Wonderful cycling the Camino from Porto…
Wonderful cycling the Camino from Porto to Spain. Accomodation great and easy to find. Really rate the the whole experience
Hassle free holiday
We’ve recently returned from an eight day, self-guided cycle trip in Alsace, France that was booked through Chirag and WW. The trip was perfect for us as we didn’t want to do a group tour, but also didn’t want the hassle of sorting out a route, finding our own accommodation and sorting bikes. Everything went like clockwork; the bikes were really comfortable, all the accommodation was in great locations and included amazing breakfasts, and the route guide was good. All the fun but none of the hassle!!
Cycling Holiday in Slovenia
My husband and I have just returned from a cycling trip in Slovenia. What a great experience, We loved the scenery, the people were lovely (most young people speak excellent English, many older people also spoke reasonable English). It feels a very safe country. Everything was well organised, from the flights, to the bikes, to the hotels and transfers. The quality of the hotels was very good, and we found most of the breakfasts exceptional - the variety was huge. Our final stop on the bike trip leg was Piran. The hotel was lovely, looking out over the sea. The hotel provided a card and you exchanged it for a beach towel. You walk out of the hotel into the sea, and at 39oC this was most welcome.
We also had a short stay at Bovec, well worth the trip but we would recommend a car in this area. However, while we were there, there were free Hop on-Hop off buses (one small minibus charged 5euro but that was for a drive up a mountain - what an experience). We had one small hiccup at the hotel in Bovec but Chirag sorted it out very quickly for us (at 3 in the morning NZ time - that's dedicated). It turned out to be a hotel issue, rather than anything that was not done at this end.
Buses to and from Ljubljana to Ljubljana Airport run about every hour (Arriva buses) and are very reasonably priced. Some buses will take a credit/debit card but others will only deal in cash, so would recommend that you carry some euros with you, as some small cafes and restaurants also only deal in cash. We also found that transport options on a Sunday are fairly limited (trucks are parked up in truck laybys on a Sunday until 2200 hours when they can resume travel through Slovenia), many shops are closed, however most of the cafes and restaurants remained open for business.
We were in Slovenia from 11 June to 10 July - the temperature ranged from 30 to +39oC which was a challenge for the first few days (coming from -4oC).
Thanks to Chirag everything went very well and we had a lovely time. I would certainly recommend a visit to Slovenia.
Camino and more...
Walkers World organised our recent trip to Spain and Portugal. We spent city time in Lisborn and Barcelona, combined with a week walking on the Portugese camino and a weeklong river cruise on the Douro. Chirag combined it together with private transfers, accommodation and luggage transfer. Everything worked like clockwork.
Cycling the Canal du Midi
We had THE best time biking the Canal du Midi from Toulouse to Sète in France. Booking the trip through Walkers World made everything easy and the 'Roadbook for Discovery' app was fantastic. It provided us with walking tours of villages, gave us accounts of any historic event that had occurred as we cycled along, and alerted us if we went off course.
The bikes provided were brilliant and there were tools at each accommodation in case any running repairs were required.
We stayed in some amazing places and all were easy to find, and close to the heart of the village/city - perfect.
There's sooo many more cycling and hiking trips we'd like to do in the future and we'd definitely have a look at options Walkers World provide as our first option.
Alpe Adria Trail and Lakes and Valleys, Slovenia
WW arranged two self-guided hiking trips for us in Slovenia. We proposed the combined routes and preferred dates and WW did the rest working with an in-country operator. All arrangements went well and the two routes combined seamlessly. We were new to the company and the self-guiding app so greater communication over the lead-in would have been reassuring. Slovenia is a beautiful country and very easy place to travel.
A wonderful experience that exceeded expectations.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable cycling experience. We were fully aware of the unpredictability of late April weather and went prepared for all seasons, but were blessed with sunny days. The tulips were in full bloom and the combination of the colourful fields we cycled past and the Keukenhof Gardens more than met our expectations. We enjoyed the variety of sights and historical significance of the areas we visited. Highlights were the windmills at the Zaanse Schans open-air museum; the sheer scale of Royal Flora Holland's operation; the countryside and the small historic towns we cycled though. Our e-bike were good quality, well maintained, and our guides well informed and wonderful company over the journey. Our vessel, the Magnifique III, was well appointed and we enjoyed the high standard of fine dining in the evening.
A great experience
We found the Northern Holland bike boat tour very enjoyable. This was a bike tour as we did 6 days of cycling of up to 50km. It was good - riding with a variety of scenery - rural areas, town and villages. Using the routes provided using the Dutch numbering system was good and we used the written number route provided. There was a GPS route on a phone app as well and we joined up with others that were using that at times. There were daily briefings of the route. The boat was very comfortable and the meals were good. There was a choice of mains we could select from - there was a vegetarian choice for every dinner.
