Evans Halshaw - Ford Darlington Arvostelua 

We received an excellent service from Evan Halshaw, evrything from the text reminder to the actual vehicle service. The staff were very polite and professional throughout.

My car had an engine light on.
It was collected promptly on the day of investigation.
I was sent a description of the car's health and informed of the reason for the engine light being lit.
An update was required and I was phoned by the service department to advise that this had been done.
I was advised to ring back if the problem reoccured. The car was returned to me that afternoon.
All staff were courteous, polite and helpful. I was very happy with the service.

At 0830hours on Saturday 13th January 2024 I checked in my car for its 2year service at Evans Halshaw, Darlington costing £340. Prior to booking the vehicle in I noticed that a dashboard light was illuminated stating the tyre pressure was low. The dash read out stated that bothe the rear tyres were low.

At approximately 1030hours the same day I received a phone call that the service had been completed and it was receiving a complimentary wash and would be ready to collect in thirty minutes.

At 1130hours the same day I collected my car and noticed it was actually dirtier than when I had dropped it off and looked like it had been washed with a dirty mop. I made member of staff aware who was empathetic and offered the car to be washed again. An offer which was refused. It was explained to me that a further member of staff had called in sick so the wash must have been rushed. I explained I would have preferred no wash than receive my car dirtier. I explained I had previously had issues with Evans Halshaw service department and had only returned due to Lookers Ford closing down.

Upon driving home I noticed that the dashboard light was no longer illuminated which you would expect as the vehicle had just received an extensive 2year service. However toggling through the dash set up I noticed that none of the tyres had their pressure adjusted. This is a simple procedure and expected in a service. Especially as the light was notifying the issue with the low pressure.

On returning home I read through the documentation received from Evans Halshaw and noticed they have not marked up they have checked or adjusted the tyre pressure on the checklist. Also they have positively marked up they have checked the spare tyre and pressure. I find this very hard to believe as the vehicle has no spare tyre.

I am actually questioning the integrity of the service, has any work actually been carried out? You can have the best staff in the world checking the vehicles in reception but if I can’t trust you are going to conduct the work you have contractually agreed it impacts the integrity of the workmanship/documentation. I have essentially paid £340 and I am none the wiser if any work has actually been carried out. I won’t be using Evans Halshaw service department ever again and although I had a verbal agreement to buy my next car in February from Evans Halshaw (which I have bought 3 in the last 6years) I will have to seriously contemplate due to the damage in confidence to your brand.

There was mention of how Evans Halshaw could do better? How about being honest about the work that has been conducted.

Joanne had to run around town to find an open Post Office that would provide car tax.
Martin got out the leather cleaner himself to make sure the seats were perfect for me driving away, and agreed to get the small issues in the bodywork and alloys resolved for me at my home dealership in Edinburgh.

Booking cancelled twice. third time got to Dealer and it hadn't been booked in despite me making the booking.
Transits have a wet belt degradation issue. Wet belt changed but oil wasn't. Why leave contaminated oil in the engine ?

Joanne was brilliant! Talked me through every step of getting my car. She was incredibly patient, kind, and unbelievably flexible regarding appointment times. She made it easy and stress-free to get my car sorted quickly whilst feeling completely informed and in charge throughout.
