The product is fine now I have sorted out the poor edge but it took five months to get it to me! Even a cheap machete shouldn't have a thick bur on the grind. I was asked at the time (as it was no longer in stock even though advertised as available) if I wanted to wait until it was back in stock or have a refund. If I had been made aware that it was going to take as long to restock I wouldn't have been as concerned about the wait. Better communication would have helped in this instance. I needed the tool for a particular task and therefore it's late arrival was frustrating, I should have checked how long your re-stock was going to take so was also to blame. This being the case I have adjusted my rating.

Thanks for the review. The "poor edge" is standard for a Cold Steel machete. It is just that a machete edge and not a knife edge.
As for the delay in your order. There was a discrepancy with the stock that we had in December (we were due a stock take).
You we informed of the mistake and informed that there was no restock date for the order and asked what you would like to do with the order. You informed us that you were happy to wait even though there was no restock date. So I'm quite confused as to why you've given us a 1 star review.

Got it, we should have emailed you before we processed it to check if you still wanted it. Would that have resolved the issue?
We don't normally hold back orders. It was only created because the order was created due to the incorrect stock. So all I can assume is that Kevin forgot that it makes sense to check with you if you still wanted the product. I'll flag it as an opportunity for improvement with him.

Product is solid enough.
But I enquired regarding the shovel handle not being treated at the tip which plugs in shovel head & asked 7 days ago if I should treat/varnish this part myself for preservation or if its deliberately not treated to allow for more flex in wood.
STILL NO reply from customer service email listed on website. And I've used the shovel untreated now.
