100% Do NOT Rent/Reserve a Car Here. Dealing with this company was the worst experience I have had in over 30 years of traveling. That was before I even got into a vehicle. They charge FULL price if you have to cancel due to an emergency (in my case medical). Requested a letter from a doctor confirming the date and details of the emergency. I provided a letter confirming the date, details not included (HIPPA violation) 3 times, explained the refund was needed to cover medication and they refused to give even a partial refund. Profit ABOVE People!

Dont deal with Fox Car Rentals SCAM

They charged me $277 just for a reservation not to rent a car , they don’t own any cars they just charge you to get a reservation when I got to the airport to pick up the car it turns out that it is actually Driving Force who is renting me the car and Fox just charged me to go and pay for a rental car from Driving Force ended up paying double what I Driving Force would have charged so Fox Car Rental just charged me $277 for nothing what a scam.

I made the worst mistake of my life renting a car from this company. If I could give it 0 stars I would. My wife, myself and my 11 year old daughter flew from New York to San Diego, California for an important family gathering. Family and friends flew to California to be part of what was supposed to be a special ceremony celebration for my nephew who was retiring after 20 years in the military (Marines). I booked 3 flights, Hotel and I rented a Toyota Camry (full size) from 4/09/26 - 4/12/26. It came out to about $2,500 total. When we arrived at San Diego, we had a little bit of a tough time trying to figure out how to get to the shuttle bus that was supposed to take us to the car rental facility. Directions were not very clean cut. Then when we get there, we couldn't find the car rental company name I was searching for. The name they emailed me was "Europcarrental"! After asking around, someone who works there told us that Fox Rent A Car is also Europ Car Rental! 🤔🙄OK? I check in to get my car and they don't have the car I rented (Full Size Toyota Camry). They only had a VW Jetta (Midsize). I took it obviously. What choice do I have? They did give me a discount (which I appreciated). After about a 6 hour flight and getting to San Diego late at night, we were exhausted and had to be up early in the morning. The next day we drove to the Camp Pendleton Military Base for the ceremony. This is where everything takes a turn for the worse and I mean the worse! We reach Camp Pendleton and the military personnel direct us through the route we're suppose to take. Next thing I realize is I have a flat tire. I pull over and notice my front passenger side tire is flat. I look for a spare in the back but all I found was a fix a flat kit. No spare tire, no jack, no air pump. Basically nothing! I tried calling Fox Car Rental's roadside assistance but nobody was picking up. So I called the desk customer service and all they did was redirect me to roadside assistance. Was on the phone for over 2 hours with no luck. My wife at this point also was trying to call roadside assistance but no luck. We even left our cellphone numbers for call back but no luck. After about 4 hours trying to reach roadside assistance, we finally called their desk customer service and argued that they have no roadside assistance and we were hungry, thirsty, in need of a restroom, our 11 year old didn't feel well, and most of all, we were very, very angry because our trip was totally ruined due to the fact that we missed on what we flew all the way from New York to do. Which was attend my nephew's ceremony! We missed it!!!! Thanks to Europ Car / Fox Rent A Car! The representative finally came up with an idea and "EMAILED" roadside assistance. Finally after 5 and a half hours stranded, we received a call from roadside assistance. They then picked us up and took us to the nearest tire shop. In all, from the time the flat tire occurred to the time it got fixed, took roughly 8 hours! A total waste of our money, time and stress. Could of just saved all that money and aggrevation. Could of stood in New York and watched the ceremony through FaceTime! Point here is, do not rent any vehicles from them because if you end up with a flat, good luck getting roadside assistance!

Be aware of changes to your contract without knowledge

I booked and paid for flight and rental thru Expedia. When we got to Denver, CO the Fox clerk told us he has to place the deposit of $150 on our credit card which we were aware of. He then said the insurance we purchased does not cover Roadside Assistance (which later we found out it did) and he could offer that service for $7 a day with military discount. We provided our credit card and he printed a receipt. On the receipt we noticed we were charged an additional $354. He said Expedia has not paid them for the rental as of yet and that was a hold until payment. Once they are paid the hold would fall off. Unfortunately we did not verify that information with Expedia we just accepted his word and left. After our trip the hold did not fall off we were actually charged by Fox and Expedia. We filed a dispute with Expedia since that's who we booked our trip thru. Expedia informed us the clerk said we requested an upgraded vehicle which we did not. We booked a Jeep Wrangler thru Expedia but Fox gave us a Jeep Cherokee. Because they were both Jeeps we thought nothing of it. However, at no point did we request a change or was that discussed with us. Due to his deceitfulness we are now out of $354 because we signed the paperwork under false guidance from the clerk at Fox. I am filing a complaint with BBB and with my state's Attorney General against Fox and Expedia.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

I would strongly advise caution when dealing with Fox Rent A Car (Denver branch).

We made a booking for $535 (£398), however a total of $1,920.09 was taken from our business account across multiple transactions. Despite one small refund, there is still over $1,300 outstanding that has not been returned.

We were told at the time of collection that there was a system error and that duplicate payments would not be taken. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Multiple charges were processed, and we have since been left trying to recover a significant amount of money.

