My family bought a camper with Thompson Leisure recently.
What can I say... It was an amazing sales experience from start to finish.

We buought a camper with Thompson's.We paid a deposit, the van was to be handed over 2/3weeks after a full service, timing belt replacement, full check,habitation etc.
This got pushed out, on the day we did go to collection it turned out they forgot to service it and no VRT done,we paid balance as we trusted it was just an oversight.
The technician came out to show us around the van,unfortunately when we asked a few questions he said just play around with it!!We pointed out the door was jammed,he got a colleague and he said just hit it with your shoulder! As we went to drive away the seatbelt came away which then had to be fixed, part of the seat was broken and they said they would repair when doing the service.I asked for the locknut key for the wheels a 3rd guy came out and this could not be found so van would have to go back to Ford for it to be recut.The oil light on the dash was showing which I pointed out at test drive.
Fast forward they sent us home with a van with no electric cable, no wheel brace and no jack, the water pump wasn't working so no running water.
This is where we asked for our money back and Alexander Thompson contacted me personally to assure me everything would be fixed and apologies he would personally check everything if I made a snag list.
So Thompson picked up van, when it came back the oil light still on, the part of the seat that was broken was actually sitting on the table not repaired,Alex sent me a video to show me water working "don't mind the splutter it's will run through" Nope the van was showing up faults with water, I sent Alex the codes.The oil leak which I pointed out not fixed and destroyed me cobble lock.
The van went back a third time and it still was not VRTed.This time they lost a spare set of keys and when it did come back it was filthy and the shower door seal was hanging off!! The guy that brought the van back actually said he wouldn't have taken van back in that state.Alexander Thompson now stopped taken calls and returning emails.
We ended up taken delivery of the van in the middle of June, he wanted the warranty to start at the first delivery date even though it wasn't serviced or VRT done or in working order.We got 2 personnel loans to purchase our dream van and we have had it away twice, only this week it turns out the bumper was already in a bang and screwed back on and siliconed back to the body which I didn't know at the time of purchase as I'm not experienced with campers.Alexander says this isn't covered under warranty but he offered me extended warranty if we took down our review, the warranty was through the winter months when the van would be in storage.We declined as myself and my wife feel people need to be aware of Alexander Thompson and his business,we would not want anyone to go through the same experience as ourselfs.The spare key they forgot to get cut, posted down a uncut key I have to get cut and reprogrammed and send him the bill!!Please take time to read all Thompson reviews here and on Google thank you

Pickup, car quality and driving experience

We have just collected our new Motorhome from Thompson Leisure. From the start. we dealt with Robin - a very friendly guy who is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the Motorhomes. He is extremely helpful without being 'pushy' and this leads to an element of trust in his opinions. We are delighted with our purchase and with the customer service we received from start to finish. Everything from start to finish was so easy to sort everything went smoothly

Me and my husband hired the Volkswagen transporter for 3 nights. We were greeted by Steph who had excellent customer service and explained everything in great detail and answered any questions we had. She was very friendly and made the picking up of the vehicle very smooth and allowed us to be on our way as quickly as possible. The van was amazing, it catered for our needs and was easy to manage/set up and a lovely vehicle to drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and will definitely be back in the future! Thanks again!

What an amazing experience we had with this rental, We rented for the Open in royal port rush and the team could not have made the pick up and drop off any easier, The Camper was like new and had all the trimmings, everything was set up so well and the beds where so soft and cozy. I really could not recommend enough and we are already planning our next rental.

Our experience renting a campervan was very good. The van was in good condition and well equipped and the staff at Thompson Leisure very helpful. We were able to pick the van up early and return was very quick and smooth.

Sales rep Robyn showed us a variety of vans and with no pressure at all to buy. We spent as long as we wanted in each van and went back for a second visit.

Easy to deal with including the VRT process.

Very easy booking process and communication up to and including check in was excellent. Vehicle was in perfect condition with 12,000 miles on the clock. Good storage within the vehicle and a helpful reversing camera included. Sat nav was available through connecting my phone through the USB point. Contact during the hire was helpful and returning the vehicle was straight forward.

We found the company staff very helpful and professional. Collection was easy as was returning the vehicle. It was supplied with everything we needed.
It was very useful having the YouTube video to refer to any item which we may have forgotten to operate.
Good competitive price.

Staff were friendly and tried to be helpful but campervan had no water & technical faults for that particular campervan which ruined the overall holiday/camping experience.Had to return early no heat or water.

Absolutely wonderful from initial customer service to collection and return, it was stress free and comprehensive!

Good price, good explanation and introduction for first timers.

Unhelpful staff - Sarah, except for Steph, she was nice and stayed longer than her working hours for the van collection but I would not say the company went above and beyond.

Seems like based on the size of the operation, you are just a number. They need an after hours collection and drop off system, this should be very simple to implement. Lock box with a code for a key to be left on site.

We brought the van back one night early and there was not even a consideration to help.

Airport to location is a very far distance for pickup and drop off.. this was NOT clear from booking.

No out of office hours for drop off with a key box.

Not enough utilities included, not even a small container of dishwashing liquid, nor a cleaning cloth. Not enough knives and forks, etc, very skimped on.

Van had no water when we picked it up. No real tips or advice for foreigners for travelling the country, no real map or suggested routes. A lot can be done to improve the service. No real advice on where to park in cities and how local laws work regarding parking and infringements. This is very simple stuff to inform people of.

Not sure why my review has anything to do with my parents rental, I'm giving you my honest feedback. Van was nice, its a 3 due to it being overpriced and general lack of care from the company, other than Steph who made the rental somewhat bearable.

Not sure what flexibility you are referring to ? Pickup was after hours, I was not informed you did not have after hours service, infact once I booked you did not even check up on my booking until I reached out.

A nice gesture to offer us a lift from the impossible to find depo to Moira train station, but once we arrived slightly late due to the complexity of the location, after advising we were on our way, we were told to catch a taxi, which Steph had booked for us. We ended up waiting an hour for that.

Defend yourself as much as you like, it was not like other van rentals I have had around the world. Much to be improved upon.

No hard sell from staff who were very patient with our queries. A very large selection of campervans at various prices.

The TL sales team could not have been more helpful or patient in finding us the right van…a journey that ended up being much longer than anticipated. Thompsons goes the extra mile without putting the client under pressure. Deb in the workshop was meticulous in ensuring a comprehensive handover, giving us as much time as we needed to understand everything, especially on the tech front. I would certainly recommend Thompson Leisure to others.
