I rented a car from Viaggiare Rent in Olbia and, after returning it, I received a damage claim for a scratch on the rear bumper.
However, the scratch was already present at pick‑up — I have clear video evidence recorded before using the vehicle.

What is extremely concerning is that the amount they are trying to charge corresponds exactly to the deposit (€350). This coincidence raises serious doubts about the legitimacy of the claim.

Additionally, no staff member checked the car with me at the moment of return. I arrived on time before my flight, but the employee remained seated and simply said “no problem”. Later, they claimed damages without having performed any inspection in my presence.

I also purchased the Comfort Cover, which is supposed to protect customers from situations like this. Unfortunately, it proved completely ineffective, as the company still attempted to charge me for pre‑existing damage.

Despite providing clear video evidence, their only reply was that they “could not see the damage”, without offering any explanation or proper review.

This experience was stressful and disappointing. I hope the company improves its inspection procedures, transparency, and the effectiveness of the Comfort Cover they sell to customers.

I rented a Toyota C-HR at Olbia Airport in July/August 2026 under rental agreement OLB 7337. At vehicle collection, the on-site staff instructed me to inspect the car and document any pre-existing damage myself. I took thorough video and photographic footage showing all existing scratches directly inside their station lot before departing.Upon returning the car on time and fully refueled, €80 (€65.57 net + VAT) was deducted from my deposit for a minor scratch. I immediately submitted my original video recordings—featuring intact EXIF metadata with exact timestamps and GPS location proving that this mark was already present at handover. Instead of examining the objective evidence, customer support outright dismissed the claim by citing a formalistic clause (Art. 5.6 of their terms), alleging that documentation is invalid unless submitted before departure through their specific internal portal. A final notice requesting a fair review went completely unanswered.Jeopardizing customer trust over €80 for pre-existing wear is unacceptable. The dispute has now been escalated to my credit card bank for a formal chargeback. Avoid renting here unless you want to spend weeks disputing fabricated damages.

I had an absolutely terrible experience renting a car in Sardinia with Viaggiare. please stay away from them. From start to finish, the service was unprofessional and the vehicles were unsafe and poorly maintained.

First, despite having a confirmed booking, I waited an outrageous 1.5 hours at the pick-up location late at night, only to be met by a rude and dismissive staff member who openly complained about being tired of clients. This was a stressful and frustrating way to begin what should have been a simple process.

The first car I was given, a Kia Sportage, was filthy and lacked basic necessities like windscreen washer fluid, making night driving hazardous. Worse, a warning light for an exhaust system fault came on after just a few kilometers, and the car lost power, forcing me to stop. I tried calling the rental office about 10 times that day with no answer. Only after contacting a third party did the rental company respond, and even then, they just sent a WhatsApp message telling me to return the car at exact time in the middle of the day with 2 little kids loosing full day of holiday.

The replacement car was no better. It was also dirty and soon showed a warning light for needing an oil top-up. Between dealing with these issues and traveling back and forth to return the faulty car, I lost two full days of my holiday, which was incredibly disappointing and stressful, especially traveling with children.

To top it all off, I was unfairly charged €300 for a scratch on the replacement car that was clearly pre-existing. The staff seemed to have pre-measured the damage and focused only on that spot without inspecting the rest of the vehicle. They demanded a video of the damage, which I didn’t have due to the chaotic situation.

Overall, this rental company demonstrated poor customer service, provided unsafe vehicles, and tried to charge me for damage I did not cause. I strongly advise others to avoid renting from them to save themselves the hassle and disappointment.

Das Unternehmen akzeptierte meine Visa-Debitkarte nicht. Mir wurde gesagt, dass ich eine Visa-Kreditkarte benötige. Daraufhin legte ich die Visa-Kreditkarte meiner Frau vor, doch diese wurde ebenfalls abgelehnt, da sie nicht auf meinen Namen ausgestellt war.
Man bot mir an, meine Visa-Debitkarte zu akzeptieren, wenn ich das Doppelte bezahle. Gleichzeitig wurde mir gesagt, dass meine über RentalCover abgeschlossene Versicherung dann nicht gültig sei. Die Kosten für die bereits zuvor gebuchte Zusatzversicherung wurden mir jedoch nicht erstattet.
Ich sollte selbst bei der Versicherung anrufen und erklären, dass ich keine Visa-Kreditkarte besitze. Das tat ich in Anwesenheit der Mitarbeiterin. Da mich der Mitarbeiter der Versicherung nicht verstand, bat ich die Mitarbeiterin von Viaggiare, die meine Visa-Debitkarte nicht akzeptieren wollte, ihm das Problem am Telefon zu erklären. Sie weigerte sich jedoch, mir zu helfen.

