it saved money. Had it done and failed even though there was no mention of the ‘problems’ when I had a service the previous day at a different garage. Got a quote of over £700. Obviously I declined the work. Had a quote of less than a quarter of the price to do the work. Will not be going back to Halfords for any work on my car

Excellent and helpful staff
Excellent and helpful staff. They were hard working, knowledgeable and helpful.
Halfords Finchley however was let down by it's very cramped premises - so that parking was difficult. Parking was also hazardous given the need potentially to reverse onto the busy road that runs past the premises. Halfords senior management need to urgently review the location of this facility and provide premises that match the excellence of its staff.

Friendly and professional service
I used Southampton Millbrook Autocentre for an MoT test.
The staff were ready for my car at the time booked and took it straight to a bay. They told me how long it was likely to take and I received a phone call to tell me when my car was ready to collect.
On collection, there was no pressure to upsell or talk me into booking any 'advisories' work, which was refreshing as many garages will try this.
