Lowes initially told me that if they could not repair after 3 tries, they would replace same. I can't help but believe the repair service will NOT notify Lowes so it can be replaced. The repair company has charged Lowes over $700.00 and continues the merry go round. It has become abundantly clearthat the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing! Oh...I also bought a 5 year extended warranty and the machine is less than 2 years old!!!

This review has been a long time coming, I'm done holding my mouth shut on this terrible business.
I've never in my life ever dealt with either really incompetent people, people who think I'm dense and in the wrong, or plain straight up sexist staff members. For years I've had issues with builders warehouse Somerset West mall and today is the final straw for me. Had seen a post on Facebook about a baby safety gate that was marked down from R1600 to R300, a friend had phoned into the branch and asked for one to be put aside for collection within the hour. First alarm bell that went off is that no name was asked for in order to know who was collecting the item. Landed up going to the branch and went to the information counter as instructed by the person on the other end of the phone call. Spoke to the lady at the counter and showed her the photo from Facebook and asked to collect the item only to be told nothing of the sort was put aside. Multiple calls later between staff members landed up resulting in a gentlemen approaching me saying there were only 3 in stock and were all sold to a woman who had come in the morning. Now please explain how you can tell someone that stock would be kept aside when stock is not existing. Communication within this business is beyond revolting as it resulted in a blame game against one another. Over and above the issue of today let's tackle some other serious issues I have with this store.
-sexist staff: woman are never attended to as they walk in or browsing around at items but the minute a male enters the store or is browsing around they are treated like absolute royalty and are taken care of within seconds. This makes woman who enter this store feel very belittled and off put by the situation and I can speak from multiple experiences and can speak on behalf of friends of mine who have had the exact same experience with the store.
-staff who are disrespectful to its clients: I will never ever forgive the one male staff member in the lighting department who came right up in our faces screaming at us for not greeting him. Excuse me you do not speak to clients like that EVER!
-Staff not knowing the stores products or where things are: My mother had come into the store a good few months ago after seeing builders sold dropsheets which she required. When she entered the store, firstly to know suprise was never asked if help was needed but then when she eventually found someone herself and asked about dropsheets the staff member had not a clue what she was speaking about and showed him the website and he said that the store didn't have any, which then she landed up finding herself and approached him to show him and he basically laughed her off. Staff in general at the store don't know where things are and shove people pillar to post between different departments which don't have anything to do with what the client is looking for.
I STRONGLY suggest that this store gets it ducks in order very soon as I'm highly annoyed after today. You have honestly lost such a good client over such simple things that shouldn't even be an issue!
Here is a simple list of ways to resolve all these issues just in case whoever deals with these issues are just as incompetent:
- TRAIN STAFF BETTER
-HIRE WELL SPEAKING STAFF WHO UNDERSTAND BASIC ENGLISH AND HAVE MANNERS
-INFORMATION COUNTER NEED TO STOP PLAYING BLAME GAME WITH OTHER STAFF MEMBERS OR CLIENTS
*Also just a side note, I know for a fact that the complaint forms at the information desks have been just chucked to the side before or straight up thrown away as I've completed numerous ones which I have physically watched been thrown in the bin in front of my eyes.
What you do with this complaint or suggestions are completely up to you, but just know I will never set foot in that store again!

It was my birthday recently
It was my birthday recently. Was thrilled when I received message below. NOWHERE does it mention that one has to spend R1499 to redeem this voucher!!

