Our family has paid to be members the last 8 years or so. We were gold level with CHM plus. This spring the worst happened. I got chest pain, went to ER and chest CT showed tumors. I have two cancers, lymphoma and thyroid at 46 years old. The next six months have been a whirl of surgeries, biopsies, chemo etc. Understand that all the administrative resposibility of submitting bills, obtaining itemized bills falls on you, and it is A LOT! That is the biggest downside. Expect to have someone get really organized to juggle submitting the flood of bills. That being said, I am so thankful from the bottom of my heart to have my bills provided for. We would have lost everthing and I would not be getting the care I need without it. The best part is that CHM does not dictate your treatment like insurance. My oncologist told me that I could not have the drug that increases survival and greatly decreases adverse organ damage because insurance would never pay for it. I told him that CHM is not insurance, and they would pay for it, and they have. CHministries has literaly saved my life. I have children at home and I have a 91% chance of a permanent cure with the latest immunotherapy. CH ministries has saved my life and my families financial stability.

I am a healthcare provider who has paid premiums for CHM for 2 years as I have always heard good things and have worked with insurance companies for a living and know how terrible they can be. However, CHM is no different, my wife and I went through IVF for our second child and though they were clear that IVF services are not covered, they made no comment about covering the birth. After the birth of our son we are sitting with a stack of bills trying to submit claims to them and they deny the whole thing based on it starting with IVF, and when you call they refer you back to an obscure line in your contract, like every insurance does. They are a complete scam using Christianity as a way of profit don't waste your money here.

My wife had a surgical procedure in April 2026. Christian Healthcare Ministries has been great to work with. They are friendly and accessible. It is just nice to work with people who are like minded spiritually and pleasant to work with, unlike most insurance companies. We got pre-approval on the surgery which really helped. The biggest challenge was not CHM but getting medical service providers to provide itemized bills and not just provide estimates. This is key. But that is not their issue, it is the doctors and facilities who usually work with insurance companies and not self pay customers like we did with CHM. My experience with my wife has been far better than our last event where we dealt with a major insurance company which was a terrible experience. If you are a Christian and want to participate in this sharing ministry, I highly recommend them. Our experience has been very good.

CHM has been a huge disappointment. The marketing sounds reassuring and faith-based, but my experience has been anything but transparent. I pay monthly, paid $1,400 out of pocket for an MRI, and then received a reimbursement check for only $232. Shortly after, I received another letter stating my patient responsibility was $1,250.

At that point, I had to ask myself: what exactly am I paying for? When a major medical expense leaves me responsible for nearly the entire bill, the coverage provides very little real value. The gap between what is promised and what is actually reimbursed feels misleading. I joined expecting meaningful assistance with healthcare costs, but instead I was left with most of the bill. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend CHM and will be looking for alternatives as soon as possible.

CHM was amazing prior to 2022. After that their pricing has gone up so high that it basically makes more sense to go private. The way they manage bill submissions is very cumbersome, it's gotten better very recently, but it is still way more intensive than private insurance. The reimbursement process takes 60-120 days depending on how backed up they are. The worst part is that even on the best plan you still are responsible for the first $1250 per illness or incident. So basically instead of having an annual deductible you have a per incident deductible you need to meet every time you have a new medical issue. That for each person on the plan. So if you break your arm in Feb, you pay the first $1250 before they cover anything. Then later in November you are hospitalized for 2 days for something, you again pay the first $1250 before they cover anything. This applies to ever person on the plan individually every time there is a new event. Again, they were a great alternative solution, but now the cost and structure makes it totally unaffordable.
