Great tools for freelancers
Great tools for freelancers. The paid subscription works better, but in my experience, it’s worth it if you build a strong profile and consistently send pitches for the jobs Twine suggests. You won’t get every job, but with time and effort, you can build a solid client base.

So disappointed- Scam jobs on website. Paid for my membership on Twine and first job I received was a complete scam. Contact details were fake with a fake company email, the "company" wouldn't sign the contract before work and provide legitimate company information. (As it was a fake company)
The contact email address didn't even match the company website. Shows the vetting process really isn't that cohesive, will be removing my membership immediately.

I've 'applied' for about 10 jobs on Twine. I don't mind subscribing if I see some results of this process, but none has ever been forthcoming. This makes me wonder whether the site is legitimate. The Twine website is impenetrable. Just today I applied to Twine through LinkedIn for a job where I am supposedly a 'top applicant': the instructions I received by email from Twine to apply further (don't ask) led to a 'page not found'. A previous application yielded the email address of the client which turned out to be wrong or fake. Some jobs are listed on LinkedIn but not Twine, which makes me wonder whether they are out of date or fake. The site causes so many headaches for me that I want to give up with it and ask for my money back. I would say avoid this company. Even if it is legitimate its model is impenetrable and obfuscatory.

The free membership of twine is useless.
The free membership of twine is a complete scam. They generously refer the member to jobs but I have never seen one job they have let me apply to. They ALWAYS say "this job has received its limit of free applications". Interestingly, they never say what the limit is: I suspect it is -0-. It is also interesting that most of the favourable reviews are several years old and the negative ones are the most recent: meaning, "bad and getting worse". They will make excuses and say "Twine isn't for everyone." I say it isn't for anyone.
Constructive advice? Take the limit off free member applications. Let all members compete on a level playing field. If you are really hungry, sell advertising that appears in all members' dashboards. Or, I personally would not complain if you take 20% commission off your payments to freelancers. Your business only has a future if you get a reputation for supplying the best talent. Now you are getting a reputation as scammers and beggars, so good talent is going elsewhere.
I thank you for your reply, Stuart. I have said all I know. My reaction is that, if you believed what you have said, you would allow the freelancer to choose: payment in advance or subscription. Now freelancers like me have no choice but to walk away from Twine. Your pre-empting our choice "because freelancers don't like that choice" seems rather self-serving. You get cash in advance - from the freelancer and the client - and you do not have to earn the money by placing good freelancers who get a lot of clients and build a good reputation. And that is why the trend in your comments over time is negative. Those kinds of freelancers just feel like they are getting scammed, so they curse you on sites like this and walk away. In the end, your business loses because you took a quick easy profit instead of partnering with people who could grow your clientele for their own benefit.

I completely understand how it can feel disheartening when job applications fill up quickly. One factor is that remote jobs are often the most popular, as they’re relevant to more freelancers across our global network. These roles can reach the free application limit faster than local projects, which can sometimes create the impression that free members rarely get to apply.
To clarify, Twine offers a free tier to provide opportunities for freelancers at all stages, with 15 applications per month. Twine Pro, our paid membership, allows for 50 applications, direct client contact details, and increased visibility in searches. This model will help you avoid high commission fees on freelancer earnings, something we know many freelancers value.
We’ve chosen this approach to keep communication between freelancers and clients smooth, without acting as a middleman in payments. Update to your update:
I assure you, none of this has been quick or easy. We've been working on this for years and even had a fully commission-based model in the past (pre October 2023). But it created the issues I mentioned, and an additional issue: it put off clients posting jobs on the platform. We were told this by clients and we've seen it in the data. We doubled the monthly jobs on Twine in 2024, and expect to be able to accelerate this trend in 2025. The more jobs, and of course high quality jobs, the better experience for all involved.
Thank you for taking the time to give this feedback, I truly appreciate it. However, we aren't going to change our model. There will undoubtedly be tweaks (perhaps increasing levels of the free tier as you mentioned) but I'm more convinced than ever this model will create a better experience for all our customers.
