Poor after-sales support – think twice before buying Brita
My experience with Brita’s after-sales service has been extremely disappointing.
Every time the filter needs replacement or the machine needs servicing, a technician seems to come from a different company. Brita has tied up with Reliance resQ for service, but the entire process feels completely uncoordinated.
On subsequent service requests, technicians may even offer you a “compatible” filter because original Brita spares are apparently not available. This raises a simple question: why sell a water purifier if you cannot reliably provide the original replacement filters and spares?
Brita seems to make very little effort to ensure that the machine actually gets serviced. The helpdesk response is usually that they will “arrange a callback,” but in my experience, nothing happens after that.
Reliance resQ will assure you that the issue will be taken care of, only to eventually send some third-party technician. The service experience has been frustrating, inconsistent, and at times the technicians have arrived with an unnecessarily poor attitude.
Another important point buyers should know: replacement filters can cost around ₹5,000–₹7,000 every year. This recurring expense is something that should be made very clear when the purifier is sold.
A water purifier is not a product you buy once and forget about. You depend on the company for filters, spares and regular servicing for years. Good after-sales support is therefore just as important as the purifier itself.
Based on my experience, I would recommend staying away from Brita and Reliance resQ, and in general, avoid buying any water purifier unless you have first checked the availability and cost of replacement filters, spares and reliable local service.
