My experience with Bennett Oakley has been extremely disappointing. I instructed them in December 2024 for a straightforward no chain sale transaction, making it clear from the beginning my expectations to complete within 3 months. Despite this, after 4 months of minimal progress, no clear timeline, inconsistent and often misleading communications I had no choice to transfer the sale to another solicitors.

I was repeatedly forced to chase for updates (sometimes for weeks) , only to later discover that key tasks had not been completed even after I’d been told otherwise. This included delays of several weeks in responding to the buyer’s solicitors and misleading updates about documents being sent or actions being taken.

The cumulative delays and lack of transparency led to a serious impact on my onward plans. I raised a formal complaint and even after that found out conveyancers provided me with misleading information about tasks completed. I ultimately had to transfer my case to a new solicitor.

This experience caused significant stress, financial implications and a complete loss of confidence in their ability to finalise my transaction.

I would not recommend their services to anyone seeking a professional conveyancing firm.

My solicitor was professional, knowledgeable & efficient. The work was carried out in a timely fashion.

Used this solicitor company as someone who could deal with both selling and purchase, including shared ownership and new build.
Started off really well and set up was all good. However the process became frustrating and ongoing communication issues developed. I felt I had to do all the work and chasing to get any answers, but even then had multiple times of no response. A complaint was made during the process but felt it was brushed off and nothing was said about it in detail. Call slots were provided but for limited times which don’t work if you’re a full time worker.
On completion day I was left in the dark again and given a response of “we are really busy” as to why completion nearly didn’t happen. This is not acceptable when plans are known and my case was previously being dealt with that day.
Post completion communication has been spot on though which is very confusing.

Great experience from minute one. Thorough work to make sure I knew everything I needed to know about the property I was buying. And made the whole process seamless. Would recommend highly

I had a mixed experience with Bennett Oakley. While some aspects were handled efficiently, there were delays and communication issues during the process. It felt like more proactive updates could’ve been provided to avoid frustration. That being said, once resolved, the outcome was satisfactory. Room for improvement, but not a complete letdown—4 stars.

Steph was really helpful and reassured me throughout the process whilst also giving me lots of information. Advised on barristers to use and was also mindful of financial situation
