Serious safety issues at Broxbourne Nursing Home
I have a close relative in one of their care homes- the Broxbourne Nursing Home- and recently witnessed a carer there physically assault a vulnerable elderly a resident. I was the only witness with mental capacity. The police were asked to investigate and completely failed to do so- they didn’t even take a statement from me as the only witness and somehow concluded that the carer doesn’t pose a risk to others. Their conduct will be subject to review. But meanwhile in reliance on the police findings, Gold Care Homes has concluded the carer didn’t deliberately harm the victim and they continue to employ this carer. They believe he just needs a bit more training. I cannot emphasise enough how strongly I disagree with the finding that his actions weren’t deliberate. What I witnessed was plainly a deliberate act and Gold Care Homes has without any other witnesses concluded the opposite. Their behaviour is utterly irresponsible and creates an obvious risk to the residents that are being cared for by this carer. They claim he is only working under supervision but they obviously cannot guarantee that he will be accompanied in every single thing he does, that is unfeasible. The reality is that despite how much they insist that they take safety very seriously and that they have investigated, they are employing as a carer someone who has deliberately assaulted a vulnerable resident. That is absolutely inexcusable.
