Finally I've found a trustworthy garage.
As a ex motor technician I find it very difficult to trust others with my cars, even main dealers can't be trusted to the point where they've damaged my car and tell me it came in like that. I've found main dealers to be the worst.
Having acquired a (new to me) Mercedes Benz which wasn't feeling quite right while driving as it didn't want to go in a straight line, this was subtle and not an obvious thing like tracking so anyway I booked it in at my local MB main stealers to have a look at it. I gave them as much information as I could regarding this issue and requested that they do a full underbody inspection before making any adjustments incase there's a knackered bush or something bent or broken.
Make sense right?
They didn't do an inspection but just did a tracking adjustment and when I got the car back it was worse than when it went in so I booked it in to another local German car garage who couldn't find anything wrong.
Now I'm wishing that I had the facilities and the physical health to check this car myself but regrettably I don't.
My Car was due an A service which I could probably do myself as it's pretty straightforward but I needed to maintain it's service history which up to this point has fully maintained by MB main dealers.
I did a Google search and found these guys called BW Automotive in Letchworth Hertfordshire.
Now I was hesitant to call them simply because it's a minefield with these independent garages but they did have all 5 star Google reviews so I did it, I rang and spoke to James.
So, car booked in and dropped of as requested.
I opted to hang around and check the place out and everything was clean, tidy and in order. I met a few of the guys working there and they were all very friendly and chatty, even asking if I wanted anything while I waited, the whole experience was very unexpected but most welcome.
Now the bit you've been waiting for.
While doing my service they found that the front wheel bearings were very lose and asked would I like to have this matter addressed, now my thoughts were oh yeah, is this just something to pump up my bill but I said yeah go ahead and do them.
Job done, I paid for the service, both wheel bearings to be repacked with grease and adjusted, and the Aircon to be regassed as it was practically empty, remember this car has a full MB service history.
I collected the keys and drove away, now remember that I said there was something not right with this car that 2 other garages couldn't find a fault well, it's fixed and my car now feels tight and so sure footed like a new car.
I honestly feel that I have found a garage that has an interest in customer service and looking after the customers best interests not their own.
Will definitely be returning so watch this space.
