By far the worst bank I have ever had to deal with. Poor customer service. Poor app - not even a facility to contact them via the app. No doubt because they would be inundated by complaints. It never seems to improve. Obviously a bank that is determined to service itself out of business.

Literally the worst bank. They take great joy in making things as hard as possible for foreigners. Complete liars, will make you got to different branches for no reason. Close your account and not tell you why then refuse to give you youe money back. This would be illegal in any country other than thailand. FRAUD ALERT

I'm disappointed with how this situation has been handled. After receiving my earnings from the Bitci Stack Asset Platform and trading on my exchange. My bank account was frozen just a few hours, without any prior warning.
I visited the branch with the required document, and I was told the issue would be resolved within 7 workings days . It's has been over a month, and the account is still frozen. To make matters worse the customer service isn't responding despite the follow ups
I understand that complaince checksvare necessary, but the lack of communication and the excessive delay have been frustrating.

What went wrong this time? Such a provacatory opening question. This time I had to get a new Bookbank. They can't say "Bank book." the last page had just two spaces and I went to the machine for passbook update first and it over-wrote some previous entries before I went inside to ask for a new bookbank. They would not give me a new book bank at the teller window so i had to wait and wait for one of the important people at the desks to get down to my number. It gave me time to worry if today they would freeze my account just for the hell of it. Then, as I feared they had to make a big issue out of the machine over-writing the last couple entries. Consult with more important people; ignore me and make phone calls and run the copy machines and call other guys in to ask me if they could help ... blame me for the entries over-written. I told them, shortly, that it was their machine did the printing over the older entries and I had nothing to do with it and it does not fkn mater anyway. ... Passport.!! WHY ???? I need a new bookbank. Copies of the passport pages and the big ugly Chinese man back to talk and talk and activate other machines and equipment and make me sign a signature form... wondering if they would give me a problem about my new signature style - since my arthritis has affected my hand and my handwriting - or maybe it was because of my Stroke I had months ago - but they ignored my scribbled signature, both copies, and made me sign on some more documents and then sign on more passport photos. and finally they handed me the new book bank. like it was some kind of accomplishment. I remember a previous time, a few years ago when I went back to the U.S. and came back to Chiang Mai and went to the BKK branch. The nasty young woman at the branch told me they had closed that account because there was no money in it. Later I went to another branch and attempted to open a new account. I should have started over at a different bank. After days of documents and phone calls and more documents it developed that the new account was no accepted because I already had the old account. That banker had lied to me. So cancellation documents and transfer of funds had to be taken care of. I am on living on a VA disability pension. The amount of money Uncle Sam direct deposits every month is pretty small. It is not enough to upset the national economy and it is not enough to represent profits from any illegal activity. Find a better bank to trust your finances to.

Email help just directs to call center line and so the process repeats.

Nach nur einem Jahr wurde mein Konto ohne Vorwarnung eingefroren. Vor fünf Tagen eine hohe Summe eingezahlt – die Mitarbeiterin am Schalter sagte kein Wort, obwohl das Konto blockiert war. Jetzt muss ich extra von Chiang Mai nach Pattaya fliegen, nur um an mein eigenes Geld zu kommen. Unnötige Kosten, massiver Ärger. Finger weg von dieser Bank!

Scammer bank. If you want to get bank letter for immigration to renew your visa, they blackmail you and will give you requested documents ONLY when you sign documents to freeze 400k thb for 4 months. And you will not be able to get your money back. Absolute bandit behavior. You have no choice instead to give them your money for free usage.

I’ve unhappily been banking with Bangkok Bank for 14 years. My branch is the bank’s headquarters at 333 Silom Road.
The waiting time at the customer service centre at the rear of the building is appallingly long every single time I’ve had to use it.
Why do they have 26 service booths of which there are never more than 5 occupied by staff?

