Really nice people to deal with although there were some minor solar panel connection problems which could have been dealt with more quickly. Fraser and his fellow electricians did a really neat installation of the solar battery and all the control panels and even cleaned out our gutters as the scaffolding was still up!

I would strongly advise anyone considering GESS Limited, trading as Green Eco Solar Solutions, to think very carefully before going ahead.

I used GESS after Octopus Energy directed me to them for a solar and battery installation. What was quoted as a two day job took around three weeks.

My property is Grade II listed, so planning was critical. GESS produced inaccurate drawings, then mismeasured the roof by around 500mm. Their planned 28 panel system would not fit and had to be reduced to 26 panels.

The panels were then installed hard against the roof ridge, despite concerns raised by the council's heritage officer. GESS later told the council the panels were not against the ridge. They are.

I was then left with a smaller system than contracted for and without confirmed planning approval for what had actually been installed.

During the work, GESS also drilled through my mains water pipe.

On another occasion, I was told the solar system was live and working when it was not generating at all.

Even at final handover, two of the three solar strings were not working. GESS did not discover this. I did. An engineer had to return and rewire the system.

So my experience included:

Inaccurate planning drawings.

A major survey measurement error.

A reduced solar system.

Ongoing planning issues.

A damaged mains water pipe.

Being told the system was working when it was not.

Two out of three solar strings not working at handover.

A two day installation taking around three weeks.

Poor behaviour from members of the team on site.

For a system costing around £18,000, this was nowhere near the standard I expected from an MCS certified and RECC registered installer.

I have retained the planning documents, measurements, photographs, council correspondence and installation records.

Based on my experience, I could not recommend GESS Limited.

Absolutely totally recommend this company - they installed Solar Panels for me in 2015, and then a Tesla Battery in 2016, and then a second Tesla Battery, (because the first was so GREAT!), in 2025. The renewables area is not without its share of corner-cutters, but these guys at GESS do a first-rate job, and cut zero corners. They come when they say, super efficient, super flexible, and super nice.

I am writing today, because I had a problem with one of the Tesla batteries; these things happen. These guys at GESS just help you out so nicely - and they are super efficient about it.

If you are even considering Solar or Batteries, honestly look no further than this company. I have been so happy I chose them. Yes, there were some cheaper alternatives, but these guys were right on the money on price, but where they have excelled is on going above and beyond. Such great people, as well. Absolutely totally recommend this company. Thank you!

We had an excellent experience with GESS — the whole process was incredibly quick and efficient. RICHARD came out to give us a quote (with couple surveys), and GESS came out interesting and cheapest with the most panels. Best of all, they were able to install the following week after the signed documents (in the coldest day of November).
They handled everything: application was sorted quickly, scaffolding went up without a hitch. The team came over to do the survey and took the time to walk us through exactly how the system would work, which really helped build our confidence in the setup.

After 4 Quotes for solar and battery Gess were by far the cheapest so initially it did raise a red flag, I need not have worried the service I received for this company was exceptional from the initial consultation with Harrison then right the way through the insulation process.
Communication was great I was kept informed of the process throughout, scaffolding, certification and installation.
On the day of installation the fitters arrived on time and went through the fitting of the system all the time making sure I was happy with the location of the equipment and the cable runs and finally spending time running me through both the App on my phone and the battery system.
Finally I would just like to say a massive thank you to Gess for making my solar experience a seamless and enjoyable one, all your staff have been so helpful and are a credit to your company.

Despite the installation going more or less to plan, since then their service has dropped off a cliff. It took over a month for snagging to be completed and two months later there has been no handover. Despite assurances of an annual service, and repeated emails on that subject none is forthcoming. I would think very hard before committing to them for works.

First class service from the GESS team from start to finish ! Panels and Tesla Powerwall linked to Octopus is a perfect combination! Thoroughly recommended. Call them now !

The communication from Gess was easy and efficient, and the arrangements were clear. The installation was quick, and the installers were friendly, knowledgeable and informative. I was really pleased with the whole experience, and the system appears to be delivering the results I wanted. Early indication is that I will get payback for my investment within 8 years

I had both Solar Panels and ASHP installed. First the solar panels inverter and battery were fitted followed by the ASHP which required a replacement of some radiators and some new ones to meet the heat survey. All trades worked well together and as promised we were only with hot water and heating for half a day. I would highly recommend this Company as the sales and office support was as good as the technical phase

I had a terrible experience with Green Eco Solar Solution (GESS) regarding my solar panel and Tesla Powerwall 3 installation. GESS provided a quote, which I accepted, and I paid a £500 deposit. I made it very clear that the council had revoked permitted development rights for new developments, meaning I needed to obtain planning permission. GESS agreed to wait for this. The contract was signed, and I was assured it was legally binding. A technical survey was conducted twice, and I was informed that everything was in order. Once I secured planning permission, GESS was unable to schedule the installation until February 2025.

Then, in January 2025, they claimed that the quoted price was subject to change at any time and that they could no longer proceed at the originally agreed price.

Despite the agreed quote, completed site surveys, signed contract, and deposit payment, GESS attempted to impose additional charges outside the contract. When I refused, they unilaterally cancelled my installation and refunded my deposit without my consent—an outright breach of contract. Communication was poor, with long delays and ignored emails. My Tesla account now shows two Powerwall 3 units registered under my name, adding further complications. This is completely unacceptable, and after escalating the matter, I received the following response from GESS:

"Site surveys had identified increases in works required for your system, including ridge work, panel orientation and design, along with scaffolding requirements."

I would not recommend this company due to their lack of professionalism and integrity.

I've been looking for solar for almost two years and in that time I have seen the price go up and creep down. I never pulled the trigger as every single supplier never made the effort to come and visit us. Getting fed up with map surveys and online quotes on portals that don't load. I contacted Tesla directly for a Powerwall and solar, they put me in touch with Gess. Gess were different. Harrison, called me instantly and arranged a visit. We spoke about our unique requirements. As we install Building Automation systems (Loxone) we had a Loxone system in our property we wanted to integrate with our solar and had very specific requirements on the equipment we wanted to use, the location of the installed equipment and connectivity. Marlin (Gess' expert electrician) came and visited our site and made a brilliant unique plan to meet all our requirements, the whole team from Gess really went out of their way to accommodate us. The install happened over a couple of days, the lads were neat, tidy and very courteous. we've had our solar now for approximately 5 months (it's already saving us money on the utility bills) they still check in on us to ensure things are ok. I would happily recommend them over anyone else. I 'Gess' it speaks for itself if Tesla recommends them too.

on the whole domestic energy system (ASHPs, EVs, solar panels and tariffs). This has helped significantly reduce my energy bills & carbon footprint, using a staged-approach to ensure cost effectiveness.

After purchasing out electric car we needed a suitable home charger. We had used GESS a few years earlier to carry out a solar installation and service was excellent. As they already knew the system, they discussed how they could integrate the charger in with the solar. Price was competitive and service very professional. Installation was again prompt, clean and all cables tidy. Integration with the solar was seamless and we have been enjoying the benefits over the summer.

I have used GESS on 2 occasions now. Initially in 2017 to install solar panels and a powerwall 2, and most recently another powerwall 2 and a new gateway system that now allows me to charge the powerwalls overnight on cheap rate when needed.
I found the whole experience really pleasant. The workmen were prompt, approachable and their work was clean and tidy.
