Felt reassured that I was in safe hands

First time visit to the VeinCentre so a little apprehensive, but immediately put at ease. The consultant was professional and explained the procedure and answered my questions. The nurse was very thorough too and reassuring.

I received treatment at the VeinCentre Southampton by Dr Nigel Hacking. All the staff at the Clinic were very pleasant and the process, from the initial assessment to the actual treatment and the follow up session, was very straightforward.
After the 1st week, I did have some concern which was quickly dealt with through the call centre and physically checked by Anna Sharrock at the Clinic which greatly reassured me; that check was without cost. 7 weeks later, I had my follow up review during which Dr Hacking did a little more work on my leg and that’s it. I’m greatly relieved to have had the treatment and very happy to recommend the Vein Centre.

I was able to see a consultant quite quickly as I just wanted to check that the veins in my legs were not the reason for the ankle swelling so had a scan.

From the moment I walked through the door I felt relaxed the lady on reception was polite and helpful when I met Anna the lady who will carrying out my procedure she explained everything to me in detail which made me feel confident I'm doing the right thing now looking forward to 15th May when I when I see Anna again for my treatment

Friendly welcome. Appointment was on time. Efficient medical advice and all questions answered at the time. Everything about the procedures used was explained thoroughly and any possible problems were addressed.

All information given on the day was clear and precise. This gave me the confidence to ahead with booking vein treatment. All staff were extremely helpful and professional.

The minute I walked in the receptionist made me feel welcome and as I was introduced to the medical team they put me at my ease.

Super helpful and caring. Greeted by lovely reception staff, nurses and doctor all amazing. Easy to park, transparent and clear pricing. Even a follow up call to make sure all my questions had been answered

There's a very warm atmosphere at the Vein Centre on arrival. The receptionist was expecting me, and had all the necessary information to hand. The Waiting room is very comfortable and we were offered a cup of coffee. Mr Ahmed El-Basty is very pleasant and easy to talk to. I had my first treatment in November and had a follow-up with him today. He enquired whether I had suffered any pain or problems, took a look at my legs while I was standing, and then proceeded with the treatment. I understand that, following sclerotherapy, the appearance of the veins takes a while to completely fade. I feel very confident that this will happen and I am so glad I found the Vein Centre and Mr El=Basty.

My consultant gave a clear guidance of what would be done if I went ahead with the treatment, and what I could expect the results to be. The cost of the treatment was explained to me, with no hidden extras. It was an easy decision to go ahead.

I attended the Southampton clinic for varicose veins treatment of right leg. Everyone from reception desk to surgeon were fantastic and after initial and follow-up treatment, my legs looks fine. Big thanks to Mr El Basti at Southampton.

