The worst airline experience I have ever had.

Four hours before our scheduled flight, we were informed that it was delayed. We came to the airport and have now spent FOUR HOURS waiting, with virtually no communication or explanation from the airline.

We are EU tourists in Tanzania and were flying to Zanzibar, so we had no option but to spend these hours at the airport.

And now, after four hours of waiting, we have simply been told that the flight is delayed AGAIN.

No proper explanation. No apology. No meaningful information.

Delays can happen with any airline, but the complete lack of communication, transparency and basic customer service is unacceptable. Passengers deserve to know what is happening, especially after already waiting for hours.

Air Tanzania needs to seriously improve its communication and treatment of passengers. This is not an acceptable standard of service.

Terrible airline.

Booked ticket for my daughter and never received booking confirmation. So emailed several times, tried calling and contacted them via all of their socials. Absolutely no reply or help whatsoever. So ended up having to buy another ticket as with no confirmation and not able to find it on their awful website we didn't no if ticket even existed.

Raised claim with my credit card company but was denied as they seemed miraculously at that time to be able to provide some information.

I normally would fly Kenya, Rwanda or Ethiopia on this route but this time purchased an Air Tanzania ticket from CPT to DXB. The airline suspended all flights to the UAE. Fair enough, but instead of refunding me the cost, the checkin staff said they would fly me to Dar es Salaam instead, "which is more than half way". I didn't even have a visa for Tanzania, so wouldn't have been able to leave the airport.

After two weeks, I still have not had an email reply to my refund request, there is no local contact outside Tanzania and the airline doesn't answer the phone if you call the number in Tanzania. One of the worst airlines in Africa.

Thee worst Airline I've ever bought a ticket from and even ended up not using it. Had to book with another Airline. They're are highly incompetent and as usual, disappointing. They made us sleep at the airport for a freaking 2 days with no communication from the senior management. In this life and even in my next, I'll never use it or even fly with them. What a disgrace

If I could give zero stars I would. Air Tanzania is a dreadful airline. We went to the airport and were told our flight is now 3 hours later and not when we expected. We had no contact prior to our arrival at the airport advising of this. First we were told the flight was cancelled then we were told that the seats assigned to us were broken! We will be lucky to catch our onward flights to Australia now after this disaster. We attempted to complain at the airport and asked to board an earlier flight to no avail. I will never book this airline ever again and I will warn others coming to Tanzania not to use this airline either. There are many better local airlines here.

I have an internal flight from Dar to Zanzibar November tried to check it on the app it would not register or log me in I emailed them and they answered almost immediately and fix it in a few hours that’s good customer service I see here they are doing well hope that’s going to change their ban from Europe must be devastating to them used them a few times on short haul no problem

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR BUY FLIGHTS FROM THEM. My sister bought flight tickets in June 2024 from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar for our family. We flew with Air Tanzania in July 2024. This April (nearly a year later), an unauthorised payment came out of her bank account. After countless emails, there has been no further action or response. Still £500 down, we are all disgusted by the company’s actions and the way that they treat their customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
