Certainly Wood Arvostelua 80

We have purchased firewood from Certainly Wood every year since 2017 and have placed 27 orders for Large Bulk Bags or Extra Large Crates.

Whilst the timber has varied over that time we have always been delighted. The logs in Bulk Bags have been amazing. Clean, an excellent or large size, a great variety, just superb.

The two orders in 2025 were for the Extra Large Crates of both Kiln Dried Mixed Hardwood, & Silver Birch & Oak.

The moisture content was outstandingly good at just under 9%.  The oak was mainly offcuts from a sawmill with sawn angular shapes. These are outstandingly good at the bottom of a 'stack' for starting the fire and always burn superbly for a long time.

Having completely emptied both crates to stack the timber in a log store, we have seen that  both crates were extremely well packed with absolutely no empty space.

The crates have totally excellent firewood and are of great value giving a good variety of firewood for a wood burning inset fire, however, we do miss the outstanding variety of logs that come in a bulk bag.

Certainly Wood honestly could not care less about their customers.
Pallet Line fulfilled my 85-year-old father's delivery and the driver and manager were both rude and unprofessional, and entirely unwilling to act upon a perfectly reasonable request made by my father, especially given that the logs were delivered with an entirely unsuitable vehicle.
I contacted Certainly Wood to complain and the lady at customer services simply replied providing more convenient, but more costly delivery options for elderly and/or disabled customers.
Surely, they should have contacted Pallet Line themselves, as they should have been appalled to hear that their customers are being so poorly treated, but no, they obviously have so many customers that they couldn't care less if they lose a few owing to their downright miserable service.
One to avoid if you value companies that value their customers!

My partner has ordered from Certainly wood for years and we have always been very impressed with the quality and size of the logs, however our latest delivery was terrible, a whole crate with virtually no decent logs and 95% not much bigger thank kindling. They burn so quickly that I’ve actually injured my back from constantly bending down to the Woodstove to put more in. It’s impossible to keep the stove burning for longer than half an hour as they burn so rapidly.

We’re disappointed with the wood supplied in our most recent order. We’ve given two stars for the wood itself and for the communication with customer services when we raised our concerns. Ordering and delivery were both good.

While the wood is dry and burns quickly, many of the pieces are extremely small - some little more than sticks. We’ve been customers for many years and have ordered the same product before, but the log sizes have clearly changed. Although the company specifies a minimum size, when you actually measure some of the thinner pieces, they only just meet that minimum. In practice, the logs are much thinner than in previous orders.

As a result, the wood burns very fast and produces a lot of heat for a very short period. The only alternative is to keep feeding the fire constantly with small pieces, which isn’t practical.

We contacted customer services first to raise these issues, but felt our concerns were dismissed rather than taken seriously, which added to the disappointment.

We had already left a positive Feefo review based on the ordering process and delivery, but as that review can’t be amended, we’re leaving this Trustpilot review to give a more accurate picture of the quality of the wood in our most recent order. After being a long-standing customer, we’ll be looking elsewhere for our next order, which is a shame as all previous orders have been good.

Excellent service, got device about the new wood, sizes of crates and comparisons between bags and crates

Crates idea is good. However, logs don’t have the same burn characteristics as in previous years. Also many logs are too large and waste my time and energy having to split them.

The latest delivery we had is ok but the logs (kiln dried birch) are really very small and burn very quickly. It’s almost as though a lot of the crate content is kindling. I’ve always had excellent service, delivery and quality logs from CW so will research switching products before I go elsewhere

+ves: Great quality Wood. Easy ordering. I've used Certainly Wood for years. The delivery company they use to me is excellent.
-ves: Crate logs often split too thin, so lots of air space between them in the crate, and they burn too quickly. Very expensive compared to others.
Overall, I'm afraid that the quality has dropped, and the price has gone up too much.

The change to crates is a good move. Better environmentally, better value, and so much kindling when dismantled.