Went online shopping. The code did not work. A 2nd code was sent. Also didn't work...I then received an email saying that I had to spend R1499 to be able to redeem the voucher!!
When I complained about their lack of clarity, this is the response I received.
"The birthday voucher can only be redeemable online.
I completely understand your disappointment regarding the birthday voucher.
Please accept my sincere apologies."
Why bother with giving clients false hope...Most disappointing, Builders!!
It took from the 21st January until the 5th February to "Sort out this issue" which in my humble opinion is not sorted at all.
Builders Price match is a scam
Builders Price match is a scam. On Tue 14th April 2026 at around 5.45pm just before store closing at Parow builders warehouse the following poor customer service transpired.
Below staff and management refused to honour price match
Their reasons
1. They have to have a formal quotation from the competitor. My issue here is why would I take the effort to drive to the competitor to bring back a quotation to builders just I match the price. This makes absolutely no sense.
I then proceeded to show them the price on Makro on Google. As well as Bob Shop and Leroy Merlain. They still refused to honour the price match saying they still needed the formal quotation and they do not consider online prices. They also do not consider prices at competitors of the product is on promotion. I stated that if u received a quotation from a retailer they would not indicate whether it's a promo item or not. Seems builders just does not want to honour the price match. They know they are more expensive than any retailer and that's why they are looking for ways to get out of honoring the price match. The principle should be simple. Is the item cheaper anywhere else and at the competitors. Yes or No. Then builder should just match the price. The staff an management were clearly uninterested and not willing to accomodate me as the client. If any other electrical store was open at the time I would not have bothered going to buy my electrical components at builders.
I've proved multiple retailers had the exact same products at a lower price and I was refused and told that I may go ahead and notify the head office after saying I'm not satisfied with how their policy is being applied. I ad two items I requested price match on and had the evidence. Shopping at builders will be at your own EXPENSIVE foolishness and Peril. The one sales assistant in electrical and plumbing department told me they will not price match cos they know they are the only ones open especially over weekends they trade the latest basically implying because of the hours of trade they are allowed to exploit customers on price an we must just accept it. I ended up spending almost R1500 on one CBI earth leakage and 1 CBI surge arrestor which both wouldve cost me just around R1000 for the exact same items at their competitors.

I am utterly disgusted in the sevice I have received this afternoon at the Builders Parow Store.
Why am I being chased out of the store whilst I am busy shopping because the store is closing soon? I have never been attacked like that in a store before.
There was no prior announcements of the store closing, I was looking for assistance with the price of the products as this is also a mess, not a single barcode to match the products hanging.
Everyone's attitude was appalling. How does a store run like this? Who is in charge of training these people?
While waiting on a price for some switches. I was approached by 3 or 4 people all talking at once, gesturing to the time, not even understanding what they are saying because why are they all speaking at the same time.
I am a paying customer, buying from this store for years. Even the cashier was so annoyed and dismissive.
People across the world works on a Sunday. Some even starting to work this time of the afternoon, your customer service needs to stay the same.
Who treats customers like the are a burden when they are reason you are there?

The manager also needs work on her complaint approach. These people clearly are working with a paycheck approach, not representing a brand at all.
Fix your staff. Its ridiculous and utterly disgusting.

I placed an order on 27/01/2026 with order number 2024542960. The order was supposed to have been delivered on Monday but I have not heard anything about it. I have called the call centre and escalated it but no one has gotten back to me. We are very frustrated and are worried our order wont come. This is bad and disappointing service!

I placed an online order and paid with EFT on 1 January 2026. A R50 "installation fee" was added without asking me if I needed installation. Delivery time was given as 2-5 days. Order confirmed, I waited. And waited. By 24 January, I phoned the Customer "Care" line, only to be told the item was out of stock and the order was cancelled. They said the credit will show in my Builders account and I MUST GO TO MY NEAREST BRANCH for the actual refund. I said that I would be going on Monday 26 January and was told the credit will be available by then. In Hermanus branch, the people knew nothing about this and there was no credit and no refund, and that the customer care staff lie to customers. On Sat 31 January, there was still no contact feom BW and no money. Another long call to the C/C line. Cape Gate is not even answering their phones (apparently they were supposed to fill the order). Hermanus never phoned us back, Customer Care person Aziwe is trying to help, but it seems nobody can write down a bank account number and pay back money. This is absolutely awful. I will drive long distances past BWH in future to support literally any other business than them.

