Phishy requirements
Good online reviews. During signup, asked for ID. sent my drivers license copy expired last year which has all the info needed to verify me.... that was not accepted by them even though it is REAL ID and absolutely confirms my identity which they stated " is the only purpose " for which it is used... but now they want current ID . Now reading the reviews here I have the same concerns - there is absolutely NO NEED for them to have copies of my sensitive id documents that could be lost, leaked, abused for identity theft. I wish now I had not given them the expired DL.

It's easier to get a bank loan than opening an account at voip.ms
Something shady is going on here. Beware.
Like many service providers, Voip.ms has a KYC process, which is understandable since they can't have their users spamming people (or worse) with the phone numbers they provide. So I wasn't surprised that they wanted to see my ID, and I provided it.
Then, they wanted an address. For a VoIP company, that seems a little more fishy, but I thought maybe in some circumstances they'd need to mail me a bill or something, so I provided a mailing address where they could reach me.
That's when it got dark. They requested a confirmation of that address, but not just any confirmation. I could easily provide bank statements and other forms of verification for that address. But they rejected that, and specifically required a utility bill for this verification. In other words, Voip.ms doesn't just need to know who's using their services; they want to know where their users physically live.
I had a long conversation with their support to verify that they were actually requiring that, and trying to understand why, because I couldn't believe it. They weren't able to give anything close to a reasonable justification. The only reply I got was that, as an alternative, they'd allow me to skip this verification if I sent them a sum of money through a bank wire, and then that would be the only payment method they'd accept from me, for ever. Beautiful.
I'd forgive you for suspecting that maybe I was dealing with scammers disguising themselves as Voip.ms or being phished or something, because it's just that insane. But no, that's the real Voip.ms.
So, before you consider them for your business, just ask yourself: Why would a VoIP service either need to know where you sleep every night, or have you wire them a bunch of money?

It took me over 2 days to have everything set up and going. Hours and hours talking to customer service per chat who are slow....I am frustrated. It took me a whloe afternoon with an app to get it set up correctly to be able to receive sms and make simple calls!!!! Each step needs to be configurated. Frustrating!!! SO EASYwith just Skype and now they go out of service!! Too bad.
Skype was great and easy- no fuss
Do NOT fall for this SPAM
Do NOT fall for this SPAM! They took my money after I ported over from Skype and the app and service NEVER worked! Of course! Support is overseas and they don’t help at all!
Great price and work everytime !
Bad experience; account denied for no reason
Signed up, uploaded a copy of my U.S. passport, was denied an account because "account didn’t meet the security requirements". This is complete BS; now they have my sensitive PII and I have no recourse. My background is clean; I have been granted a federal security clearance. No reason given for denial of account. Terrible company.
Had the same cell # for 25 years
Had the same cell # for 25 years. Signed up for voip.ms and within 2 weeks I now receive at least 5 random north american incoming spam calls a day. I NEVER give out the number and since I'm in a no cell service area, I haven't even used it for 3 years. There is literally no other company that could have sold my #. Incredibly annoying to say the least. I had to cancel my number to get it to stop. Avoid.
Avoid This Service at All Costs – Terrible Customer Experience
I recently tried to sign up for this service, and it was a complete disaster. They failed me on their security checks without providing any clear explanation, making it impossible to proceed. To make matters worse, when I attempted to close my account and ensure my personal information (including my passport) was erased from their system, I found there was no option to do this via their interface.
When I reached out to support, I was told the issue would be escalated to another department, but there was no clear timeline or confirmation on when my data would be erased. Their lack of transparency and accountability is extremely concerning, especially for a service that requires such sensitive information during the signup process.
If you value your privacy, time, and money, I highly recommend avoiding this service. There are far better alternatives out there that are more transparent, efficient, and respectful of your data.
Extremely good value for money
Extremely good value for money. I had been looking around for a solution for a VoIP number and preferably with fax. This service is aimed more at the advanced user, and is perhaps a bit more tricky to set up than most services that charge $10-$20 USD month, but it is much cheaper and more flexible. You just need to read the documentation and understand what you are trying to do. Also it includes faxing as a service, being able to set up voicemails, etc. etc.
Other reviewers complain about KYC requirements, but these differ from country to country and must be taken into account everywhere, regardless of the service used.

Went thru their whole KYC process and after submitting sensitive docs, I was denied for no reason. Now they have my personal info forever.
Disappointing and Insecure Onboarding Process
I recently attempted to register with VOIP.MS to use their services, but the experience was frustrating and disappointing. They requested personal identification documents to be sent via email, which is inherently insecure. When I inquired about a more secure alternative, I was informed that I could upload the documents directly through their website after confirming my email.
After confirming my email, I found I was still unable to log in to upload my documents. Instead, I received another email advising me that additional documents were required. Once again, they insisted that I send all documents, including copies of my ID, via email—despite the security concerns I had raised.
This process is unprofessional and raises serious concerns about how VOIP.MS handles sensitive customer data. If a company cannot provide secure means for document submission, it does not inspire confidence in their ability to protect customer information.
Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere. VOIP.MS needs to modernize their onboarding process and prioritize customer data security.
Know your client
According to the "Know your client" policy company decided to do not open account for me. According to this policy, I am not worthy of becoming a client of this company. I do not know if this is racial discrimination or some other type, but no one has ever treated me this way. Congratulations on your approach. Your clients who already use your services should feel distinguished. Maybe you could post on your website, in the registration form, what you need to do or who you need to be to become a worthy candidate for a client, it will save frustration and time when reviewing your offer to potential "unworthy" clients. Unless their time is also not worthy of your attention...

Couldn't get past KYC even after submitting front and back of my ID. Wants one with "EXPIRY DATE" Which is non-existent in my country. Probably better off looking elsewhere. Their services rely on expiry dates that they might be the worst thing since sliced bread :D Customer Support could be racist or whatever, who knows?

The porting is worse than pulling a tooth . It s been now 9 days since I initiated a porting request and i explained clearly that i am in Europe so that they need to let me know at least in which day they will send the request to the losing carrier. I received an email on the 2nd . i immediately called the loosing carrier Chatr to let them know . Normally one needs to receive a SMS message and one has 90 min to respond. Chatr said that I will not have to respond to the SMS they will take care of it . But Chatr only received the request on the 6th ! I spent countless hours with Chatr manager thinking that it was their fault until I realized that VOIP.MS cannot be trusted. All the while i was exchanging emails with VOIP.MS support team. Completely useless. At the beginning they also lost the money I sent to open my account and were accusing me that I didn t send the money. Real amateurs ... don t waste your time. I jsu t lost 9 days on the phone and email
No nonsense, good value. Recommended!
This is a no-nonsense, good value, reliable and full-featured VoIP service that I've used now for several years, often recommend to others, and continue to be happy with. Their feature set is large so there's some learning curve, but when I've reached out for support it has been timely and excellent.
Happy, and staying with them for the forseeable future!
Signed up and realised the service…
Signed up and realised the service didn't offer what I needed so requested to cancel and asked for a refund for the $20 I deposited for call credit. Didn't get a refund and now 3 months later they are saying I owe them a further $40 for a service I haven't used and asked to cancel. They are refusing to close my account until I pay the $40 so presumably they are going to keep sending more emails saying I owe more and more money. Feels like I have been scammed and am now being forcibly told to pay the money.