The crate was a useful way of containing the logs during use, i would definitely purchase it again, also easy for delivery and placement into the garage.

On our second crate of logs having previously had 1.6m bags. Crates work well for us as they are delivered straight into our carport ready to use without having to unload them.

I bought a large crate of barn dried oak logs. I wanted oak as it lasts longer than other hardwoods and we have plenty of storage for a large crate. The wood has been really good and I am likely to buy again when the price is right.

Simple ordering system. Excellent benefits from membership. Reliable delivery and good quality wood. The crates are great.

Why send a large load of logs down a small country lane and then not be able to bring it near the log store?

I am 83 and explained to the staff that I wanted it delivered close to the log store. Instead of that the delivery guy (who I felt sorry for!)could only drop off the palette in the road.The matter was further complicated by us having a gravel path (not unusual!)...their pallet mover wont work on gravel. I then had to hire someone to bring the logs in by wheel barrow and stack them.
Certainly Wood used to be a good local company. I suspect that because they have grown they have lost sight of customer needs.I will most certainly getting my wood elsewhere. I suggest you search around for another supplier.

I couldn't give more stars as for a lot of people this wouldn't be good value for money, those people who only make one purchase a year would not benefit, unlike myself who will probably make two it will just pay for it;s self at £35 P.A. it's quite expensive, other retail member schemes that iv'e joined charge £5 maximum. The other reason is the delivery communications are very poor, my latest order hasn't been fulfilled yet, I always ask for a small delivery lorry, this time an 18ton lorry turned up and was unable to deliver pallet kine was infirmed and said they would send a smaller vehicle only to send a second 18ton! they have informed me they will redeliver on Monday we will see, but I had to contact them directly to confirm.
Well they've done it again! Delivery scheduled for Monday PM arrived Monday AM, and dumped more likely from another 18 Ton lorry at the end of our 50 yard drive I am disabled and can only walk 10 yards at a time and in considerable pain, I will be demanding a full refund on the membership and will never use Certainly wood ever again.

Slow burn briquettes last about 1/2 the 6 hours claimed.Customer service wriggle out of this by quoting what they say they have found. it's a pity they don't tell you all this before you purchase. I'm now an ex customer. I knew these wouldn't compare heat and flame wise with kiln dried logs but expected something a lot better. They offered to take them back, but including the cost of my delivery and return it would have amounted to over £30 !! so not a good offer at all

I have been buying my logs for a while now from this company, I find the logs very good quality and dry However I am surprised that they use such a shoddy delivery company as twice now I have had issues the most recent not providing an ETA even though they sent a link etc saying so, I contacted certainly wood explaining that I need to be kept up to date to which they called me back with an ETA of 12 to 2 ! The delivery turned up at 10.30 without any knowledge so lucky I was home plus the one driver struggled to get the crate of the logs out of the rather small lorry and when he got to the tailgate he had to steady the crate and shouted out to me to lower the button for the tailgate ! Health and safety issue which I am sure needs to be be looked at.
To summarise logs brilliant staff polite but delivery shocking..

The tracking didn’t work. Waited all day on delivery day to be told that the Palletline truck had broken down. I had to phone pallet line to find that out. They said my package would be put on a morning delivery and expedited. Spoke also to Certainly wood. Next day I waited all day and late in the day I was phoned and given a 2-4 slot. It arrived way past that.
Everyone I spoke to tried to be helpful. Over promised though. The tracking never worked and I never got any SMS messages. I had also joined up to their loyalty scheme. I don’t think I’ll get to use it.

40% increase since January 2025. Daylight robbery. Feel sorry for all their problems, but to advertise a New Website Sale is crass. will never use again, despite using for many years. Much cheaper alternatives for kiln dried logs. Make Trump look classy. 😂😂😂

Recent delivery of kiln dried logs really poor quality don’t burn or give off heat. Have been using certainly wood for 9 years always great until now - will be forced to source elsewhere in future. Their change of supply clearly not up to scratch. Such a shame.
