Converse Falsely Advertises
I currently own three pairs of Converse shoes and my wife owns four. I recently ordered a pair of low-top Chuck Taylor’s in a wide size online and took a chance on them fitting. Particularly as no brick and mortar retail store stocks wide sizes to try on. However, before I placed my order, I checked Converse's online return policy should I need to order a different size. Their policy reads as follows,
"The Converse Canada website offers refunds rather than exchanges. That way you can re-order any style/color/size that you want, and at any time you want. We offer free shipping on replacement orders, please contact customer support for details."
While their policy reads, "We offer free shipping on replacement orders" seems rather explicit, you are told only after purchasing their products that, the customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping.
I can not imagine a more clear and deliberate example of false advertising than this situation. Any attempt to reconcile this deceit with Converse’s customer service is met with complete indifference. I am truly surprised and disappointed that a favoured popular and recognizable brand would operate in this fashion. Particularly when word of mouth can be disseminated loudly and broadly online. I am considering switching to a different sneaker brand, one that at the very least, respects and values its customers.