We are keen to do another bike/boat tour with this company
Danube by Bike and Barge
We were pleasntly surprised on our recent Barge and Bike trip up the Danube, starting and ending in Passau Germany. It was a well run trip, the staff were helpful and available to help. The biking tracks were good and you were debriefed every night or morning of the ride. there was an option of biking in the cities with a guide but we choose to bus and do a walking tour. There was time to do some sight seeing from the barge. The food and accomodation was superb
cycling trip in Spain
We booked a cycling trip thru Walkers world and as we were a bespoke tour, it took a little while to confirm as everything as we had specific dates to adhere to but we had the most incredible week cycling from Seville to Granada. Our guide Richard was so accommodating and knowledgeable and really understood what we were looking for in a tour. Highly recommend it.
Croatia boat/cycle trip
Great cycling trip, very organised. Lots of variety in terrain and towns we visited. Lovely spacious, clean boat. Tasty big meals. Guides were informative, friendly and bubbly.
An easy cycle tour from Amsterdam to Bruges
On 31st July 2025 we began a week's long cycle tour with Boat Bike Tour Group. We began in Amsterdam and ended in Bruges staying each night on an excellent river barge called Magnifique IV. During each day, while the barge repositioned itself further along the canals, we (30 cyclists from several countries) cycled in two groups (a long cycle route versus a shorter route) each guided by a Tour Leader. The terrain was completely sealed, mostly very flat and generally on cycle paths which were separate from the roads.
We really enjoyed the experience, the scenery, the food and the people. Several evenings we went ashore as a group after an onboard dinner to tour the city that we were moored in. Otherwise we socialised the evenings away onboard. Bruges is such a magnificent city we stayed another 4 days to enjoy it.
Provence Villages and Vineyards Cycle…
Provence Villages and Vineyards Cycle Tour
Our cycle tour arranged by Walkers World was a great experience. Stunning scenery through typical French Countryside including vineyards, picturesque villages, beautiful rivers and more.
The accomodation was outstanding from country estates to quaint hotels in the middle of towns. All provided lovely continental breakfasts.
Most of the ride was on well maintained cycle tracks with only a couple of areas involving busy roads and off road terrain. But we were up for the challenge.
The bikes were first class. We only had one hiccup with GPS one day.
We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would highly recommend this tour and Walkers World.

Berlin to Copenhagen Bike Ride
Berlin to Copenhagen Bike Ride
We completed this fantastic ride organised through A Walker World.
The ride was beautiful, through many open pastures, cycle paths lined with wild flowers. Through forest and bush tracks to wild seas, it really was picturesque. Most of the ride was on well maintained cycle tracks.
All the accomodation was outstanding and very relaxing, by lovely rivers, lakes, small villages and seas to even a golf course. Just what you need after a day on the bike. In the evenings we would wander around the beautiful local villages. The breakfasts always delicious setting us up for the day.
We especially liked that we could chose our own path for the day, from the recommended cycle tracks, Komoot bike tracks or plot your own course – there was lots of variety to choose from, to suit every level of biker.
A fantastic trip we highly recommend. Thanks again A Walker World.

Cochem to Metz
My wife and I had the pleasure of cycling the Moselle river from Cochem to Metz, arranged by A Walker's World and staying on the MS Princesse Royal. This was our second trip with A Walker's World, the first being Brugge to Amsterdam two years before. The number of passengers on the latest trip was small enough to be able to talk to all of them and by the end of the trip there was a real sense of comaraderie amongst the passengers. The crew were exceptional, nothing was a problem and the two cycling guides worked well together keeping the 35 cyclists informed, entertained and looked after everybody’s bikes. The cyclists were split into two groups and so there was much to talk about after each day’s ride.
We were fortunate to have fine weather during the trip and experienced one of Europe’s heat waves. As with many of the other cyclist we had hired E bikes and so we created our own breeze when cycling. But the perspiration certainly started when ever we stopped with many cyclists dunking various pieces of clothing in the river or local fountain to keep cool.
The galley on the boat was quite small so the chef did an exceptional job in cooking a variety of meals for 35 people, especially during the heat wave. In fact the passengers would cheer and break out in applause every time the chef appeared. After each day’s ride there were cool drinks and a selection of nibbles waiting for us, which went down a treat.
All in all it was a very enjoyable, relaxing (yes, relaxing as the only thing you had to think about was what you would be wearing for the day), fun trip. We would not hesitate in recommending a cycling trip organised by A Walker's World."