Communication initially started but quickly stopped once we questioned the additional charges. We have sent multiple emails and attempted to resolve the matter directly, but responses have now ceased entirely.

We have since had to report the majority of these transactions as fraudulent through our bank due to the lack of resolution.

We are more than willing to pay the agreed rental amount, but the handling of this situation, the overcharging, and the lack of communication has been extremely concerning.

I would expect a company of this size to handle payment issues and customer communication far more professionally.

WATCH OUT! Pricing scam!

We arrived in Denver and it had recently snowed. The person behind the desk recommended we upgrade to an AWD vehicle. Well initially he quoted us $450 EXTRA on the original $350 rental fee for the upgrade. When we said there's no way we're paying more than double for an AWD, he started asked if we were Costco members, and that he could do a small discount - he didn't even ask to see the Costco card, so this basically tells me that he's just making up prices as he goes.
Anyway, the rental was fine, the car was pretty good, but then we received a toll bill in the mail. Now, he did not mention anything about charges for tolls. There were $23.30 in toll charges; no big deal, but here's the kicker - $120 in admin fees. So now basically we've ended up paying ~$800 for what started as a $350 rental. My recommendation: just use a reputable rental agency - you'll end up paying the same or less for a much better experience. We will never use Fox again, and neither should you!

Lots of charges!

Lots of charges!! firstly they would not waive the under 25 fee even though I turn 25 in a month, it just comes up "in the system". second, they basically force you to pay for the sun pass every day. In FL if you don't have one and you go through the toll it's about $5-8, but fox will charge u $90 plus $15 each additional time you go through a toll unless you buy the pass for each day, ridiculous. Then, they add all these tiny little fees for random things, the worker didn't even know what they were for and couldn't explain them to me. I asked what is this and he said I don't know it's in the system I don't add that. HUH? the car itself was also kind of dirty, not bad but found old food in between seats. Car drove well. Overall, not good customer service and horrible extra fees. I also got a manager special, and he only gave me the small car, I asked if since it was just a mystery car if I could get a bigger car (which I saw a bunch just sitting in the lot) and he said that would be an upcharge, even for the newer model of the car he gave me was going to be an upcharge.

Car type I rented wasn't available. They tried to bait and switch, again, and got my rental from $334 to literally $1290. I refused, held out, got a sub par vehicle that was not suitable for my needs at the rate they promised for a vehicle they could not provide. Car was filthy, could barely see out of the windshield, several things did not work, the passenger window got stuck diwn until I hit a bump, so faulty wiring. Sounded like the bumper was going to fall off. Ok. Bad rental. I got a bill for a transponder/toll road. $19.60. A $15 per trip 'administrative fee'. I went to pay it today and that fee was 'late' and doubled. I could not contact them via phone, website or email. STAY AWAY. Terrible company.

Caution non remboursée depuis plus de 3 mois – inacceptable
Je déconseille fortement CarJet et Fox Rent A Car.
J’ai loué un véhicule via CarJet pour Miami. Sur place, Fox Rent A Car m’a prélevé une caution de 150 USD le 06/01/2026.
Le véhicule a été restitué sans aucun dommage (preuve écrite fournie).
Depuis plus de 3 mois, cette caution ne m’a toujours pas été remboursée.
Malgré de nombreuses relances :
Fox Rent A Car refuse de rembourser et me renvoie vers CarJet
CarJet refuse de prendre ses responsabilités et me renvoie vers le loueur
Ce renvoi de responsabilité est totalement inacceptable et constitue un manquement évident aux obligations commerciales.
À ce jour, il s’agit clairement d’une somme indûment conservée.
Sans régularisation immédiate :
un litige bancaire est en cours via American Express
un dossier est transmis au Centre Européen des Consommateurs
d’autres démarches suivront
Je publierai également cet avis sur plusieurs plateformes afin d’informer les futurs clients.