Fantastic service , everything explained at every step , was a little worried about having the procedure done but was pleasantly surprised how quickly it went and pain free , symptoms of heavy leg a nightime basically disappeared immediately after the procedure , i would highly recommend the vein centre . FROM MY EXPERIENCE, THIS IS A WARNING HENCE THIS REPEAT. I ENQUIRED ABOUT TREATMENT FOR ONLY 1 RETICULAR VEIN AND 2 ASSOCIATED THREAD VEINS BY EMAIL WITH A PHOTO SENT, THE UGLINESS WAS ALL TOGETHER AT THE BACK OF MY RIGHT KNEE AND TO THE SIDE. YET HACKING'S RECOMMENDATION WAS BI-LATERAL ABLATION. HE REFUSED SCLEROTHERAPY! OMG, I WAS A FOOL AND WENT ALONG WITH HIS RECOMMENDATION AND HAD THE ABLATION WHICH CAUSED ME SO MUCH TRAUMA DURING THE PROCEDURE, THAT I BEGAN TO FAINT; NURSE WAS MOPPING SWEAT OFF MY BROW/I WAS GRIPPING BOTH SIDES OF THE BED TRYING TO GET THROUGH THE AWFUL PAIN WHICH SHE EXPLAINED WAS BODY'S "FLIGHT OR FIGHT" RESPONSE. HACKING HAD REFUSED SCLEROTHERAPY YET I NOW KNOW THAT WAS THE CORRECT TREATMENT FOR THE ISSUES I HAD AND THAT ABLATION WAS INAPPROPRIATE AND UNNECESSARY AS I DIDN'T HAVE ANY VARICOSE VEINS OR SYMPTOMS! I CAN ONLY ASSUME MONEY WAS KEY! SCLEROTHERAPY WOULD HAVE BEEN QUARTER OF WHAT I PAID; YES IT SEEMS I PAID TO HAVE MY LEGS DAMAGED. I HAD LOVELY LEGS, WITH ONLY THE SMALL AREA OF UGLINESS WHICH NEEDED TREATMENT, BUT NOW MY LEGS ARE IN A WORSE STATE ESPECIALLY AS IS WRITTEN; ABLATION KILLS OF THE SMALL & GREATER SAPHENOUS VEINS AND OBVIOUSLY THE BLOOD HAS TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - I NOW HAVE LONG BLUE VEINS RUNNING FROM BACK OF LEFT KNEE DOWN TOWARD CALF! PLUS FEW SMALL PATCHES SIZE OF 20p PIECE OF BLUY VEINS THAT WEREN'T THERE BEFORE.

ALSO WANT TO STRESS THAT FROM CONSULTATION AND SCAN WHICH COST £250, YOU WILL NOT GET ANY EVIDENCE OF THE RESULTS WHICH MEANS IN MY CASE ONLY HACKING'S WORD/TRANSLATION! ITS WORRYING. ALSO CLINIC FAILED TO TAKE PRE-PROCEDURE PHOTOS, YET BEFORE/AFTER PHOTOS ARE PARAMOUNT AS PROOF OF WHETHER THE TREATMENT WAS SUCCESSFUL [OR NOT IN MY CASE!] THEY ARE WITHOLDING VITAL EVIDENCE, SAYING THAT DIGITAL IMAGES FROM THE SCAN ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET THIS IS THE DIGITAL ERA AND ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES HAVE A BRAIN; LIKE THE HUMAN BRAIN THEY ABSORB INFORMATION LIKE A SPONGE AND THEN STORE IT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. NOT SO WITH THE VEIN CENTRE, THEY HAVE DEVIOUSLY COVERED THEIR TRACKS! I DIDN'T THINK TO HAVE A FRIEND TAKE SHOTS OF MY LEGS [BACK/FRONT, TOP/BOTTOM!]

I'M CURRENTLY AT COMPLAINT STAGE 1; THEY'VE HAD 30 DAYS SINCE MY SAR/SUBJECT ACCESS REQUEST WAS SUBMITTED, BUT HAVE FAILED TO PROVIDE FULL DOCUMENTATION ON ME AND MY CASE! THEY ARE OBLIGED TO PROVIDE EVERYTHING. I HAVE NOW DEMANDED COPY OF THE MISSING PARTS OF THE JIGSAW, BEING THE EVIDENCE I WILL NEED IF I DON'T GET RESOLUTION. I DO BELIEVE MINE WAS A MISDIAGNOSIS - SERIOUS ENOUGH.

A FRIEND RESEARCHED VEIN CENTRE AS SHE DOES HAVE A FEW VARICOSE VEINS WHICH SHE WANTED TREATING, BUT WAS FORTUNATELY DETERRED HAVING READ THE BAD REVIEWS [NATIONALLY, NOT JUST VEIN CENTRE, SOUTHAMPTON]

I HOPE MY STORY IS A WARNING; BE VERY CAUTIOUS. I'D SUGGEST YOU ASK YOUR GP FOR A RECOMMENDATION, EVEN THOUGH YOU WILL HAVE TO "GO PRIVATE" THEY WILL KNOW WHO CAN BE TRUSTED.