Camino Frances (Camino de Santiago)
In 2023 my wife and I walked the final 100km of the Camino Frances from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, (organised by Walkers World).
We enjoyed this experience so much that we contacted Walkers World again to organise walking the entire 800km Camino Frances in 2025. We broke the trip into two 400km segments in order to meet some commitments at home. We walked the first 400km from St Jean Pied de port to Carrion de los Condes in May and the second 400km from Carrion de los Condes to Santiago de Compostela in September/October.
Walkers World organised our flights, trains, accomodation, bag transfers and a meal package.
Walking the Camino was a truly life changing adventure which is hard to put in to words.
From the extraordinary views walking over the Pyrenees to the special moments retracing the steps of pilgrims who have walked this path since the ninth century. We walked over mountains, through villages, cities, countryside, and vineyards to the cathedral in Santiago.
We also enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow pilgrims from all around the world of all different ages stages of life and religions. Everyone had a story and a reason for undertaking their Camino.
We also loved the food including the pilgrims meals, Basque cheesecake, tortilla and Santiago cake.
The walk is a challenge but the package put together by Walkers World enabled us to do "our Camino" and make it to Santiago de Compostela.
For anyone wanting a detailed day to day description of the walk reading
"The French Way:trekking the 40 Day El Camino de Santiago" by New Zealander Lorraine Thomson is helpful. The author also used Walkers World to make her travel arrangements.
Buen Camino!

Walkers world was primo with every aspect from info of daily routes pick of bags to hotels each day contact ph number of any issues. Southern Spain Coastal Explorer cycle tour
Our Southern Spain cycle tour was an awesome experience! It was everything and more we had wished for. Stunning scenery, lovely weather and fabulous little inland and coastal villages to stay in. Travelling by bike really allows you to soak in the countryside and explore areas you possibly wouldn’t go to by car.
Challenging but rewarding experience
Hubby and I did the Mont Blanc West Self-Guided hiking tour in September 2025. The organisation from Walkers World was really good. We were provided instructions for downloading an app with all the information we needed and it worked offline.
We are both in our 50's and pretty fit but it turns out, I wasn't quite fit enough. The hikes were really tough - very up and very down. Hubby loved it. Loved the challenge and pushing himself, I on the other hand, loved the views and the wildlife, just not the challenging downs. There are some great paths and some areas where there are none and you kinda head the direction that feels right. Thankfully it mostly was... except when we followed someone thinking they were going the same direction as us and after half an hour of walking down a lovely path, hubby's watch vibrated and he said "wait up... oh we need to go back up" as we went left instead of right. Oh and the reason it took so long for the watch to let him know we were on the wrong path is because connection can get lost.
The places Walkers World organised were fantastic. The included breakfasts were really good and the bags were always collected and at our accommodation when we finally arrived.
I had a bit of an injury on the second to last hike so we decided we wouldn't do the last hike and called the emergency line to find out how we could get to Bourg Saint Maurice and they were so very helpful and organised us a taxi from Les Contamines and although it was expensive, it was worth it - turned out my foot had two stress fractures - and all the hassle of public transport would have been too much.
The weather meant we didn't get as fantastic views as some will get but the cloud made for some spectacular views anyway.
TL/DR: if you are planning on hiking Mont Blanc, Walkers World are great and provide very good information.
Mont Blanc has some challenging ups and downs, especially if you're less than 5 foot 7, don't have good leg or arm strength to clamber up or down rocks or stamina to keep going when it's tough.
PSA: make sure all them muscles and stuff around your knees are strong for the downs.
Fabulous bike ride in the Algarve
The trip was amazing. The accommodation exceeded expectations, we loved arriving each afternoon to a swimming pool and a great room. The e-bikes were very comfortable and we never ran out of battery power. It was great having the options of more or less off road each day and the GPS Ride app got us to where we needed to be. It was essential to have a power bank with us to keep the phone charged while navigating with the app. We got to see a variety of landscapes from coastal to inland and were lucky enough to see baby storks in their nests. There were plenty of places to stop along the way for a drink or food and being self guided we could stop wherever we liked. The bags were moved to our new accommodation each day, ready and waiting when we arrived. The staff at the hotels made us feel welcome when we arrived, one even going out of his way to bring wine to the poolside for us. The length of the rides each day allowed for a leisurely start in the morning and still arrive with time to relax by the pool or do some sight seeing. Most of the riding was pretty easy but there were a couple of more challenging off road bits. Apparently a huge amount of rain had fallen recently and that damaged some tracks which would account for it. I would defintely use this company again. My only concern is that this trip was so good it could be hard for the next trip to match it!
