My 1st purchase was the Guatamalan coffee. It's really fresh, full bodied and delicious. Over time I plan to try Vilars complete selection of coffee choices. "So far, so good".
The prior reviewer who said their coffee was not 'oily' is simply wrong. Good coffee should not be oily. I have used vilar imports for my coffee for over 5 years now. They always send me fresh and very delicious coffee. I usually get Brazilian medium roasts, but have recently gotten into their very fruity African origin coffees.

After receiving your 5# coffee and grinding it, (see pic) it shows that it is obviously not fresh roasted recently, nor does it appear to be dark roasted. Dark roasted beans are a very dark brown and oily. Your coffee is a light brown with obvious chaff. It appears to be old coffee. I have a small batch roaster and have roasted coffee for many years so this is not my first rodeo. They responded that it must be medium roast. They accepted my return and then blocked me from buying from them. BEWARE of this company!