I hired a car with them for collection in July from Sardinia airport. I know you can expect a little wear and tear on hire cars but this one had its back bumper and rear door very dented from what can only imagine was a hard impact. The real issue arose from 20 days after I returned the vehicle to suddenly get an email stating I would get a 101 euros charge to my credit card which they did for refuelling my vehicle. I had returned the vehicle refueled from the petrol station next to the airport and luckily had used my credit card so I had proof. I tried contacting the various email addresses the company provided on emails but received no reply. I went through my credit card company to raise this transaction as fraudulent which I have received compensation for from them. I would avoid this car hire company at all cost.

Una stella perché non è possibile darne zero.
Esperienza pessima, la ragazza con gli occhiali all’aeroporto di olbia mi parlava con supponenza e in modo per niente cortese.
Avevo già pagato un acconto e non mi viene nemmeno restituito dopo che la macchina la ho lasciata in aeroporto.

Niemals wieder!!! Vor Ort in Olbia frech, arrogant. Haben beim abholen mehr als 3 Stunden gebraucht. Im dunkeln sahen wir erst nicht dass noch nicht mal ein Radio drin war! Beim Abholen noch schlimmer: In einer Warteschlange, die jungen Leute wollten uns vor lassen, damit wir unseren Flug noch bekommen. Die sagten: Nein, stellen sie sich wieder zurück in die Schlange. Uns blieb bald das Herz stehen!! Wir sagten wir müssen unseren Flug bekommen, das interessierte die gar nicht! Dann kam einer raus, dem gaben wir den Schlüssel und tschüss. Zu Hause sah ich, dass auf unserer Visakarte ein Betrag von 650,-€ von Viaggiare abgebucht worden ist. Habe sofort bei Visa angerufen.
Das hat alles zwar 3 Monate gedauert aber danach hatten wir unser Geld wieder. Bruchfirma, lasst euch von einem günstigeren Preis nicht blenden, sonst habt Ihr danach nur Probleme!!

Regelrechte ramp deze firma. Locatie op de luchthaven moeilijk te vinden. Eens gevonden meer dan een uur staan aanschuiven in de hitte. Toen we eindelijk aan de beurt waren werd er een probleem gemaakt dat de bestuurder
en de naam op onze credit card niet dezelfde naam had. De enige oplossing was een dure extra verzekering nemen van rond de 200 euro, terwijl we al een extra verzekering hadden via stressfree car rental (whats in a name), waarlangs we bij deze firma terecht kwamen. We boekten een suv model maar kregen een downgrade. Uitleg viaggiiare: je bent 2 uur te laat. Inderdaad we stonden in de rij het laatste anderhalf uur! Blijf er weg! Betaal liever 100 euro meer bij een andere firma, laat je niet vangen door ‘goedkopere’ prijzen want uiteindelijk betaal je veel meer! Oplichters!

Vehicule non disponible à l'arrivée car les horaires de vol avaient été modifiés par la compagnie aérienne et que malgré l'information qui leur a été fournie bien en amont, il n'en on pas tenu compte. Résultat 203€ supplémentaire pour louer une voiture disponible. Au retour, tentative d'extortion de 250€ pour une rayure déjà présente à la réception de la voiture ! Heureusement que j'avais des photos de la voiture sous toutes les coutures. Entre mauvaise fois et arnaque ! C'est à fuir !

Absolute Abzocke und Betrug! Haben ein Auto in Olbia auf Sardinien gebucht. Hier wurden gleich zu Beginn Zusatzkosten wegen der Debit Card erhoben. Das Verwenden der Kreditkarte meiner Frau war natürlich absolut nicht möglich. Bei Rückgabe des Autos wurden Schäden am Unterboden reklamiert. Woher die bei einfachen Straßenfahrten kommen sollen ist mir ein Rätsel. Im Endeffekt hat mich das Auto das 3-fache vom angebotenen Preis gekostet. Wer sich gerne über den Tisch ziehen lässt ist hier richtig

Booked a rental (in January) via VIP cars for pick up and drop off at olbia airport last Sunday. Specifically picked a car hire company that was on the airport as travelling as a party of 9 with a small baby. We went to Viaggiare and after queuing for an hour were told there was no booking with them. Called VIP cars who said the booking was with them. The staff at Viaggiare refused to speak to the agent on the phone and said there was. L booking even though I had the email confirmation and the voucher. The staff were rude an s unhelpful. I tried to explain we had a small baby with us who was overheating but they weren’t interested and asked us to leave their premises so they could serve other customers. Ended up having to go to europcar and hire two separate cars as they did not have a car big enough for us all, the baby overheated and was poorly Sunday night and we had a totally stressful start to a holiday and so far no sign of any of our money being returned. Absolutely would not recommend.

