I had a really disappointing experience with Desert Essence. My package was marked as delivered by UPS, but I never received it. I contacted both UPS and Desert Essence — UPS closed the claim without ever contacting me, and Desert Essence refused to take any responsibility. Their customer care told me I had to deal with UPS directly, even though I purchased the product from them.

I raised customer report #01062588 with Desert Essence, but they still refused to help, offering no refund, no replacement, and no meaningful support. In the end, I was left to cover the loss myself. It’s frustrating that they don’t stand behind their deliveries or try to support the customer when something goes wrong.

Be cautious ordering from them — if your package goes missing, you’re on your own.

I like the products but the company is being run like it's 1990. You'll be lucky if you receive any communications after placing your order. This time I received an order confirmation and that was it, no notification of item cancelled and no shipping notification. The company's name that comes up on your debit/credit card is Country Life Vitamins and not Desert Essence which confused me when I went to view activity on my account. I don't know if I'll order from them again. This was my second time and i don't have time to baby sit orders and make inquires by email multiple times.

Such great options for cruelty free and vegan face and body care! Their shipping practices are top of the line (they package their product perfectly). I have been ordering from them for 3 years, nearly every single bath and beauty product I use is from Desert Essence. Not only do the items arrive in perfect condition, it’s been right 100% of the time. Best of all, the products are A+ quality.
I love this company and I’ll be using them for always, I love to see them expand their lines. They have great holidays deals, they offer tote bags for free that I always use when I shop and they always throw in samples. Give them a try for your vegan necessities, you’re gonna love it. I think the sweet almond body wash is one of the best smells, the coconut toothpaste is amazing (it instantly made my teeth white, I couldn’t even believe it) and their mouthwash is incredible! My favorite product of all time is their Castile liquid soap, I no longer have dry hands. I’ve literally changed nothing in my daily routine except added that and for the last 3 years I haven’t had dry hands even once!!!

So I'll try to keep this short.

On August 4th I e-mailed them & they never got back to me. I e-mailed them again, then to their other e-mail on Country Life & again no response. I called 3 times & left messages because no one picked up.

I would get one phone call, then one response to my e-mail, they wouldn't answer properly, I would respond back & again they wouldn't respond.

Oh, and they also expected ME to repeat my questions when all they had to do was search my e-mail address & look them up for themselves, but I guess they expect their customers to be their secretary now. That happened twice.

I then tried to get them on facebook & that took a couple of days, but I finally got someone who responded.

Also NO apology for what was going on. I had to call her on it before she apologized.

I then had to go back & forth with them for no reason at all. It should have taken 1-2 PMs for her to get me someone.

Then finally they got the same person I had before via e-mail, who I didn't want, to call me again. Her name is Melissa and she's terrible.

She never even apologized or addressed all the HORRIFIC customer service issues with e-mails & phone calls.

They are just ignoring everything.

Then I got a call while talking to her & I asked her to call me back. She never did. She responded back to my e-mail & refused to ship me the blemish sicks that I was promised by Barbara.

I wrote back & she ignored my e-mail again & then on Facebook they ignored me as well.

I have been a customer of desert essence since at least 1990 and this is how terrible they are now.

I've wasted months just trying to get 2 questions answered & then the blemish sticks.

I have never had such terrible customer service from them before although I rarely contact them.

I asked simple questions about the ingredients in their products & I got belligerent a response from Melissa & then they ignored me.

I lost tons of money because their blemish sitcks started evaporating the liquid inside so the next thing I knew, the blemish sicks were empty. Each stick costs anywhere between $7-9 each & I've lost around 5-7 over the last few years.

That's why I was told I would get them replaced, but I was overseas at the time & Barbara even made a note about it & of course, Melissa refused to look & didn't even care.
