Disappointing Experience – No Clear Outcome
I had a very disappointing experience with this structural engineer.
Initially, I decided to proceed because David was responsive to emails and seemed available. However, he did not attend the visit himself and instead sent another person.
Unfortunately, the individual who came struggled with English and did not provide any clear or useful guidance. I had specifically requested an inspection to understand how to fix a leaking roof and how to properly support the roof joints. Instead, the visit lasted around three hours without any meaningful outcome. When I asked directly what should be done, I was told they didn’t know and that the information would be passed on to someone else.
Afterwards, I followed up via email seeking clear advice. I was then informed that I would need to pay an additional £1000 for calculations—without any guarantee that this would provide a solution, and with the possibility of further costs for additional visits.
Considering I had already paid £630 (which was higher than other quotes I received), I was not confident in proceeding further and decided not to continue with this company.
Overall, I would advise others to be cautious.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment however I would like to clarify a few points as follows:
1. All of our structural engineers are qualified and trained to perform this type of work and all work is reviewed and checked along the way by a director and prior to issuing any information.
2. You required us to inspect the roof of your property due to sagging you noticed and you said it was urgent. We quoted for a site visit and a written report of our findings and you accepted and instructed us. We visited the property within two days of being instructed.
3. The day after the visit and the following day we attempted to call you several times but to no avail and subsequently wrote an email to explain the issues encountered with the roof on site and to advise you that a written report was not needed and that calculations and drawings were needed instead. In our email we also advised that temporary propping of the roof was needed until the strengthening works were carried out. Due to the change of scope we also advised new fees to cover the work needed and seeking your agreement.
4. Two days later we received an email from you stating you were dissatisfied with our service yet we explained what the roof issues were and why a change of scope was needed in our email. We also tried to call you for better communication but still to no avail.
5. We replied to your email offering you a discount on the new fees quoted and suggested we had a call. As we received no reply from you and as you had paid for the visit and the report we produced our written report and issued this to you very soon after our last attempt at contacting you.
Given the difficulty we had in communicating with you I find your review of our service unjust and kindly suggest that had you been available to take our calls after the site visit we would have been able to provide a better service and to your full satisfaction. I hope we can be of help in the future.