Builderssa item was paid for and ordered 3 Dec 2025 on your official website.. worst communication ever. Now you tell me it may be delivered next week... so I ask for a refund. And now you don't know when you can refund me.. you will speak to the supplier.. except I paid you Builderssa not your supplier. So why must I wait for your supplier who didn't sent me the item to repay me. Now its my problem to try and get my money back.. you are a joke!!
Not even worth a star
Not even worth a star. Ordered something from Builders Warehouse online 25/11, opted for delivery, never happened. It had been escalated, even got a couple of calls from some geezer, but still nothing. Cancelled today 10/12, took 30 minutes airtime, finally got thru to branch, requested cancellation & refund. The refund I got was a credit, back on the phone, I have to fill in a form with my ID and banking details, and send that off to some random person. Not doing that, going to the bank to get the refund. I will never use this unprofessional and frustrating bunch again.
Absolutely useless
Absolutely useless. Waited in the garden section for 15 min. Had to ask for assistance from a store employee who saw us, that was on her phone. She said she could "maybe" get someone. And came back and said no one can't help. No customer service or support. Even the manager laughs in your face if you have a complaint
March was my birthday month
March was my birthday month, and every year (to my surprise) I get a voucher from Builders Warehouse to spend and receive discount. It is such an awesome gift, as there is ALWAYS something you want or need from Builders Warehouse. Thanks so very much!
Annoying,rude,extremely slow service
Is it not funny how you always ask ,How can the company improve,yet you do not even bother.
Builders Kempton Park has the most annoying,self-entitled,rude and unprofessional assistants. This is not the first time I received a horrible service at this warehouse.They are very overstaffed but when you need Assistant you have to make efforts,run after them to assist.
I wanted bags od cements,and a couple of doors, they were too quick to take my money,let me wait there for 48 minutes, STANDING,WITH HBP,and I was dizzy.
No one bothered to assist,until I got annoyed and went back to the cashier to ask why am I waiting for so long, HER response was,"I work as a cashier, you must go outside,look for the guys wearing overalls to come and assist you."
When I looked outside,they're were two guys with same workouts, and I asked,who can help me,I need bags of cements and doors loaded on the car outside. One guy said to me,"We are busy,you will wsit and when we are done loading we will come check your doors".
An hour passed, if I did not leave that shop when I did,took my money back,I would have collapsed because when I arrived at home,my BP readings were 187/116
It is disgusting to be treated like you owe the shoo when you are paying your hard earned money

From their in-store experience to their online experience I can only praise builders for getting it right (most of the time). All of my orders have arrived early and I am a happy customer.
The only reason a star is lost is my in-store interactions are often a waste of time where staff are either unable to help or do not give the right advice.
A terrible service from Board section Tableview Builders Warehouse
Good day.
What an absolutely terrible service at the Board section at Builders Warehouse Tableview.If there was an option to give less than 1,I would. Placed an order for boards and board cutting on the 6th Dec 2024.Was promised that they will be ready for collection in a week’s time. They were not ready in a week and was promised that by the 20th and still to no avail.
I went back to them in the first week January and was promised that the boards will be ready the next week..which they were,however,some not cut properly to size. I then had to purchase another board so that boards can be cut to size. I was promised within a day the job will be completed..went back the following day,the following week and the third week and the cut boards were still not completed.
Until today,no call from them and still have not received my boards.

The worst customer service experience I have EVER had at BWH Northriding
I own a company that builds sets for the movie/tv industry. I have a number of drivers on the road at any given time and I purchase from BWH Northriding (mostly)
One of our drivers had lost a slip and I needed to get a reprint. As, I buy for various production houses, I am unable to buy on my BWH account, as the slip cannot be in my company name - these slips are handed to the production company.
Upon arrival at BWH, I explained the situation to Lebogang (customer care representative), she told me that I needed to get an account (not listening to anything I said, with regards the slips and company name) I reiterated that I have numerous drivers out buying for different companies. She then told me that I should train my drivers better. At this point I was managing to stay calm, but it wasn't easy.
I asked her if she was willing to assist me, and she rep**** that "this is the last time that I am doing this" - considering that I have not ever been to her for assistance, my patience was wearing thin.
Still keeping my cool, I asked her what she needed from me, to be able to assist me. She rep**** that she needed the date, the amount and what I had bought. All of which I was able to give her.
She then laughed at me and told me that I need to give her the barcode or she would not help me.
At this point I had had enough and asked to see a manager, she informed me that she was the manager. I told her that I was not prepared to deal with her anymore and that I wanted to speak to someone more senior.
At this point Reuben (Manager) came over, as I was busy talking to Reuben, Lebogang walked over, slammed a piece of paper on the counter and said "there is your slip". She did not care that I was mid-sentence with Reuben. She rudely interrupted.
As someone who has done Customer Care training, I was shocked that this is the calibre of person employed to deal with customers. Lebogang does not have the right personality to be able to effectively hold this position and I would go so far as to say, that she is a bully. She enjoyed our interaction and the more frustrated I became, the more she was enjoying it.
I hope BWH takes the time to properly investigate this and address it, as I have NEVER been spoken to like this, in a store before.
