Volunteering in Ghana
I volunteered for 3 weeks in the medical program in Ghana. From the moment I booked with TMR they provided us with support, making sure everything went smoothly. Volunteering in the hospital was such a rewarding experience, we had the opportunity to gain hands on experience and learn a lot from the doctors. Dinah and the local team were so helpful and did a great job of giving us such a fun experience. Busua is such an amazing place with the most beautiful beach and such a welcoming community. I can’t recommend this program enough, it was truly such an amazing experience.

I did the mental health and psychology…
I did the mental health and psychology programme for 4 weeks with the Mighty Roar and cherish the experience. I got to experience different types of placements and staff we very happy to accommodate us if we asked to try another medical placement that wasn't on our usual rotation.
The accommodation was clean and tidy and staff were very friendly and helpful when we had any questions or concerns. I felt very safe and the tuktuks located just outside of the accommodation were always very approachable and would ask us if we needed a ride back when dropping us into town. One of my friends went shopping for birthday cards and one of the tuktuk drivers from TMR took her to 5 different shops and spoke to the staff to her help, they really went above and beyond!
I feel very grateful and privileged that I got to take part in this programme and would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a different culture to their own!

Amazing experience from start to finish! The staff at the hostel are absolutely great and cannot do enough for you! There were activities on most days which helps the groups to mingle. I really enjoyed my experience here and would encourage anyone to book through this organisation as it is excellent value for money and they provide the best experience possible.

I had a great time volunteering in madagascar under the teaching programme. Staff were amazing, especially Gabby and Mario. Food was limited and very rice based but the accomdation was manageable for the 2 weeks i was there and very clean. Would highly recommend!

overall my experience of tmr was…
overall my experience of tmr was incredible and i made so many memories. i did the teaching program and the turtle program. these were both great and the staff were lovely. however i think the organisation and communication wasn’t great. there was only 7 of us that came one weekend and we didn’t have a full introduction and missed out on a lot of things the people did that came as a big group. i also went on the 9 day travel trip which i saw the main parts of sri lanka. yet again the communication on the trip was nonexistent and the guide wasn’t on the group chat. the location was amazing and it was near local places to explore. when you needed something at tmr the staff were always there to help straight away.

I did the dog programme in Sri Lanka
I did the dog programme in Sri Lanka. Kavi (coordinator) was super nice and helpful. We would prepare the food, feed the dogs and the street dogs. No need to worry about rabies in the sanctuary as all are vaccinated and really friendly!

I did the medical volunteering in Tanzania with the mighty roar and had an amazing time. The staff are so welcoming, the hostel always has something going on and the food is wonderful. The weekend trips (safari/zanzibar) were well organised and a must do! Would absolutely recommend.

I spent 3 weeks volunteering doing the…
I spent 3 weeks volunteering doing the sea turtle conservation and had such an amazing time!
It was really rewarding to be a part of this experience, and I enjoyed every minute of both volunteering and exploring Sri Lanka!

I had a great medical elective experience with the mighty roar in Sri Lanka. Thalini was a wonderful supervisor who was always willing to help with anything we needed. In particular she was extremely helpful when it came to our university’s donation to the hospital. I can’t thank her enough.

I had a wonderful experience with my overseas placement through The Mighty Roar. It was a smooth sailing experience and all the staff were very supportive and are with us every step of the way.
I haven’t been to the country I chose but the staff made sure that I felt at home during my stay.

Well planned, definitely recommend
This is my second time volunteering with TMR and I would 100% recommend. They always organised the hospital placements very well and I didn’t experience any issues with that. And then outside of placements there are so many planned opportunities to explore the local culture and make friends. I have done both experiences as a solo traveller and have felt safe and enjoyed everytime. This time in Vietnam, Oscar was in charge of sorting everything for me and he was amazing. There is 24/7 contact both in person and plenty of check ins from the UK.

Medical Programme in Sri Lanka
the facilitators and company were amazing. very helpful and ensuring we got the best experiences out of our midwifery placement abroad.
at the accommodation in sri lanka, the food was decent, mainly lunch and dinner were good, there was a home bar where they held parties and events such as karaoke and just dance and the drinks were also a fair price.
there are lots of activities to do through TMR on your days off.
the placement experience was really well rounded and i gained a lot of valuable experience.
my only complaint would be that at the accommodation we did have frequent issues with water, electricity, and mainly the wifi. the drains/toilets not flushing did happen a few times which caused a bad smell through the shower drain as it was a building issue. the wifi also didn’t work anywhere on the compound which could get irritating as reception on my e-sim wasn’t the best there either.
overall, i’d highly recommend if you are wanting to do the medical programme, you see so much and gain such an insight. Thillini who looked after us was amazing and so accommodating.

2-week Turtle conservation in Greece (Wildlife Sense)
I did the 2-week Turtle conservation program in Greece. It was an excellent experience for a great cause. The team went out of their way to give us opportunities for as much as experience as possible and always considered our well-being. There was plenty of free time to enjoy the beaches and explore too.
