Aircon at the Hull gym has been broken for the last 4 months & half the equipment doesn't work. Avoid!

Awful gym at aintree no air con in the summer 50% of equipment doesn’t work, a fellow gym user had a dump in the changing area when I complained I was told by staff “I’m not paid to pick that up”and the showers are not even worth using

Only been a member for a few months but really disappointed. Tired and dirty looking equipment, carpets are pulling up. Really needs investment. On the other hand the staff are wonderful and very friendly.

I was conned. The guy at Aintree reassured me if I changed my mind no problem so I signed up. Three days later I realised I could not do it because of ill health so I wrote to Total Fitness and said so, cancel. TF said I signed a contract that because it was not online I had no cooling off period. I was NOT warned about that. So I now must take them to court - I will see the manager tonight to check before I do so.

Terrible gym in Hull. In a good area but terrible broken equipment never fixed, warm water at water fountains and no AC in gym working since I joined over 1 year ago.

my husband has been bed bound since February after coming out of hospital, we have been trying to cancel his membership ever since I have on his behalf written to them, cancelled on the website, this now no longer recognises his e-mail, however the £37.00 per month is still going out, before this we were happy with the gym and staff but now its a nightmare.

Awful customer service, non existent manager should you ever need one, take money from your account wrongly, my account lapsed in may 2023 after a pre paid 1 year deal ended, ive never been since april yet they have just tried nearly 4 months later without any e mail or contact to take 580 quid from my bank

The management do not want to help members...i have had such zero customer service.go to relax depart stressed
I tried to get help with a smart parking ticket...i spent 1 hour
In club..car park machine did not rehister.They would not help sympathise assist in ANY WAY
I was told on "joining" any problems with parking my boss will sort it our...pure and utter sales pitch

Dreadful customer service. Joined the gym with my son, they failed to explain the age restrictions on the treadmills etc until three weeks into our membership when we were pulled to one side and told he can't use the treadmills! Cancelled membership and lodged a complaint, no offer of refund for joining fees given their lack of explanation on joining. Even the gym staff admitted they had messed it up.and should've explained. Will never be returning and wouldn't recommend

A business on the decline and it is VERY evident. The treadmills have to be the worst on the market and 20 years old. The screen constantly freezer leaving you stranded when you want to turn the speed up or down. It ruins workouts. The cleanliness is appalling at times. You can feel the money being stripped from the place. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere if you are considering.

Advertise free passes everywhere but when I tried to book one they said they don't actually do day passes and it's only a chat with someone in the office sign you up afterwards.

Dreadful gym with facilities at Lincoln constantly breaking down. Customer service terrible, staff rude & don’t reply to emails.
Today fire alarm set off and customers had to rush out of swimming pool and showers etc. to stand outside in the rain. Eventually let back in with no explanation. Went to reception afterwards to find out what had happened & was told management had performed a ‘live evacuation’ practice for the staff. No apology for leaving people freezing stood outside in the rain in their towels knowing there was no fire in the building. Staff very dismissive and couldn’t care less. Will leave as soon as contract ends.

Don't pick up their phones and app doesn't work.

It isn't just bad customer service, there just isn't any customer service (despite paying twice the fees of normal gyms)

Firstly I was ver disappointed in the way me and my family were treated. On arrival she said she could not let us in the building with 3 children and I would have to wait in the waiting area until my husband arrives. I then had to ask why is would not be OK to wait in the cafe and play area for kids. .she then said ok yes you can do that.

At the centre she was constantly staring at me as to what me and the children were doing. This made me feel very uncomfortable, she approached me again and said I cannot leave my children unattended when all my children were in my sight.

She then came to the pool area and again was staring at me and my family whilst we were in the pool.
At the pool the life guard said we need to be out of the pool by 8. We said ok. When is was 8pm the life guard reminded us its 8pm and we got out of the pool and went in the changing rooms.

The manager Holie came to find me and my children in the changing area, she waited until I came out of the showers with my towel on and she said to me that we need to leave straight away. Again I was very uncomfortable with this, her mannerism and attitude was very rude and making us feel not welcome at the centre.
I said ok I am leaving the centre.

The second time 5 minutes later she came again and said your son is waiting outside the changing cubicle. So I responded and said ok, she said he not allowed to wait for you here under 8 not allowed. My son was 9 and he came to give me a hand with bags and toddler. Anyway she sent him away to dad.

The third time she came again 5 minutes later and I was walking to my locker and getting a nappy out for my baby. Again she said I need to leave the building right now. My toddler was not dressed nor had nappy on. I was trying my best to get things done quickly as possible but she was getting me very angry by the constantly pestering me.

At this point she made me very angry.
I felt she had an issue that I was asian women in hijaab, who didnt know anything. When i could speak english and read.

The life guard told us to be out of the pool by 8. So we then was changing clothes which take a bit more time but we was not using the facilities just getting ready to leave.

Me and my husband went upto holie to complain and she again had attitude and was looking at us like she didn't care about our custom. She said you can cancel your membership if you want, meaning she was not bothered about us being paying members.

I won't be using the Bolton gym again and will be making a complaint to the head office too.

Class schedule is terrible. Very few classes like hiit, circuits, bootcamp at peak hours when people aren’t working. Mostly due to the instructors being blocked out for the squad classes which are basically small group classes you have to pay extra for but they tell you it’s “personal training” sessions

Just avoid the temptation to join , the Bolton gym that my daughter and fiancé are members of is a complete shambles. Non of the equipment is maintained it reeks of body odour and the changing rooms are full of pubic hair , it’s disgusting.
My daughter has had to stop using the pool due to large groups of young men loitering and ogling the female swimmers.
If I could give them a 0 star rating I would .

So the website states "try today for free" but what that means is you can try 24 hours later, so surely it should say "try tomorrow for free"

Seems like false advertising to me.

I did have a no commitment membership to where you can cancel anytime without a fee. First they wouldn't let me cancel unless it got to a specific date. Then I got charged £42.47 to cancel a NO COMMITMENT MEMBERSHIP. I got charged a whopping £91.47 over 2 days!

Update * On 01/06/23* Even after cancelling my direct debit and my non commitment membership. I received an email from Total fitness that I owe them £49 for my next months payment EVEN THOUGH I CANCELLED IN ADVANCE!!!

Please make sure you cancel your direct debit after you've cancelled your account as it seems they will try to take more off of you even with no agreement. I've had to block them from taking payments. No right at all.

The cold air blowers have been consistently switched on causing massive draughts in the yoga/meditation studio. This has been complained about for four weeks by myself and other members of the yoga classes. We are fobbed off by staff telling us that only the manager can switch them off but 'he's not in today/ on a course for a week' and nobody else knows how to do it...

Total fitness prenton.
Equipment not maintained, pool jets never all work, sauna or steam room always closed, lockers all with locks on even though nobody there,and now they put up my membership,,,,,cancelling today.