Seit mehr als 6 Jahren habe ich ein Konto bei der Bangkok Bank und war bis vor ca. 3 Wochen immer zufrieden. Doch plötzlich ging meine Anmeldung, die ich seit Jahren gespeichert habe nicht mehr. Nach mehr als 2 Stunden in der viel zu kalten Filiale in Lamplai mat, 30 Minuten Telefonat mit einem Freundlichen Mitarbeiter in Bangkok und heutigem Besuch in der Filiale Robinson in Buriram kein Resultat, nur Geschwätz, Geschwätz, Geschwätz. Es soll angeblich 3 Tage dauern bis meine geänderte Thai Tel. Nummer in Bangkok registriert ist. Warum meine alten Anmeldedaten nicht mehr gehen konnte mir niemand sagen.

BOI should stop partnering with Bangkok Bank! Many foreigners like me work for BOI companies, Bangkok Bank discriminate foreigners but still want foreigners’s money.
I have been their customer for 10 years, their service feels more like Mafia operation than a professional bank. Here’s what i have been through.
In 2024, I visited Bangkok Bank @ Zuellig House to close my account after noticing suspicious deductions. At that time, the staff (Premsiri - I just got her name today from her colleague), showed no interest in investigating and was reluctant to close and re-open my account. Shockingly, she even suggested I continue using it as I suspect she is too LAZY to handle the required paperwork! She only reopened a new account after I insisted, with a terrible attitude!
At the time of re-opening my account, I submitted every document and my work permit as required.
5 Oct 2025, I experienced an issue with my Internet banking & called 1333. The call center staff could not access any information on their system & instructed me to visit Bangkok Bank @ Zuellig House.
7 Oct 2025: At the branch, I was assisted by 2 employees, Dream & Premsiri (Bank Supervisor) - the same person who had previously been reluctant to close and reopen my account.
They requested either my Singapore Identity Card, other government-issued document, or a letter from my company. I explained that all my original documents were in Singapore and that I could only provide digital copies.
I then asked them:
- After 10 years, why am I now being asked for my Singapore Identity Card?
Answer: Policy Change
- Why do other banks in Thailand accept a passport without issue, yet you insist for my Singapore Identity Card?
Answer: Policy Change
What kind of answer is that?
Regarding the company letter, I had already resigned in September. So how could I provide one? And why was this never requested when I initially opened the account?
Although I have resigned from my job in September, I told them I still have commission crediting to this account till next year and I need to keep it.
Next they claimed they had called me on 16 Sep, but no one answered. I was overseas in China (I still have my ticket as proof) & my phone has no signal, so how could they reach me? If they can’t reach a customer, why is there no follow-up or even a simple email to inform me of the issue?
The most outrageous part was when I tried to withdraw money from my account (I provided my original passport). They told me I couldn’t withdraw and offered only 2 options: provide my original Singapore Identity Card or close the account.
I am traveling overseas this weekend and need to withdraw cash. I offered to provide my original passport, soft copy of my documents and use my credit card from another bank to verify my identity, but they would not compromise. After 10 years as a customer, they chased me away, forced me to close my account if I wanted to withdraw my money.
This is the mafia way, my money is in their hands, and I am left with no options.
I can legally enter Thailand with my passport, why is it not enough to verify my identity at Bangkok Bank?
Just because I am a foreigner holding a Singapore passport, does that make me a suspected scammer? Not every foreigner is a scammer. It’s disgraceful for a bank to treat foreign customers with such bias. If all foreigners are treated this way, the bank should stop accepting foreign clients.
Obviously, Bangkok Bank’s management doesn’t care how their employees treat the customer or the poor service they provide.

It's really bad like many people below they just random freeze it without giving information what makes it unreliable. Stay far away from this bank many good or better alternatives. This bank quality is around that of 25 years ago. I even got denied at the bank for only bringing my passport not my empty bankbook

Account frozen, without warning, despite visiting the bank with all required paperwork, twice. Was supposed take 5 to 7 working days to unblock. Now 4 weeks and counting. Bank manager won't even respond

The world's most incompetent bank. Do not open an account with them. They will freeze your account, regardless of being in possession of your long term visa. They will lose the paperwork, no branches have any idea what the other is doing, no calls will be answered, staff at branches will be rude, incompetent and/or dismissive. The simplest administrative tasks are simply impossible to get completed. I've used Kasikorn bank and they are seamless. Bangkok Bank needs to be investigated for depriving people of their savings.
