Shockingly dismissive of Coeliac disease
I used to be a loyal repeat customer, especially in the run up to Christmas. Grapetree stocks a great range of well-priced nuts, dried fruits, herbs, spices etc. I would usually make multiple large orders in Sept/Oct, as well as visiting my local shop. I never expected to leave a negative review.
BUT. A relative has tested positive for coeliac disease, and apparently, Grapetree views this as an unimportant factor, to be dismissed by simply putting a disclaimer on EVERYTHING. (Except a few specialist gluten-free products, such as psyllium husk powder.)
Oats? Packed in the same facility as cereals containing gluten. OK, that's frustrating, but common from a lot of suppliers.
Raisins? Packed in the same facility as cereals containing gluten. REALLY? Smoked paprika? Same. Mixed herbs? Of course.
It seems odd, that such a wide range of products are ALL produced on the same line as wheat, barley or rye. Would it really be so expensive to actually check? Why does Grapetree's rice carry a gluten warning, when every packet of rice already in my kitchen (from several different suppliers) is fine? If Aldi can sell so many standard products with official Coeliac UK approval, let alone 'gluten free' on the label, then why is Grapetree so dismissive?
Coeliac disease affects about 1% of the population (estimated about 3/4 undiagnosed though I think), but the impact on sales will be more than 1-4%, because who's going to bake a Christmas cake, and make homemade mincemeat, that not all the family can eat? Is, say, 10% of the market really negligible? Apparently it is, to Grapetree. Which actually makes me quite sad, as well as frustrated. 😞

Grape Tree has a great choice of nuts and seeds at a good price. I like to buy in bulk and I am able to do this at Grape Tree. They have good deals on as well which is always a bonus. The ordering is easy and the delivery is good too.

Great prices and quick delivery.

Best before dates
Normally very pleased with the nuts supplied by Grape Tree. However, I ordered 5 x 1kg bags of mixed nuts and was disappointed to see that they all had a best before date of the end December 2026. That's a lot of nuts to eat in 2 months!

Ordered for next day delivery. Didn't arrive for three days. Had to go to shop to buy the necessary ingredients for our bakery. Delivery company useless.