Upon returning the car

Upon returning the car, the person looking at it noticed a couple of pet hairs on the seat. There were no animals in the car, however, I did cross paths with a few animals in my travels, and apparently, there transfer may have been transfer from my clothing to the seat. I was told that if I didn’t take it off the lot and vacuum it I would be charged $400 for a cleaning fee for three pet hairs. That’s all I could see. I took pictures of the seats before I vacuumed and after. You would be hard pressed to find all three of those pet hairs. It’s interesting to note, that I was not the only one sent off site to vacuum or clean their car, and we were all sent to the same business. I was not told prior to this that if I stayed with or came in contact with animals, and there was pet hair transfer, I needed to vacuum and clean the car out or face a $400 cleaning fee. I wasn’t even told pets weren’t allowed in the car even though I chose not to have pets in the car, as it was not my car. I also did not notice three random pet hairs. $400 for three pet hairs I was repeatedly threatened with. I don’t blame the person checking me in, it’s clearly the rental car company’s training of their people to get money. Because of this, I almost missed my flight because it took 45 minutes to take the car offsite, vacuum it, bring it back, and then wait 23 minutes for a shuttle to the airport. That was the wait time for the shuttle, not including the drive there, the first stop made for others on the shuttle, and the walk to try to get from the shuttle stop to TSA and then to the gate. That was another 20+ minutes. By the time I got to my gate, it was 10 minutes before they started boarding. I built in two hours to get from this car rental site, where you can see the airport from, to get to my gate. Had I not needed an extra 45 minutes just to get from the lot to the airport, I would’ve comfortably made it with more than an hour before the flight even boarded.This is the second time I have rented from this company in Denver. The first time I had a horrible experience with the human that I picked my car up from pushing and threatening about tolls where if I did not get your $13.99 a day toll pass, and I passed through any tolls, I would be charged $15 per tollbooth plus the toll fee. And the person was rude and aggressive about it and then said something derogatory about me to another person in another language, which, I understood. I chose to give this company another chance and not base it on one person. My mistake. At first, I’m thinking OK this was a much better experience, until I returned the car where on the drop off this time, I’m being threatened with a $400 charge to clean a car that wasn’t even clean when I picked it up. I took a video and pictures of the car when I picked it up in the dark, and you could see the filth and the dirt on the outside of the car. The inside of the car, while I didn’t take pictures or video, had clearly not even been vacuumed before I got it. So they give me a car that wasn’t fully cleaned which, I didn’t complain about, it was clean enough, and then threaten me with a $400 cleaning fee for three pet hairs? Honestly, if they weren’t really down looking for something like that in order to threaten a $400 charge, they would not have seen them. If you enlarge the pictures that I took, you can find one hair. I can’t even see the other two. I’ve been watching my credit card bill for fraudulent charges from this company. If they do not like the amount of money they get for their cars from websites like Expedia, perhaps they need to renegotiate with them and not threaten and try to bully customers out of more money at pick up and drop off. They could’ve had a very steady customer in me. My daughter and grandson live in Colorado. My plan is to be there a minimum of three times a year for a minimum of a week at a time. Now, I will pay a little bit more to go with a different rental company than Fox/Eurocr. I’m not doing the three strikes and you’re out. I cannot afford to have them attempt to screw me over again on a third chance. It’s a real shame that this corporation puts it’s employees in that position to threaten and bully customers for more money. I can only imagine the number of people that they have financially screwed over with these scams that weren’t able to stand up for themselves or know they were being scammed.

charge twice

I went through book.com to get my car paid for it with the card on 01/09/2026 everything was set. So, on 03/11/2026 when i pick up the car they ask for the card for 150.00 deposit. I thought it was strange that I paid for the car and they said it would refund it to me. So, i said OK come find out they charge my card again for the full price of the rental I have been trying to get refund for one of the charges sounds simple well it's been like hell for something so simple. sent them all the proof booking .com

Fox rental has hidden costs

Fox rental has hidden costs. One that I complained about was "pre-paying" for gas. I thought I was told the cost of a gallon of gas if they had to replace what I used. We discussed the price outside of the airport. I agreed then used 1/4 tank of gas. Instead I was charged for 1/2 tank. I was supposed to know this. It certainly wasn't explained. That is deceptive and unfair

‼️BEWARE…reservation desk clerks at PHX are Trained to SCAM YOU‼️ We were charged $1199 in additional INSURANCE fees we did not want and had declined‼️ They rush you through the signing process, of course there are 6-9 people waiting in line behind you. Once you sign you’re on the hook, it already charged to you card. You can dispute, but Customer Service Rep reminded me that I did sign it. Lesson learned….do not let them Rush you, Read before signing, the cost of the fees was more than Double the cost of the actual car rental‼️ Crappy service, crappy cars, crappy rental company but above all else they’re ‼️BLATANT DISHONEST SCAMMERS ‼️

THEY WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED

If your flight lands late, do not trust this company. Even with a confirmed booking and a 12:15 AM pickup time on my receipt, Fox failed to show. They effectively "timed out" my reservation by closing at 12:30 AM while I was still waiting at the curb. I lost the full cost of the rental and had to scramble to find a different car in the middle of the night. Terrible service and zero accountability.

Better check your contract carefully…

Better check your contract carefully and keep the paper work. They added liability I rejected. And there were many other fees not disclosed when reserving on line. My estimate was $250 the bill was $429.01. Customer service person who listened to my complaints patiently and not to help at all… I suppose she is used to the same complaints. The company is “Sly as a FOX”. Other major rental companies never do this to me.

This is the worst rental car company I have ever dealt with. To date I have received two bills (one month apart) for running through tolls (3 days apart) that totaled $3.40, but they sent them separately and each time charged a $15.00 administrative fee.

Hidden Fees and Incorrect Charges

I was incorrectly charged a late fee despite returning the vehicle 45 minutes early, and trying to get this fee reversed was a sisyphean task, being bounced around between multiple call centers.

Additionally, I had a different problem with my reservation that required me to contact Europcar (their parent company), who asked me to contact Fox, who asked me to contact Europcar. I called customer service and was told there was nothing they could do. The system was obviously designed to be as opaque as possible to deter refunds.
