Have a thought for customers and don't leave them frozen out.Left annoyed and frustrated a severe lack of communication i had a booking at 10am for a MOT not expecting to wait around for nearly 3hrs.Let me be clear i would neither buy a car from them or have any work done to my car I'd asked for a complimentary wash which was done.And to be honest I'd couldn't wait to leave.

They had a Honda CRV, YS17 SMU, which appeared to be a nice looking car. I contacted them and spoke with the used sales dept who assured me the car is in good order. As I live in Hastings, East Sussex, it was quite a journey but I thought that a company like Evans Halshaw could be trusted so I bought a single rail ticket as I was planning to drive the car home once purchased. The salesman, John, collected me from the rail station, only a short run from there to the showrooms. The car looked good, just as in the photographs and video. Unfortunately when I began the test drive a trail of blue smoke came from the exhaust. It continued to emit this blue smoke for some time until the engine began to warm up. This is a typical sign of worn valve stem oil seals. This oil burning will potentially ruin the diesel particulate filter and the exhaust gas regeneration valve as they are not designed to operate under these conditions. As this had not been mentioned before I was extremely disappointed. On return to the showroom it was claimed that this smoke must have been the DPF regen. This is where the exhaust has to be hot enough to burn off soot that builds up in the filter. This could not be the case as the engine and exhaust were cold and the smoke was blue indicating oil burning not soot burning! As I then had to purchase a return train ticket and pointed out that this wasted trip has cost me over £160 the sales Manager, Alex, said, as a sign of good will, that Evans Halshaw would reimburse me for half of the rail fare. I took that as the return fare. I accepted the offer but was very disappointed with the situation. Since then I have had to repeatedly contact them for agreed reimbursement, Alex fails to return my calls and the car was immediately re advertised presumably with the issue not being repaired. I have submitted a formal complaint and guess what? Whilst I received an automated confirmation of the complaint stating I will be contacted within 48 hrs, no response nearly a week later!
Please consider these points before dealing with this company.

Three times I've had to take my car back to get a fault fixed that was caused while it was in for a service. It was driving perfectly straight when I took it in, but ever since has been pulling to the left, I've lost 10mpg and now I have to accelerate down a hill I used to have to brake on. Every time it goes in they tell me they have fixed it. After this last attempt it is now even worse than it was before I took it in

My car was booked in via tusker my car lease provider on 12 November and it clearly stated a MOT and light issue. I went to collect my car and was told all was fine and the paperwork would be sent to tusker. I didn't think anything of it until I was emailed about my MOT being due on 29 December. This gave me 2 days to find a garage to carry out a MOT over the Christmas period.
I find that very poor for a brand as big as them, they don't answer calls unless you constantly ring. I wouldn't recommend using.

Staff very friendly car was done before time said it would be.

We were buying a car for our relative that had some learning difficulties.
They offered a solution to us from the Sunderland branch, despite the fact that we live on the South Coast.
This was unusual in that other dealers were unable to offer this service.

The service from first entering the dealership to handing the car over was fantastic, the help and care we received from Callum Fraser was second to none and nothing was an issue, when buying our son's first car.

From reserving the car, completing the paperwork to picking up the keys, Callum was brilliant and is a credit to the Evans Halshaw team.