Très mauvaise expérience avec Green Motion. À notre arrivée à l'aéroport, nous les avons contactés par téléphone comme prévu. On nous a assuré qu'il n'y avait aucun problème et qu'une navette allait venir nous chercher. Résultat : nous avons attendu plus de deux heures sans que personne ne vienne.

Pendant cette attente, nous avons essayé de les rappeler plus de 20 fois, mais personne ne répondait. Il était déjà 23 h, dans un pays que nous ne connaissions pas, à environ 30 km de l'aéroport, sans voiture et sans aucune assistance.

C'est inadmissible et totalement irrespectueux envers les clients. De plus, nous avons découvert que la location semblait finalement être gérée sous le nom de **Viaggiare Rent**, ce qui est très déroutant.

Je déconseille fortement cette société. Une expérience catastrophique qui a gâché le début de notre voyage."

I returned the vehicle today via the key drop box and have just noticed that part of my deposit has been withheld. However, I have not received any invoice or explanation for these charges.

I called the company twice to ask what the alleged damage was. I was told that an email had supposedly been sent to me, but I never received any such email. Despite asking twice, the staff refused to explain the damage or the charges over the phone. As a result, I still do not know what I am being charged for.

There were already several issues when I collected the vehicle. I was supposed to receive it with a full tank, but it was almost empty. I returned it with more fuel than it had when I received it. In addition, there were pre-existing damages that had not been documented. Fortunately, I took photos of all of them.

The front of the vehicle was also still dirty and covered with dead insects, indicating that it had not been properly cleaned before handover.

Most importantly, I have photos and videos proving that I returned the vehicle without causing any damage. I have already contacted Check24 and submitted a formal complaint. I am now considering further steps to recover the money that was withheld without proper justification.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.

Esperienza di noleggio pessima, due ore per ritirare un auto, con solo una operatrice nonostante l’arrivo di moltissimi voli in contemporanea. Estrema maleducazione e consegna di un auto sporca. Sconsigliatissimo

Such an awful company - they lie and trick you when collecting your car- charge you extra money and shout at you when you complain. AVOID!!!!!!!

Ritirato il mezzo alle 11 di sera al buio, abbiamo fatto foto e filmati in condizioni di luce assente.
Alla riconsegna ci viene contestato un graffio sotto il paraurti anteriore che a nostro avviso era già presente alla consegna.
Dopo animata discussione con l’addetto alla riconsegna, lo stesso ci dice che possiamo andare e che non avrebbe provveduto ad alcuna azione…..
La sera stessa troviamo sulla carta di credito l’addebito di € 180,00.
La peggior esperienza di autonoleggio mai vissuta.
Mai piu questa compagnia, a distanza di giorni la sensazione di essere caduti in un agguato é ancora presente.

Accolti da un giovane presuntuoso ed arrogante, nonché maleducato, abbiamo subito avuto la sensazione dell’agguato.
In modo piuttosto deciso, si è diretto in un punto preciso alla ricerca di un danno, ai più pressoché invisibile, rilevando un graffio sulla parte inferiore del paraurti anteriore…Evidentemente sapeva già dove andare. Se volete “Viaggiare” tranquilli…andate altrove.

Ich habe noch nie einen so alten, mäßig sauberen Mietwagen erhalten, noch dazu ohne Radio.
Bei der Abholung wurde mir nicht vollständig gezeigt, was ich unterschrieben habe, das habe ich erst danach durch die Mail gesehen.
Auch die Rückgabe gestaltete sich unschön. Der Mitarbeiter war nicht gewillt, einen ordentlichen Check-in zu machen, sprich den Wagen auf zusätzliche Schäden zu kontrollieren und die ordenliche Rückgabe zu dokumentieren. Statt dessen habe ich eine Mail erhalten, dass ich nicht auf den Check-in gewartet hätte... Bin gespannt, ob das noch was nachkommt....
