Evans Halshaw - Renault Durham Arvostelua 

I purchased my car in July 2024. The presale advise was great and very attentive however when I took the car on a test drive a couple of issues were picked up. They were unable to fix the issues prior to me picking up the car so it was booked back in. One issue was fixed, however the dealership were unable to resolve the other issue meaning my car had to go back in a month later to Hyundai directly to fix. Both issues should have been picked up on presale checks, the parking sensors weren’t working and the tyre pressure sensors were broken showing a warning light on the dash.

In November I experienced a dead battery so jump started this and took the car to my local Evans Halshaw to fix, at which point several more issues were highlighted which should of been picked up on the presale checks - air con not working, coolant low, oil too high and an almost illegal tyre. I didn’t expect to have to replace a tyre at £98 on a car I bought 5 months ago, apparently this is covered under expected wear and tear according to the dealership. Thankfully they agreed to reimburse me for the £250 battery and have fixed the other issues for free. My local depot advised that there was an issue with the track rods however EH Duran advised they were fine…I will be checking this independently. I sent the report from my local dealership to the sales team member who I had been dealing with and this hadn’t been passed onto the service department so when I called to check up on my car, they didn’t know they had to look at this which was frustrating because it delayed me getting my car back. I had requested the sales manager to call me regarding the issues because I was very disappointed that not all the information had been passed onto to service team to fix, this was Friday lunchtime and I haven’t heard back.

I found that the customer service deteriorated each time I had to contact them, getting little information infrequently lead me to chasing for updates constantly. I have now had my car just over 5 months and it has had to be in for repairs 4 times.

More attention to checks before selling the car is required as well as consistent levels of customer service from presale to post sale.

Positives - very lovely team members in the service department as well as the curtsey car delivery man. A curtsey car was provided each time bar my visit to my local branch as this was a quick stop.

Overall very frustrated with the issues and being out £98.

Had the car booked in for a service and asked to have the car collected and returned bt Evans Halshaw Durham. Absolutley brilliant servvice kept informed all the way through the service and returned to us promptly after the service, well pleased

Purchased a car from here at the start of May and was very happy with the purchase. A month in needed to return due to a hole in the exhaust which was sorted hastily with no issues. However took the car back this week due to a gearbox issue which will require the whole gearbox to be replaced which we have to pay for. Surely a gearbox issue should have shown up on the pre checks that they do before the car is sold I have only done 2000 miles since purchasing the car so refuse to believe that i caused the issues on a short drive to work each day. Brilliant in the first few weeks after buying a car once it is sold couldn’t care less. AVOID.

My car was serviced and I pay £30 a month service plan which includes a wash and valet that wasn't done. The repairs were £635 which is expensive and I have been told from another garage I could of paid half of that.

Quick effective service. Supported in getting the right deal for me.
