Founded in 2014 by Erik Tissingh, UAZ-Specials was built on decades of hands-on experience. His journey started back in 2002, deep in the Mongolian wilderness, where he first discovered the unstoppable UAZ Bukhanka. That encounter sparked a lifelong fascination with these rugged vehicles. After importing his first UAZ 469 from Germany, Erik became one of the first to drive this Soviet icon on Dutch roads — and the foundation for UAZ-Specials was born. Since then, the collection — and the community — has grown: a 1960s GAZ, a DDR-built 469, a Polish radio-Bukhanka complete with USSR-era electronics, a camper Bukhanka with rooftop tent, and the legendary rebuilt 469 known as “The Hulk.” Every vehicle added to the story and strengthened the network of UAZ owners, mechanics, and parts suppliers across Europe.
