Not to be trusted. They shill bid a lot so the customer always ends up paying more than they intend to pay. Especially if you are bidding online - as they take quick bids and you have no control on how much is bid. And when you challenge them, they will ban you from biddind, so very autocratic as well. Not a nice company to deal with. Avoid it if you can.
Whilst here are occasional bargains one needs to be very careful as Charles Taylor sells a lot of rubbish. I’ve bought a few tablets and PCs and most haven’t worked. They are also generally really old, past sell by date. Unpackaged bedding often is dirty. I’ve noticed that certain items will get ‘passed’ as the price isn’t high enough but then end up showing as sold at a lower price. Pressing the bid button in live auction can register a higher bid than you intend (presumably as multiple people bid at the same time). I generally buy for charity but have become very wary. I bid on some hoovers recently but when I challenged them over the misleading description they refused to cancel and relist. Eventually they agreed to sell them with a more accurate description (ie they are only good for parts) and they then sold for just over 10% of the price meaning I lost out materially. Bid at your peril.
On 19 August I authorised a £200 refundable payment to Charles Taylor Auctioneers so that I could bid in their auction on 22–23 August. I bought nothing.
Two payments of £200 were taken, one to Charles Taylor, one to i-bidder. They deny taking the second payment, they claim to have refunded the first one.
But I have not had either payment refunded, so there is a gaping £400 hole in my bank account.
